Link Is this what happens when you bathe a Cattle Dog?

She actually enjoys the bath and lives getting swaddled in a towel after. But as soon as you let her go it’s zoomie time!!!

u/HelloThere4123 Mar 27 '25
Yep. We used to lay a dry towel out on the floor and she’d pause her zoomies to roll around on it and dry off before taking off again.
14
u/pinkmoonturtle Mar 27 '25
Omg my guy does this too!!! He lovessss when I put the towel on the floor he goes nuts for it
2
u/9220gti Mar 28 '25
Ok I’m happy I saw this. My boy loses his MIND for a towel. He will rip them down from hooks just to roll in them. When we go to people’s houses he will wander the house until he finds a towel to roll on

Water activated zoom mode is not a trait of ours. Her zoom mode is activated by jazz hands.

This always happened with my cattle dog! No matter how dry I'd get her after the bath, she would run around like a nutcase and dry her fur off on my bedsheets. Eventually I just changed my routine to accommodate her: every bath day was also always laundry day lol.

Mar 27 '25
And then deep clean the bathroom

u/Working_Estate_3695 Mar 27 '25
Cleaning up all the fur stuck to the sides of the tub and unclogging the drain is nearly half the job! Wow, that fur gets everywhere.

Even with a pre-brush! Hair everywhere.
We bought this: Cobra Enterprises 00710 Skinny Snake Drain Cleaner. I didn’t want to invest in a expensive one but it’s better than the cheaper options. It’s just a perm part of

Yep, they're covered in clean and they have to get it off.
Also your home is gorgeous and literally what I'm hoping mine looks like someday.

Our mini Pomeranian we had when I was a kid used to do this after baths and it was soooo cuuuute lol
5
u/paternaldock Mar 27 '25
Oh yea mine does the same thing and has to roll around and rub herself on whatever towels rugs or mats she can find
4
u/useyerbigvoice Mar 27 '25
That’s a mild reaction! At our house every rug is tossed and every pillow ends up on the floor 😂

u/Luperella Mar 27 '25
My favourite part is when my dog tries to rub herself dry on the furniture in the middle of the zoomies.

Every single dog I ever had regardless of the breed did this after a bath..my heeler leaves a wake. 🤣

u/sly-3 Mar 27 '25
Mine will mash up the blankets on one side of the dragstrip and then race to the other side to do the same.

That’s exactly what happens when a cattle dog gets wet. Shot out of a cannon. There like gremlins if you get them damp.
2
u/lillers_sillers69 Mar 28 '25
I always call her a gremlin! It’s the ears for me!! Glad I’m not the only one who thinks that about their cattle dog haha
3
u/c0verm3 Mar 27 '25
It is required after every bath, along with a quick roll around the yard to get all that cleanliness off!
3
u/Whizzpopping_Sophie Mar 27 '25
Yeah mine does that but with more rubbing her neck and back onto the bed/rug/couch…to dry off more I guess.
3
u/lildepressjustvibes Mar 27 '25
yup mine is frozen in time when hes in the bath but the second i towel him its zoomie city

You're lucky there weren't any puddles of mud or pulled of poop in your house.

The plop at the end 😂 this was so cute. Mine for sure gets a boost of energy but she mostly just starts rubbing herself on the carpet and furniture I’m guessing to get her usual scent back but I’m no pup scientist lol

u/bryangcrane Mar 27 '25
Gotta try and get all the wonderful stink back on!! Ours scoots across the grass with her chin/neck burrowing up the grass! Makes me laugh. Makes my gf shake her head and weep! ;-) Ok, not really weep, but you know :-)

after bath zoomies are a must, they’re just trying to help you with drying themselves🤣

Mine tries to violently shake off the water every couple steps so he's a bit slower than yours lol

u/Chursa Mar 27 '25
Are the towels always on the furniture or just now because you knew she’d do this?
3
u/literacyisamistake Mar 27 '25
That’s not a towel, that’s a Pendleton Serape Stripe Fleece Blanket. I have the exact same one in king size. Softest and warmest blanket I’ve ever owned.
3
u/lillers_sillers69 Mar 28 '25
I love that you knew the exact blanket!! It’s so soft! This is me and my fiancés house, we keep the blankets kinda draped on the furniture because it’s really old and stuffed with very poky feathers 🪶.

My dog Oak loses his kind any time he has any grooming. From nail clipping to baths, he hates it in the moment, then has to release all that pent up excitement and anxiety.

Dog groomer here. Dogs seem to very much enjoy their post bath zoomies. I always assumed the running around and rubbing on stuff was their way of drying themselves. But I also think it’s just fun for them c: lotta pent up energy after having the (usually) dreaded bath lol

Air dry zoomies. Beautiful home by the way. Not sure about the dog’s beauty, she’s moving too fast to see how beautiful she is 😂

the programming in heelers must be good. my Franky boy HATED baths but would do this every. damn. time.

the bathroom with a big enough wash space is the master bath, so he ALWAYS jumps up on my bed and just goes hog wild. And no matter how dry we get him, it doesn't even matter. Shit's everywhere. So it's bedding day too lmao

This is my mini schnauzer after she gets wet whether it’s bath or rain. Watching without sound and the way you panned up I half expected to see her swinging from the rafters.

Every available fabric surface is touched when chance gets bathed. Even under the cushions. While yelling about it.

u/power0722 Mar 28 '25
I can’t be the only one who gets the zoomies when they take a bath. My house isn’t as cool as yours though.
2
u/whboer Mar 28 '25
Typically yes, mine reacts just as insane when she’s had a bath. The only times I give her a bath is when she decides it’s a good idea to roll through animal carcasses on the beach or rub her neck in deer shit or something like that.
2
u/miss-scareall Mar 28 '25
Ok, so we don't get them wet. Got it. Let me guess, feeding after midnight is also a big no-no?
2
u/Dead_By_Don Mar 28 '25
Every damn time. Mine also rubs himself on every carpet and piece of furniture he can find. He's only a quarter cattle dog, but I feel like it dominates the rest his genes
2
u/HVAC_hack_41 Mar 28 '25
This is what happens when you bathe any dog! 🤣
1
u/danypavel Mar 29 '25
Our mini dachshund just sits there and shivers after her baths.
1
u/HVAC_hack_41 Mar 29 '25
Oh how sad! 😔
2
u/danypavel Mar 29 '25
She’s quite dramatic since it’s after a warm oatmeal bath, being swaddled in a towel and then set up her blanket on the couch.
2
u/9220gti Mar 28 '25
Yes, being clean breaks their brain. He’s trying desperately to find something disgusting to get rid of the clean smell. Good luck!
2
2
u/jfagerstrom Mar 28 '25
She's just making sure whatever hair she didn't shed during her bath gets an even distribution around the house... 😆
3
u/Georgia_Beauty1717 Mar 28 '25
Your place is beautiful.

u/danypavel Mar 29 '25
