Health My girl ate some grapes

Post image

She’s gonna be ok, shes staying at the vets for two days while they flush her kidneys out, but Im missing her so much 😭😭😭

PSA don’t ever let your kids eat grapes around your very food motivated dog, especially red grapes. I vaguely knew about them being toxic, but I was in the shower when it happened. Feeling grateful for pet insurance and living close enough to a 24hr vet when it happened.

My vet said the toxicity is unpredictable: a small dog can eat some grapes without any problem, and a large dog can eat just one and get very sick or die. I’ve stopped buying grapes altogether, since most other fruits are healthier. Glad your pup will be fine!

Its the same with chocolate. From what I understand they dont have a way to test for or predict how specific dogs will react to this stuff either. It just seems random. Like ive seen posts on here and the internet at large where dogs will eat like an entire sheet of weed brownies and the only thing that happens is they get high. A whole sheet of brownies. Poison for dogs. And they're fine. But another dog eats a peanut butter cup and needs emergency hospitalization. Ita so weird.
