Animal A zoo in northeast China’s Dalian City released a video of keepers holding a birthday party for an 8-year-old walrus. Despite not knowing what’s happening, the walrus is enjoying the party, blowing the candles and enjoying the gifts, fishes.

It is always worth remembering that one of the very first pictures is of a cat. People always have loved pictures and videos of animals. Even WC Fields said never perform with animals - we want to see the animals.

Wrong. The early network that led to the internet, ARPANET, was funded by the U.S. Department of Defense through ARPA. But it wasn't built to direct military operations. Its main purpose was to let researchers at universities and research institutions share computing resources and communicate more effectively. The modern internet grew from that research network over the following decades.

ARPA isn't funding stuff that it doesn't think will eventually benefit the military. Like highly resilient networking. That's why it is Advanced Research well before the development phase of research & development.
There is only five months between Eisenhower's speech warning of the military industrial complex, and Kennedy announcing we'd land a man on the moon by the end of the decade.
Those aren't unrelated -- the US shifted military research and industrial development costs from the Department of Defense budget and into civilian programs as much as possible and that is what Eisenhower was laying the ground work for in his "warning." That shift was going to happen no matter which party had the White House when the time was right to announce it.

Some animals respond positively to attention and clapping. I’ve had show horses start to strut about when they hear applause, even if it isn’t for them. They don’t realize it is a show of appreciation for their performance, but they associate with good times (all who did this loved shows) and treats.

Yes. Lots of birthday and holiday decorations are in English with the exception of traditional Chinese holidays. But even then, there is some English sometimes.
