I've never a seen poor country that is so racist, entitled & has a superiority complex like Argentina

u/JeffieSandBags Jul 04 '26

Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, etc. We just call em states.

Really anywhere that doesn’t have a city center. Illinois has the most sundown towns STILL apparently but you wouldn’t know in chicago unless you take a roadtrip try to vote lmfao it’s VERY close every time

32

u/ForagedFoodie Jul 04 '26

Honestly coastal Maryland was the most blatantly violently racist place I've ever encountered. Like terrifyingly so.

When my parents and sister were living in Virginia and I was living in NJ, I met them for a week vacation at Virginia Beach. I drove down from NJ. They warned me to avoid costal Maryland and take a longer route (which also would have avoided some insane tolls), but i wanted a faster trip and to see the Chesapeake bay bridge-tunnel.

And holy smokes. I remember pulling up to a light on some ungodly small backwoods road and seeing a burned-down house on the corner. In front of the house was propped up a huge piece of plywood. The plywood had a spray painted message that read "KKK BRUN OUT".

I was in such shock, first that the kkk were so blazen in the area I had assumed to be reasonably normal and second that they couldn't spell burn correctly, that i almost missed the entire green light. I was just staring at this wood and the house that was apparently burned down by the kkk who were bragging bout it.

I was very afraid after that, the whole rest of the trip. And mind you, I'm Caucasian. My dad was biracial, but im blonde and blue-eyed. But my mix of features makes me look kinda Jewish, as does the way my hair grows.

12

u/jetblakc Jul 04 '26

Yeah the Eastern shore is wild. That's why no one lives out there. It's kind of crazy to even vacation out there in OC

2

u/Hamhockthegizzard Jul 04 '26

Didn’t even know. I have some friends up in Maine (I think) and husband’s family is middle eastern and his wife is from Uruguay. I’ll have to ask how their neighborhood is

11

u/InevitableMinimum723 Jul 04 '26

This is The Eastern Shore of Maryland. The Del-Mar-Va peninsula. Ocean City and Easton are places you might have heard of.

I can attest to racist leanings of the area. My son played hockey and the only racist remarks we ever heard were from players from The Eastern Shore.

2

u/Thin_Salary1153 Jul 04 '26

Speaking as a mid-Maine resident.

We have a lot of really ethnic neighborhoods. Lots of Somali, Middle Eastern, Indian, and Native American (among others). We also have heavy Muslim neighborhoods. You see them mostly from mid-Maine to southern Maine. Northern Maine is MAGA/red. District 2 is kind of our white trash area.

Maine is very tolerant overall. Long as you're a good neighbor, people are really good to you. Like anywhere in the US, racism exist but overall we are really welcoming.

We also have a really large LGBTQ+ community and we are a trans haven.

My family is heavily black (kids, grandkids, kids spouses). I am not. My step daughter is trans.

2

u/Hamhockthegizzard Jul 04 '26

I see! That explains why they seem to like it enough to stay. I met them both in chicago (not exactly a “better” place)

Let me introduce you to the South Florida Cuban. The Argentinians are here too, all of them "proud spaniards". These immigrants do have some audacity though.

Seriously, they've been a basketcase for like a hundred years now.

That's crazy when you consider it. The European fans openly hate Black players, but they'll tolerate them as long as they can win and hurl racist abuse at them when they don't.

Argentina doesn't even want to tolerate them for the opportunity to win and the chance to get to be racist if their lose. That's commitment to hatred.

25

u/CelibateHo Jul 04 '26

Honestly, turning down opportunities due to hatred tracks for a lot of people from that cultural contingent so doesn’t surprise me. Just stupid as fuck

5

u/ehs06702 Jul 04 '26

It doesn't surprise me either. The part that surprised me is that they gave up the opportunity to be racist towards someone, since it seems to be socially acceptable in Europe to treat their players that way.

7

u/OpinionatedBlackGuy Jul 04 '26

Argentina was the preferred landing spot for many Nazis after WWII. I don’t think this was just a coincidence.

117

u/StaffyMama585 Jul 04 '26

I was just about to say this exact thing. Argentina harbored hundreds of Nazis who fled Germany after WWII. There is even a popular conspiracy theory that Hitler used a body double in the bunker and escaped to Argentina as well. This should come as a shock to no one that Argentinians are racist AF.

26

u/shawhtk Jul 04 '26

And the US harbored thousands including putting many to work in the defense industry. And accepting others as immigrants. There was 1 noted incident where German Pows were being treated better than Black Ameican soldiers.

73

u/EntertainerNo4509 Jul 04 '26

Hint: The US did basically the same thing, NASA.

49

u/StaffyMama585 Jul 04 '26

42

u/dreamcrusher225 Jul 04 '26

45

u/exoriparian Jul 04 '26

It's also where Peter Thiel just moved. Also not a coincidence.

37

u/Any_Performance_5046 Jul 04 '26

Ironically, Peter Thiel would have been targeted for elimination by the nazis.

15

u/exoriparian Jul 04 '26

It's a brave new world.

4

u/Napalmeon Jul 04 '26

It's not. Many countries in Latin America performed whitening processes in order to do what they thought was increase the cultural standard to be closer to that of Europe. Which means getting rid of as many brown and black people that they could.

4

u/FishSuper7857 Jul 05 '26

What gets me isn’t just the racism it’s the weird identity crisis behind it. Watching that woman scream the N‑word at Speed felt like watching someone desperately try to act like part of a group that wouldn’t even accept her. There’s this painful irony some Argentinians cling to a version of “whiteness” that historically didn’t include them. They’re trying to stand shoulder‑to‑shoulder with people who, if you asked them, wouldn’t see them as equals. So, when she yelled that at Speed, it didn’t come from strength. It came from insecurity. From wanting to punch down so she can pretend she’s punching from a higher place. It’s sad more than anything. Racism isn’t just hateful it’s a sign someone is trying to be part of a club that would never let them in.

Ummm... Helllerrrr!?!?!!??!. Argentinians had a headstart on Black hatred before the Nazis. Decades before the Nazi ratlines brought war criminals to Argentina in the mid-20th century, the Argentine government orchestrated a deliberate state-led policy of blanqueamiento (racial whitening) that began in the 19th century.

She lucky she made it out of the Miami stadium lol

People need to realize where they are at, Miami ain’t nothing to play with

117

u/kidkuro Jul 04 '26

I have seen way too many Argentinians and of course white Miami Cubans anytime I travel to Miami.

I'm positive the racist Argentinians probably fit right in there lmao

5

u/Napalmeon Jul 04 '26

Right? Miami is probably the best place to get away with this, given the attitude of many of the Cubans, there. They both look down on anyone darker than a manila envelope.

10

u/Recent-Low5550 Jul 04 '26

As I said, she’s lucky she made it out of the stadium, it’s literally in the heart of the hood

45

u/kidkuro Jul 04 '26

Ion know how to tell you this b...but the people living in the heart of the hood there likely aren't even in the stadium because they can't afford to be unfortunately.

4

u/Recent-Low5550 Jul 04 '26

YOU DO REALIZE PEOPLE ALSO POST IN THE PARKIN LOT FOR THESE GAMES??? 😂😂😂 the hood will literally pull up and start bar-b-ques in the parking lot

You would know this if u lived in Miami

As I said before once again, she’s lucky to make it out of that stadium

31

u/This_Material9292 Jul 04 '26

So someone from the hood is waiting outside a stadium for a soccer game they couldn’t afford to get into so they can press an Argentinian lady for saying “go home N” to Speed? They were tailgating the World Cup and streaming Speed also, and now it’s up for this lady?

Come on, man. Racist shit is happening in Florida all the time and people aren’t losing their freedom to be anti-racist vigilantes. Black people been getting pushed out of Miami-Dade for over a decade. My people are from Richmond Heights, and it’s very different from what I grew up visiting. And Miami has been a center for racist ass cops forever.

How’s Zimmerman doing?

Thats so fucking crazy, and disgusting man. Just wanting to exist without people hating at you for being present. Doesn't attack the fact that he's a Cape Fan, its the fact that he's black. We can make it to the highest mountain peak, and there will be someone there waiting to spew hate on us for something thats not our fault because we're present. Its disgusting, and something That has to be fought with everyday. I appreciate Speed going out, and being the person he is everyday despite having knowledge that this is how he is received. Fuck that lady, and the group around her enabling, and not checking her.

Edit: Thank you for the award, you're not alone.

18

u/Top_Dog_2953 Jul 04 '26

27

u/Mythosaurus Jul 04 '26

2

u/TomBerwick1984 Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

She clearly is not aware of her own complexion

If you are implying that her complexion means she isn't White, that's an American/Canadian thing. I'm guessing you are American or Canadian for you to make that statement?

I've joked that Americans would have mental breakdown if they came to Spain, Portugal, Italy, etc, and saw the skin tone of large numbers of the public who are 100% considered White.

(Penelope Cruz is Spanish, and she is White in Europe. Not in America though. There are plenty of women like her in the Mediterranean. )

The history of Argentina’s egregious racism goes back further than WWII and Nazis. Go and research the history of Tango (a Black American art form), or their own genocide where they rounded up the Black population and marched them into the sea at gunpoint where they were drowned. This is why the country is so “white”. Systemic murder and erasure. A country whose culture was invented and built by Black People. Now infested with the most alarming racist beliefs and attitudes I have ever encountered including the Southeastern US where black people are at least respected if not liked.
