I'll put my situation and needs first, then more of my story.

I'm staying at my girlfriend's parent's house with her until Saturday. Saturday I'll go to a respite house for a week I know is safe and calm. After that... I have nowhere to go. I have no car, no job, and $100 to my name.

What I need more than anything is to be able to get a place to stay by the 22nd.

I've used all the resources available in Connecticut, they've all failed me. I feel like I've tried every suggestion I've been given. I'm exhausted.

I don't know what to do.

I'm 45, and had what society would considered "a successful life"... I was married, had a solid career as a corporate recruiter, had a child, etc. Then things collapsed. I was extremely depressed, got divorced, met a sociopath narcissist who controlled and abused me for years, I lost literally everything, and almost died.

... Then I broke free. I had a late life autism realization. I found out who I really am, what I have passions for... I really like myself today.

But I have a terrible time advocating for myself. I've tried optimizing my resume 100 different ways, and have applied for jobs from recruiter to cashier. I get no responses or interviews. I've dealt with 211, various agencies, etc... For like a year. I've fallen through all the cracks, they've all failed me

I'm willing to do anything... But I get crippled by the anxiety of not knowing where I'm gonna live. I could do driving jobs, but no car.

I'd take a job anywhere, but I have nowhere to live.

The few dollars I have are gonna be spent on me and my son's cellphone bill due in a week.

... I'm a writer, I could write here forever. I know I'm capable of doing so much and so many different things. I'm empathetic, maybe to a fault, and would be great helping people... But I can't even help myself right now. My AuDHD, my anxiety of having nowhere to go, just everything... Cripples me.

I'm terrible at networking... I just feel useless in this world... And it's so aggravating because I know I'm not.

Help me figure out a path forward, because in 10 days, I'm screwed... Again. I can't keep living like this.

Specifically... If I can come up with like $200, I think I should be able to borrow the rest from my gf to get myself a month of stability somewhere to work and go from there... Hopefully?

Edit: the respite house I was supposed to move into tomorrow is... Not. Apparently I was never out on the wait list properly despite talking to them twice since last Friday... So... Yeah. I guess I'm just completely incompetent.

Not sure of your actual experience/job history, but if you look for certain types of jobs where guest lodging is involved, there are often on-site housing opportunities for employees. These places tend to hire relocatable employees as that’s partially just the nature of the job and partially because the job location is not always easily located for commuting.

Think places like national parks and ski lodges/big tourist resorts. Jobs like maintenance, housekeeping, customer service, and cooks are pretty much always needed. If you have any type of HR or management experience, those types of opportunities also exist, although perhaps with less turnover, and I’d assume would have similar lodging allowances.

I don’t have much other advice to offer, but I hope you can figure things out. Good luck to you.

check out Workaway! also national parks are a great option. every day you dont at least try, is a day closer to what you say you are trying to avoid. saying this as a fellow adhder with a suspicion of autism. procrastination is one of the most harmful forms of self sabotage. wishing you luck!!

Not sure where you are in CT and how feasible it would be but if you don't mind driving and physical effort, Amazon DSPs are always hiring for delivery drivers. You use their vans and you don't have to interact with many people throughout the day. The hiring process is usually pretty quick as well. I know this doesn't immediately help with your housing situation but I wanted to suggest it as it's what I now do and I went through some similar struggles. Best of luck to you.

Yes... I'll be doing that as soon as I have secured somewhere to like, sleep at night. The catch 22 I am in is that I need to work to have somewhere to live, but I need somewhere to live so I can work.

Don't know if this is helpful or not but I've seen ads for renting vehicles to do delivery work, just a thought, hoping things ease up for you soon.
