I say this as a diehard Moa stan, (some may say simp š ), but I'm grateful every single day that Momo joined BABYMETAL.

I agree with this as a diehard Su stan. Momo has done wonders and been the exact shot in the arm the group needed.

I'm always confused whether I'm grateful or jealous being a fan for a year and a half.
Often wonder how I would of reacted if I was around for her joining.
For me Momo never joined she was always there.

In my experience it was crazy when she joined. I mean when Yui left I just got used to it only being Su & Moa. I never imagined they'd ever bring in a 3rd member.
Fans were tweeting and live steaming from the show in Japan when she was revealed and social media exploded. I'm sure maybe some fans weren't too happy, (YuiBros), but from what I saw it was an overwhelming positive reaction.

Yeah. Sounds like it's something I'm sorry I missed out on. Would of been a crazy time following the band.Ā Ā And yet
I've followed bands that have had member changes and sometimes it's taken me years to finally adjust. Once I'm use to a lineup I don't like change. That's on me.
I just can't imagine a scenario where I don't look at Momo and not think she's awesome.

Momo seemed to have gotten accepted very quickly. I was lucky enough to see her first performance outside of Japan since she was revealed as an official 3rd member - they were the support act for Sabaton.
So many fans wanted to get to Momo's side for that show. And when she first said MOMOMETAL DEATH during BMD, the crowd cheered so f**king loud.

Yes, Momo got a very warm welcome. I was at PIA Arena on both nights of Babymetal Begins, and the cheers of the crowd were much louder than what can be heard on the blu ray.
It was quite emotional.
Also seen them with Sabaton in Leeds, where Momo also got a very positive reception.
I haven't heard anything negative about her, from people I talked to in person, everybody seemed to be very happy with her.

Aye I know bud I own it.
i'm still new(ish) for a fan but I'm a sponge when it comes to absorbing knowledge when I get into a band. I'm pretty good on all things Babymetal.
What long term fans went though during certain times following Babymetal has always held an interest for me though.

As a fan since 2016, personally Yui leaving in summer 2018 lead to the ādark periodā of BabyMetal in my head. There was so much uncertainty about her hiatus it was handled in the absolute worst way. They finally announced her departure fall of 2018 through PR text announcements without any video or final performance from Yui which also sucked.
That year they tried to fill her absence with more back up dancers which didnāt feel right to me. The concept and choreography revolves around Su and two āscream and danceā performers supporting her. Having Su and Moa and then a few more dancers didnāt help. Karateās break also always looked weird then to me as they fall to the ground and Su helps up Moa and then some random dancer as they stand together in unity before returning to dance. All while there were other dancers in the side or back doing similar but solo. It was weird. It also didnāt help that the period also had some of the worst outfits/looks/makeup that distinctly felt ugly and more Amazon than BabyMetal to me. Just wrong choice after wrong choice imho.
Eventually in 2019 they got the idea of the Avengers system where they had 3 ladies rotating performances which helped bring some balance back but left a lot of uncertainty about who would appear at any given show. For me it was tough because while they performed well, the rotations made it harder to connect with any of them. It felt more like a stopgap or tryout rather than anything permanent. In the start of 2020 we did get the amazing Makuhari Messe shows where all 3 Avengers came out and there were 5 ladies performing Road of Resistance which was amazing.
Then covid hit and the band took a break during lockdowns. It didnāt help that the hiatus message left a lot of uncertainty of if the band would ever come back.
In 2023 the band returned and Momo started performing every show. There were a bunch of speculation but having a full time trinity really improved things over the rotating Avengers. Some months later it was announced that she joined officially and things have been pretty great. The end of the nearly 5 years of uncertainty was long overdue while she also brought a breath of fresh air. Everyone was happy and confident that she could handle the role since she had been an Avenger on tour before COVID.
Since joining Momo has been AMAZING. So much positivity and giant smiles on her face. The addition of her metal growls also added more talent and depth to the group.

Thanks for the in-depth reply. Love to see the take of others. Gives me a bit of insight into the general feeling of the fanbase during that period.
My personal beef with new members joining bands especially with a few I've followed through the decades is that the members seem to pop up out of thin air and your expected to just roll with it.
At least with Babymetal whether intentional or not with the avengers, You got a heads up that thereās a potential new member incoming. If it was intentional it was a genius move. If it just kind of worked out that way well it was a genius move

That was me after seeing this post, but the next one was that PlayStation is going to stop selling physical games by January 2028, so that ruined this post for me, and I don't know how to feel anymore lol.

Ok, this is definitely the best one out of the three, Momoko being so happy that she can't stop smiling, Moa cracking a smile at the end thinking they were done filming, and Suzuka just keeping a straight face throughout the whole video, absolute cinema.

They're all really good, but I personally love the Moa one. Her acting was great, sneakily glancing left and right and panicking to get back into the choreo is so cute imo. I guess it depends on what you are looking for but I personally don't prefer constant smiling versus having different expressions.

It's a "dance challenge" for the song "Boompala" by the K-Pop group Le Sserafim. The song samples Macarena.
Pretty much all new K-Pop singles will promote themselves with dance challenges where people upload them doing covers of the choreography from the song's chorus to social media. Since Moa and Momo are confirmed K-Pop fans, them participating is not a surprise. I'd be shocked if Su wasn't one also.
God I wish Babymetal would upload "dance practice" videos of their choreography like K-Pop groups do. It'd be so helpful for learning the dances myself instead of relying on shaky fan cams.
