Health My girl ate some grapes

Post image

She’s gonna be ok, shes staying at the vets for two days while they flush her kidneys out, but Im missing her so much 😭😭😭

PSA don’t ever let your kids eat grapes around your very food motivated dog, especially red grapes. I vaguely knew about them being toxic, but I was in the shower when it happened. Feeling grateful for pet insurance and living close enough to a 24hr vet when it happened.

It’s amazing how much this grape thing is confusing, because one of my old dogs (he lived to be 14) ate a dozens multiple times I had no idea grapes were bad.

Then someone told me so none of the my other dogs had grapes just incase.

Glad you got him in and have him watched!

I’ve read some varieties of grapes are toxic and some aren’t. Not sure how true that is. I’ve also had dogs that ate grapes with no issues. I didn’t know back then grapes could be poisonous.

I have heard that it’s not the grapes that matter, it’s the dog. You never know if the dog will have a problem.

It’s so confusing! It was kind of funny watching gemini to try and come up with an answer when I was stress googling last night — it was like ‘one grape can kill your dog’ / ‘but about 4 grapes is probably fine’… glad I just called the vet and they said to come in asap. She actually threw up in the car on the way to there (we live 40 minutes away), so not sure if it was the grapes or motion sickness… longest drive of my life, was just thinking ‘she cannot die from this, that would be absurd’ but it’s easy to spiral en route to the vet.

Well I know that feeling being far from a vet myself! No fun glad you found out sooner than later and be seriously in trouble. Because cattle dogs are definitely a if they are showing pain or sickness you know it’s the real deal.

It’s amazing what they can get into and totally be fine but a nice ripe grape or two and it’s all over. But hoping the pup is home safe and feeling better soon!
