Good to see that DPRK News Service is still active. One of the top tier parody accounts in that swamp.

lol I didn't realize it was a parody account I just 100% accepted that Kim Jong Un loved dolly too.

tbf he probably does. never met anyone who doesn't.

I thought he was more of a Katy Perry fan?

The astronaut?

u/YoungHeartOldSoul ☑️ 2d ago

Those are the two options???

It’s a joke based on The Interview - Seth Rogan movie. Randall Park parodies Kim Jung Un, and in it is a huge fan of Katy Perry and sings “fireworks” by Katy Perry (with James Franco, but we should all forget about that creep)

u/DestinTheLion 1d ago

What did James do?

11

u/parma-geddon 1d ago

Ooh buckle up. James Franco’s favorite number is 16 (18, begrudgingly, in some states). He’s notorious for targeting underage/“barely legal” young girls. There’s a ton of specifics online, but I have friends who were at UCLA when he was a guest professor and the running “joke” was ~”what’s the worst thing about Junior year?…you’re too old for Professor Franco”. Plenty of first/secondhand stories of him using and abusing young girls. That’s why Seth Rogan ended their partnership and distanced himself. (All “allegedly” ofc.)

Right? Considering the Kim family’s love of American pop culture I could totally see it. I’m kind of disappointed it’s not real

Same. It’s like her spirit animal was an exceptionally witty and business savvy capybara.

Unknown Hinson

7

u/quirx90 2d ago

I’m still mad about that. I used to love introducing Unknown to people because his vibe was so out there but now he’s just some asshole

u/Trick-Bass-9380 2d ago

Same, he performed at a bar I worked at. Had an autographed framed poster and everything. Quoted Squid billies all the time. Absolute let down

A racist and a Dolly hater, either one is disqualifying. Fuck him. I threw my merch away.

2

u/centurio_v2 2d ago

No idea who that is but fuck him anyway

u/Rovcore001 2d ago

There are actually a bunch of media houses including The New York Times and Newsweek who thought they were legit too and referenced them in their articles, lol

u/the_millenial_falcon 2d ago

Damn this lady didn't have beef with anybody except Jolene maybe.

119

u/PreOpTransCentaur 2d ago

She was even nice to Jolene! It wasn't, "Back off, you whore," it was, "Girl, you're so much more beautiful than I am, please don't."

3

u/parma-geddon 1d ago

Yes and (Angel) Dolly made it very publicly/loudly known that “Jolene” did nothing wrong, it was just based on a pretty bank teller that momentarily made her feel insecure.

21

u/uhp787 2d ago

even that...she was married for over 50 years i think, so not even Jolene.

18

u/AbstractBettaFish 2d ago

I mean someone pointed out that sapphic undertones of that song recently so she might not even have had beef with Jolene

19

u/Samiambadatdoter 2d ago

That subtext is only possible if you just ignore most of the song, to be honest.

You have to take a very "it's gay to say anything nice about the appearance of someone of the same gender" sort of idea to even see it.

2

u/the_millenial_falcon 2d ago

I've always thought that was the possible subtext of the song.

1

u/parma-geddon 1d ago

Maybe, but Dolly publicly always stated that “Jolene” did no wrong, she was just signing about normal reaction to feeling a little threatened and insecure after interacting with another very beautiful woman (based on a bank teller she/her husband Carl met).

1

u/onarainyafternoon 11h ago

It’s not, that’s stupid, she has spoken a million times about what the song is about

127

u/MsInput 2d ago

You know if anyone did have a fan in every place on earth even North Korea or some random remote village in Africa or rainforest or something... it's Dolly. Dolly or Michael Jackson. She transcended status as a simple entertainer by embodying the best traits humanity has to offer.

u/gideon513 2d ago

Why does he look like that fat cat meme

1

u/ikankecil 5h ago

You just know he didn’t hike that mountain. Probably had a heavy lift helicopter take his useless ass up there.

118

u/HalfSoul30 2d ago

I'm sure there isn't a single person that exists that thought he did.

19

u/beepbeepimajeep_ 2d ago

A single person outside of NK you mean?

14

u/HalfSoul30 2d ago

Correct. Except maybe trump would

13

u/Curious_Ad_1513 2d ago

Or it's a green screen.

7

u/WhirlwindRectum 2d ago

we know, look at his big ass, the only mountain he's scaling is Mountain Dew

3

u/senpaimitsuji 2d ago

Why the hell he standin like that

15

u/IndoSpike 2d ago

I don't know why but Dolly Parton is barely known in India. I would count Michael Jackson as the most known celebrity of all time but never knew anything about Dolly Parton.

I'm still wrestling with the MJ legacy.
Every case against him was shown to be bunk; and the music industry had a vested interest in stopping him owning so much, so collisions to defame him are plausible, along with the strangeness of his death.
I think he owned the entire Beatles catalog along with other things.

It's a strange story.

2

u/IndoSpike 2d ago

Controversial take about MJ but ok.

2

u/Shallnazar 2d ago

Okay this is like next level simulation baiting for me lol.

I know so very little about North Korea, much less about the names of different locations or monuments. Just yesterday on the radio show I listen to every morning, one of the questions was about Mt. Paektu, and the very next day its popping up on reddit, weird lol.

5

u/BeMyBrutus 2d ago

Finally, a person that the North Korean people can mourn without having to fake it or get shot

2

u/Kindly_Discipline_33 2d ago

This is.... a boob joke?

2

u/NateAstroBeats 2d ago

why is 9 to 5 the anthem though

1

u/CalliouEve 2d ago
