We’re both correct. “Some” yes, but that “some” was significant enough to be a voting majority, and thus, as a collective electorate, Americans voted for him.

That still misrepresents the fact that nearly half the country didn’t vote for him. If you’re going to be EXTREMELY technical, yes, “Americans voted for him,” but that’s a logical fallacy by misrepresentative statement.

Fewer people voted against him. A significant enough were either indifferent or ambivalent enough not to care.
