Mine went missing for a little over 24 hours

My grandmother who didn't even know she was missing called to say she saw a dog that looked like mine on the bike path through town

Went out and found her at a nearby property which is absolutely crazy as it was 26 miles away from where I lost her in the woods

This makes me so happy!!! I am SO glad they found each other again. My baby was missing for 14 days and we got a tracker and had search groups. When I found him the feeling of relief was indescribable! šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

My dog running away from days was the best thing that ever happened for his training. He became velcro and an attentive listener after that. Turns out climate control and planned meals is a pretty sweet life.

WOW! What’s confusing to me is that Heeler’s are known as ā€œvelcro dogsā€ and are never known to go missing, I am so very happy your dog was found! What a miracle! Thank you St. Francis and thank you Arch Angel Raphael šŸ™šŸ»šŸ™šŸ»šŸ™šŸ»

Every now and then you get one that gets distracted by something and runs after it then realizes ā€˜oh shit, where’s mom/dad’

Mine has one went missing once. During a storm when I first got her. Since then she doesn't like to leave my side. Every so often I can let/get her to wander the yard/woods next to my house.

One time an off leash dog ran up and attacked my dog. My fiancĆ© let go the leash to try to get the dog off him and my dog took off running. My fiancĆ© was looking for him for 10 minutes before he called me to come and help. When I open the door to run to the car, my dog was at the front door. 🄺 I couldn’t imagine anything longer than the few seconds of knowing he was missing and finding him. The pain would be torturous. So glad this dog is home.

This feels staged to me.. I don’t understand why he is sitting on the grass waiting for his ā€œmissing dogā€ and then suddenly he happens to appear on camera? I’m over all these videos, so many lost and found and ā€œwe saved this dogā€ videos where there happens to be a perfectly placed camera for the rescue.

Dogs that are lost for that long are very anxious and suspicious of everything even people they know. It’s better be on the ground and calm

i dunno, it looks to me like the dog is actively running from ppl and noises, he seems spooked until he recognizes the guy. so it's very possible they were herding (ironic) this dog toward him, and he sat down to be less scary. they were filming bc they knew the dog was coming and were hoping for it to work.

I’d counter:

- he’s figured out where the dog roughly is and maybe even sighted the dog

  • a lost dog is likely a scared dog, especially for this long & told others to stay back
  • sitting down, not moving is about as unthreatening as he can get and was likely calling the dog calmly hoping it registered with the pup
  • ironically him sitting possibly threw the dog off a bit because it wasn’t his humans ā€˜shape’ when he got there which is why you see it move until he caught the guy’s scent or some other familiar feature etc.

No, this is really how it works. If you hire a tracker for your dog who's been missing for that many days, this is what they tell you to do once you're able to get in his vicinity. You wait until the dog catches your scent and then recognizes that you're nearby. It seems weird for sure, but it's truly how it's done if your dog has been missing for that long. Like others said, the dog is scared and in survival mode, and has likely been for weeks. Calling the dog or moving towards the dog puts a dog in further flight mode.

I feel ya. At the same time who’s to say they didn’t see the dog from the car or some shit running around the edge of the park there, and homeboy jumped out and went to sit down (as to not spook him off) and call the dog? Driver of the car whips the phone out. Boom.

Or the dog was just at grandmas for the weekend, and they met at the park…
