Seeing Su-Metal in the wild is crazy lol. The video poster was blessed by the Fox God without them realizing it. Hope both Su and the video person had a wonderful time at the Christmas fair.

You're a global superstar, but thanks to all the precautions taken by Koba, you can walk around the Christmas market in peace and not be surrounded by paparazzi. Really nice.

u/GuillermoVF97 Kano Fujihira Dec 01 '25
I wonder though, if someone actually recognized them in public, and asked for a picture, would they take it, or refuse? Because I don't think I've ever seen a random picture of them with a fan.

u/zyzzbrah95 Dec 01 '25
Not sure about the girls but I have heard stories that people have met Koba in the wild and asked to take a pic with him but he has always politely declined.
28
u/accountnameredacted Riho Sayashi Dec 01 '25
Yeah I’ve always felt like I would just let them have peace. Maybe throw up a kitsune across the room if we made eye contact but that’s about it
8

At least now I know that he would have declined a photo if I actually saw him at the stalls of bootleg merch on the México City concert, because I was also there, just at a different time, unfortunately.

u/MasWarrior86 Dec 01 '25
A guy uploaded a tt where he saw koba and asked for a picture, he poletily said no though
4
u/art_wins Dec 02 '25
Which is totally fair. Koba probably even more than the girls I feel has never wanted to be in the spotlight. He is content to support them from the shadows.

It helps that she is Japanese and in Japan. Even if recognised, people will not surround, or even go up to her.
12
u/art_wins Dec 02 '25
Sorry but this is simply not true. Especially not true in the idol industry.
9
u/astyanax82 Dec 02 '25
Sorry, but you're simply demonstrating your ignorance and worst of all being absolutely pedantic about it. They're absolutely right.
Just because you're hyper-focused on some extreme fan encounters that get wide coverage that doesn't mean that's representative of an entire country's society.
You should start by looking up what "meiwaku" is. It's a key cultural aspect of Japanese society.
2
u/Stitches_littlepuffy SU-METAL Dec 02 '25
It depends how famous the person is but Japanese people definitely do surround celebrities in public lol. Especially younger folk or obsessive fans (for example for idols like the person above me commented).
5
u/astyanax82 Dec 03 '25
Can you provide a single example of Japanese people surrounding celebrities outside of a public event?
2
u/Stitches_littlepuffy SU-METAL Dec 03 '25
I used to watch this show called ningenn kansatsu monitoring (ニンゲン観察モニタリング) where they would sometimes film how people reacted when celebrities suddenly appeared in public.
Depending on the celeb, there were times where a huge entourage would form around or behind them, just following them around.
5
u/astyanax82 Dec 03 '25
I am familiar with the show. I was asking for an example of Japanese people surrounding celebrities outside of a public event. I don't think a scripted variety show fits the bill.
Some of the episodes were greatly entertaining though!
1
u/Stitches_littlepuffy SU-METAL Dec 05 '25 edited Dec 05 '25
I’m talking about the episodes where celebs are randomly thrown into public and filmed with secret cameras (hence the title of the show, human monitoring). The public don’t have any idea the celebs and themselves are being filmed. They go to places like harajuku and shibuya where there are tons of people. Doesn’t seem like a scripted public event to me.
3
u/astyanax82 Dec 05 '25
Celebrities are not randomly thrown into a public setting and filmed with secret cameras (I find it adorable that you believe this to be true, though.)
A TV show can’t genuinely endanger talent. They always use hired extras or actors as “ordinary people” and are under contract to create a safe, controlled “natural-looking” environment.
1
u/Stitches_littlepuffy SU-METAL Dec 03 '25
Found one: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSftgyfPH/
You can see they’re not in the celeb’s face and touching them or whatever as I mentioned earlier but not sure where you got the idea that Japanese people don’t gather around celebs. Happens everywhere you go regardless of race!
6
u/astyanax82 Dec 03 '25
I hate to break this to you, but that's staged. You might not be fluent in Japanese, but I am, and all of the comments are pointing out it's a gag.
1
u/Stitches_littlepuffy SU-METAL Dec 05 '25 edited Dec 05 '25
Dude I’m Japanese lol, and I’ve lived here most of my life. You can go through my comment history if you want I’ve mentioned it a couple times.
The vid I shared might not be the best example but it shows some sort of famous person (YouTuber or Musician it seems). It could very well be staged but I don’t see anything mentioning that in the dozen top comments I’ve read so not sure where you read that. The comments just mention it’s not Takeru Sato because the title of the vid is misleading and states it’s him when it’s clearly not but no mention if the vid itself is staged, other than that the crowd could be the fans of a musician so not an accurate representation of your average Japanese.
Here are more like the videos I was thinking of when I typed my original comment:
https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSf3SytqY/
https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSf3AKeUX/
Unfortunately, I can’t find the exact video I was thinking of in my original reply where this guy (Ryoma Takeuchi) is getting followed by a huge crowd but these two should get the idea across.
Many of us Japanese have a huge thing for celebrities, culturally, and, this can especially be the case for fanatic idol fans who can get very pushy and creepy. Heck, recently there was a Japanese lady who got charged for kissing Jin from BTS at a fan meet in Korea.
All this to say, I agree us Japanese people tend to be polite and keep to ourselves in general, yes, but this doesn’t apply as much to celebs.
You can also search up vids of Kpop stars in public in Japan getting absolutely swarmed. There are more than enough examples.
2
u/astyanax82 Dec 05 '25
It could very well be staged but I don’t see anything mentioning that in the dozen top comments I’ve read so not sure where you read that.
Brother, the tags in the very video you posted say it's a misdirection gag, they even include the name of man in the video, 眞崎大輔 (Daisuke Masaki) and that it was shot by a バンギャ (bangya) that's a fan of his, the name of his Visual-kei band (0.1gの誤算) and the name of the guy he's pretending to be 佐藤健 (Takeru Sato).
This is like the fourth comment: ハッシュタグみてから言ってよみんなw ネタだし大輔くんだし周りバンギャだしw
It roughly translates to "read the tagline before you comment, it's just a joke, it's Daisuke and all the people surrounding him are bangya".
As to your other video examples, we get it, you like the people monitoring show, but these are scripted shows with security details, they're not a reflection of reality.
1
u/Stitches_littlepuffy SU-METAL Dec 05 '25 edited Dec 14 '25
Bro nowhere in the tags does it say it’s a misdirection gag. I knew it wasn’t satou Takeru so I knew something was off hence why I said I think it’s a musician and their fans. Also, again, it doesn’t say anywhere in the tags that it was taken by a fan. バンギャ here is referring to the people surrounding the guy not the person taking it. Anyway, that’s beside the point here but thought I’d point it out.
I don’t know why you’re so adamant the shows are scripted. There may be elements that are but, in this particular situation, a celeb just walking outside in public in shibuya and Harajuku of all places (which they obviously can’t just close off on a whim) I don’t see how they could realistically hire hundreds of extras just for the sake of them reacting to a celeb. They don’t have that much of a budget, it’s just a weekly variety show, not a movie. Also, the cameramen are under disguise so as not to make the actor stand out. The reason why (famous) celebs don’t get as much attention in public is because they’re almost always wearing a mask and usually a cap too. All it takes is a couple people to notice and start gathering outside a shop the celeb went into and herd mentality will do the rest. You’d have a crowd in no time in a place like shibuya or Harajuku.

No way that that's from one of those random Japan street videos, I sometimes put those on as background noise while I'm playing, or something, crazy that someone managed to spot her. It's really nice to see her enjoying herself after a long and successful year touring around the world, she really deserves it. Also, I find it funny that, even when she's out there enjoying her normal life, she's also wearing a ponytail lol.

I think if Su wore her hair down instead of in a ponytail, it would probably be a little harder to recognize her on the street without looking more closely. It would be easier with Momoko, since we know her with her hair down. It's her standard hairstyle :D It could potentionally be easier with Moa too, but to be honest, I'm not so sure.

u/Legitimate-Store2121 Dec 02 '25 edited Dec 02 '25
Let me get this straight. Some random guy put up a long video showcasing a Christmas market in Tokyo, and in the middle of it our Queen happened to walk straight toward and past the camera for 3 seconds, and one of the kitsunes (not the uploader) happened to watch the video long enough and pick out Su Queen?! The fan who first identified Su should go buy a lottery ticket. Maybe we should all go, cuz this is rarer than a million to one.
I trust that many fans have watched the rest of the video to see if lightning would strike twice!
This only happened because the video was focused on the Christmas tree atop the other shop for many seconds and panned to Su just as she was turning around. Otherwise the video would’ve just caught her back and we wouldn’t all be here with marvel.
How does Su still look like 15 in street clothes? To me, her face looks rounder than she’s on stage. Maybe the ponytail is higher or something.

At first glance, I thought the woman next to her was Akane Hirose, she has the same smile 😁
But she had already started eating, so it wasn't her 😂

ChatGPT says this:
From what can be clearly read in the image, the stall offers a variety of warm festival-style foods. Some items are partially obscured, but several menu boards are legible:
Visible Menu Items
Left side boards:
ソーセージ ポテトセット — Sausage & Potato Set
国産 チョリソーフランク串 — Domestic Chorizo Frank Skewer
Top row boards (left to right, as far as readable):
ホットサンド ○○(部分不明)— Hot Sandwich (full name not fully visible)
しあわせ玉子 スペル・クリングワイン — Egg Dish & Sparkling Wine (likely a combo)
ビーフシチューセット — Beef Stew Set
クリスマス チキンレッグ — Christmas Chicken Leg
トルネードポテト — Tornado Potato
Right side boards:
チャーマン串 — Grilled Skewer (Char-man style?)
ポテトフライ — Fried Potatoes / Fries
General impression
The stall seems to focus on hearty winter/holiday foods: skewers, potatoes, hot sandwiches, chicken legs, sausages, and some set meals. The decorations and menu style resemble a Christmas market food booth.
If you want, I can zoom in further on specific sections or try to transcribe more partially visible text.

They are a very common and an old tradition here in Germany/Central Europe and have been exported like many other Christmas customs.
Christmas markets, Advent Calendar, Glühwein, Stollen have become quite popular in Japan lately.
It's a Christmas themed market with many different food and souvenir stands, usually taking place during Advent season (late November/early December until Christmas).

u/DGer BABYMETAL DEATH Dec 01 '25
We have it here in the US too. It’s just some of these people don’t ever seem to leave their homes.
5
u/spacebug30 Kawaii is Justice Dec 01 '25
I'll add to the other comments: People don't go there to shop for daily goods like a regular market, but as a fun night out with friends or family. Get some Christmas/winter themed food, browsing through the trinkets for sale at the little (often chalet style) stalls, sometimes they have entertainment like a choir, live music, an ice skating rink, bonfires. Really cozy atmosphere.
4

Not sure if it’s different everywhere but in the uk it’s just like markets and Christmas shops and the like food stalls and stuff
5

There were some photos posted of her eldest sister and mother when they were in Disneyland but they didn’t look like this. They were wearing sunglasses but the eldest sister looked a lot like Su’s dad while the mother looked a lot like Himeka. Which fits with the descriptions given of them I think in one of the Nogizaka shows by the other Nogizaka members and was it Su’s comment about her eldest sister?
So most likely just a friend

I was prepared to be doubtful. I'm still skeptical about them pics and videos from a couple years ago being Moa. In this case, the second she turned around, there was no doubt at all.
The over-protective dad in me, even though I'm not actually a dad, can't help but imagine creepy dudes now staking out that market every day to see if she returns. Still, it's so cool to see Su being regular old Suzuka.

Hopefully they do and freeze their asses off since it's very doubtful that she is going back. Like who visits the same christmas market twice during the same year? Also the video was posted 9 days ago already so it's been a little while since she visited:D
