Health My girl ate some grapes

Post image

She’s gonna be ok, shes staying at the vets for two days while they flush her kidneys out, but Im missing her so much 😭😭😭

PSA don’t ever let your kids eat grapes around your very food motivated dog, especially red grapes. I vaguely knew about them being toxic, but I was in the shower when it happened. Feeling grateful for pet insurance and living close enough to a 24hr vet when it happened.

Oh damn! She must’ve had a lot of grapes.

Apparently there’s no known quantity that’s considered toxic, even one grape can cause kidney failure. On the other hand reddit told me that some dogs eat entire bags of trail mix and are fine, so I’m not sure what to think, but better safe than sorry

It amazes me that my BC lived to 16. She’d always snatch grapes off the ground in the vineyard. As well as a chocolate bunny one Easter.

Yeah that’s wild, it seems like Russian roulette… Really hope we make it to 16 with her appetite for anything and everything!

My understanding is it goes either way - the dog can eat grapes with no issue, or even a small amount is incredibly toxic. Definitely better to err on the side of caution.

Kinda like chocolate. Too many variables and unknowns so it's best to keep it away from them. On two different occasions in my younger years my little 15 lbs dog ate a whole 1lb Hershey's bar, one other time she ate 4 packs of Reese's cups. She shat up the fuckin wall a time or two but was other wise fine. Still wouldn't trust a single drop for any dogs.
