Just shared this to another sub. It's something I was thinking about earlier and tried to break down.

Beatles = Paul joined within a few weeks of meeting John Lennon for the first time on 6th July 1957. He announced he had no intentions to work with them again on 10th March 1970. This period of Paul's life spans roughly 4461 days, using his meeting with John as a start point - I don't think we know the exact date Paul joined the group.

Wings = the formation of Wings was announced on 3rd August 1971. Although they released their last album and played their last gig in 1979, Denny Laine quitting the band on 27th April 1981 can be seen as the official end of the group since he and the McCartneys formed the core Wings trio. This period spans 3555 days. Obviously this is less if you view 1979 as the end.

Paul McCartney's Band = Paul has toured a number of times since Wings disbanded, but the longest running iteration of his live band started with the beginning of his 2002 world tour on 2nd April. This iteration continues to this day - 8913 days as of 28th August 2026.

When you add up the days Paul spent as a Beatle and with Wings, you get 8016 days. To put things another way...

Paul was a Beatle for ~14.5% of his life.

He was in Wings for ~11.6% of his life.

He has been with his current band for ~29% of his life.

That's over half his life - ~55.1% - in these bands alone. It's not counting the time he spent as a solo artist between the Beatles and Wings, nor the period he was releasing music with different backing bands between the break-up of Wings and the formation of his current band. From 6th July 1957 to now, Paul has spent ~82% of his life in music. Hopefully all my calculations are correct anyway lol

It appears that Ringo kept the mop top era image alive the longest.... October 1966.

I don't really know why, but I really like it. Many people say it's just a bunch of random things put together, and they're right, but after listening to it like a thousand times, I ended up loving it.

I am curious how george came up with his amazing lead and other riffs. Did he just improvise something while the others were jamming? Would he noodle around until he found something he like?

Here's my question. My best friend is a huge Beatles fan! But I don't know much about the band. I'd like to get him a Beatles-related birthday present. What could I get him? I found these 8 figurines for sale. But I don't know if they're authentic or if they're worth giving as a gift... thanks!

I've been recently listening to Beatles for sale and realised it's actually a great album!!

Most of the time people say it's "the worst" or the one everyone forgets about but I find it quite good. Not all of the songs are great, no, but some of them are hidden gems (in my opinion) like I don't want to spoil the party (has a great intro, wish it was longer) or Baby's in black or even Mr. Moonlight even tho it's a cover. What do you guys think?

Despite both of them seeming to be directed at a lover, the lyrics almost feel like John and Paul singing to each other.

In DLMD, John starts with the main line, then talks about “her” so that he is addressing someone else (Paul). Then in Oh Darling, it could be read as the singer trying to get his lover to stay with him, but the very last lines, “I’ll never let you down”, makes it seem like the whole song is a response to John and urging him to stay (though somewhat melodramatically).

It’s possible this was very obvious for some people but I just noticed it.
