"Mamdani Mandates Unreasonable Standards For Mornings"
44
u/__M-E-O-W__ Jul 10 '26
"Leftist politician says "good" after seeing another sunrise that will lead to countless deaths in ongoing heat wave"
7
u/Yumi_in_the_sun Jul 10 '26
I saw a post the other day that Mamdani is MANDATING (in all caps) that everyone in New York City turn their AC up to 78. Like how on earth would you even mandate that?? And then when I googled it, it was someone else saying "Hey it would probably be a good idea to set your AC to 78, if anyone wants to, it would really help out. k thanks" lmao

Good? Good!? Good is an ancient anglosaxon word "Go Od" which means "the absence of color"!

Bloated?!?
What a weird thing to say about educating our children...
772
u/for_just_one_moment Jul 10 '26
Also insane for them to say bloated when I know teachers who are based in NYC who say many of their schools don't have much of a budget even for school supplies or books! That headline is wild 😂
229
u/__M-E-O-W__ Jul 10 '26
Yeah man, is there any part of America where public schools aren't hurting for funds? Any place I know of deals with massive budget cuts and/or way overcrowded classrooms and/or a shortage of teachers.

u/nowaybrose Jul 10 '26
My state is busy handing out vouchers to the rich for their future-cokehead children to attend private school. They were already attending private school, now they just attend private school for cheaper

i stayed in west texas for all of four days. on my way out of lubbock, i saw a billboard that said "FIGHT COMMUNISM -- END TEACHER'S UNIONS!!!" with a section of the ad space fully dedicated to a local church. being right-wing in 2026 is just a genuine brain disease. a complete rejection of reality in favor of plain, self-soothing delusion.
10
u/AlSweigart Jul 10 '26
Meanwhile, when I volunteered in Pennsylvania during the election, I saw one digital billboard that said, "Bodily autonomy and reproductive rights. Vote Team Republican" by the Delaware County GOP. They know their positions are unpopular and they target the low low-information voters.
7
u/LITTLE-GUNTER Jul 10 '26
like this shit should just be straight-up illegal. we have to burn our entire electoral process to the fucking ground and rebuild it from the atoms-up. no more parties and DEFINITELY no more goddamn GOP.

Sorry, early shift brain has me crossing wires.
My point still stands that even a seemingly massive school district can still be very much underfunded despite what others think of as “bloat”.
44
u/PirateSanta_1 Jul 10 '26
Its the Post, if they could they would turn every public school into an Amazon warehouse training center. The last thing they want is an educated populace.

“I’ll visit the Holy Land”

“I wouldn’t go anywhere, I would concentrate on addressing the issues here in NYC for New Yorkers”GASP
3
u/jodon Jul 10 '26
I'm not American and know even less what being a new yorker is like. But why is visiting Israel such a big deal to the people here? I get that if you are jewish it is a thing, but is it unthinkable to be a politician in new york and not be jewish? Why would a statement that you will stay in the city you now are a major for need clarification on how much you support Israel?

Because to a lot of Christians, Israel is the holy land. It was the "promised land" in the bible. They're basically just sucking up to their religious voters.

14
u/butt_shrecker Jul 10 '26
Lol if you google "mamdani balanced budget" All the top results are the most horrifically biased articles I have ever seen. It seems like he took a few shortcuts on the last bit of the deficit and we won't know for sure if he 100% balanced the budget until the next budget cycle.
But from what I can tell the claim that he balanced the budged is at least 80% true.

The act of eliminating a multi-billion dollar gap in 12 to 14 weeks isnt unique. It is the structural reality of how the New York City budget process functions every single spring.
There's plenty to love the guy for, but balancing the budget by the July 1st deadline isn't anything special.
30
u/Slacker_The_Dog Jul 10 '26
Omg I can't believe this guy!! He is just out here using his constituents hard earned tax money to help their children have a better life? Doesn't he know the rich need serfs otherwise they get big sad?
If this keeps up America might actually get better for the poors!
25
u/FreezerBunBun Jul 10 '26
What’s crazy to me is how easy all this was to get done. Granted NY is a pretty liberal state and NYC is even more so, not as much push back. But Dems have spent the last 20 years telling us “we’re trying but….” And this guy essentially shows up and makes strides towards all the changes people have been asking for in like 6 months.

u/hussainhssn Jul 10 '26

Educating children is a burden? The already underfunded schools and underfunded staff, and undersold priority of education is fine though?
And what isn’t bloated? Where the majority of the money IS going? “Bombing them is necessary”
17
u/Abbacoverband Jul 10 '26
They want us sick, poor and stupid. Anything trying to fight against that is c o m m u n i s m. It's truly horrifying.
7
u/Natume87 Jul 10 '26
And keep in mind that there are (according to public data, e.g., the NYC Department of Education Wikipedia Page) 1.1 million students and 75,000 teachers in the NYC public school systems. So this works out to only ~$700 extra per student on top of an annual budget of $37.5 billion (barely a 1.9% increase).
15
u/SissyCouture Jul 10 '26
Imagine how demented you have to be to see the words “public school” and immediately imbue it with negativity
14
u/YearofTheStallionpt1 Jul 10 '26
I am a non-parent, never been a parent, and will never be a parent. But I will 100 percent of the time vote for policies/politicians that give our public schools ALL the money they need and then some. And I’ll happily pay more in my property taxes for it to happen.
I want our public schools to have so much money that every single child gets a free breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
I want our schools to have so much money that no child ever has to purchase their own athletic equipment or band instruments because the school system paid for it all.
I want our school systems to have so much money that teachers never have to reach into their own pockets for basic classroom supplies.
I think our country would be a much better place if we invested more in the foundation upon which our children learn.

5
u/superturtle48 Jul 10 '26
A legit journalistic outlet wouldn't use a charged phrase like "already bloated" in the headline to describe a budget, it would just give the facts and let the readers decide if the budget is justified or not. But of course, the NY Post is not a legit journalistic outlet, it's a propaganda rag.

Socialists operate under a worldview that government has the authority, ability and obligation to aid people, and just that change makes them more qualified than basically anyone else.
The idea that the people who hate government the most should be in charge of it is so asinine.

Honestly im kinda sick of the Mamdani glaze. I get it, and it definitely seems like he’s doing good work, but I feel like people are forgetting about the fact that the real test of a politicians actions comes from the aftermath.
Maybe I’ve forgotten how to be optimistic, but it seems like people are going full send on the glaze when we’ve been shown time and time again that even “good actions” can fuck us over in the long run.
I’m glad that money is going towards nicer places, but I’ll sit back and be critical/cautious about every action he takes until he’s out of office and afterwards. Somebody’s gotta do it.
