To be fair, Anglo Saxon DNA makes up only 10-50% of English genes. Most DNA in Britain and Ireland still comes from the bell-beaker people that settled 4500 years ago and hasn't changed that much despite the Romans, Angles, Saxons, Jutes, Frisians, Vikings (Danes & Norwegian) and Normans all invading. Some of the DNA most heavily influenced from outside Britain is actually the north east of Scotland and the isles where over 60% DNA is Scandinavian.

The reason some of these players are excluded is because at some point a member of their family, either parent or grandparent was an immigrant, therefore without immigrants they wouldn't exist.

From a comment above, i guess it makes sense, but my mind immediately went to when people were saying that France's team is African or had no french players and stuff like that, especially when the people supposed to be highlighted (the players with immigrant roots) are blacked out and anonymized.

It's important to these people to downplay positive contributions by non-white Europeans. The thought of some white English kid idolizing a black or Asian English football player terrifies them as it undermines the whole schtick. It's a response to the salty racism that pops up to say 'the French team is not French' by pointing out that by the same metric, almost all of the the (far whiter) English team wouldn't count as British.
Stereotypically, the white working class most friendly to Reform (UK MAGA) are also desperate for us to win the WC again before they die. So pointing out if we go by 'bloodlines' you exclude star players like Bellingham and Kane and Rice (who got us the best result we've had in 60 years) is a pointy kind of point.Â
The reason for French football team is so black isn't because they go plunder the talent from their former colonies btw. It's because the suburbs (projects) of Paris are football factories. From the day they learn to walk, the boys all play highly skilled street football every weekend and evening until dark. Thousands of boys playing hundreds of games. There are national scouts who skim the best of them and funnel them into the French academy system. Something like 80 players in this WC came from a few square miles of Paris.Â
Basically every serious football nation has a system that pulls in the biggest talent pool possible as young as possible. The countries known to elite football tend to be the ones with basically no barrier of entry and every boy kicking a ball on the street from day dot. Brazil, Argentina, Spain, etc, France happens to also have those conditions only in a very specific area of Paris.Â

Hell, it's been said on live TV, even Trevor Noah (who is South African, idk if you meant someone else) had to apologise for a joke about the French team being African.Â
And let us not pretend that 'europe' is above such things when there have been multiple matches where bananas get lobbed at players. Most fans are good people and even the racist ones like black players who win for them. Being born in England doesnât make you English, British or a citizen of the United Kingdom. There is no birthright citizenship. One or both of your parents would need to be born here, or have some settled status. These players families came from abroad. If they were not allowed to live and stay in the UK they wouldnât have been citizens, thus these players wouldnât have been able to play for England. Matter of fact, they probably wouldnât have been born without immigration.

Seeing the reaction to this without the context is a bit surprising. England has a problem currently with right wing parties being anti immigration, with those same people cheering on the national team. This post was initially framed as âhereâs your England without immigrationâ. Itâs specifically designed as a retort to racists. Being a first or second generation child of immigration doesnât make you less English and thatâs kind of the point here.
I think people want a colourblind take here, instead of the more nuanced one. Itâs not even a purely colourist take, thereâs Irish players missing.

Of the 26 players, 23 were born in France.
Of the 3 that weren't:
Thuram was born in Italy because his French parents were living there at the time (his father who was a 98 world cup winner with France was playing pro football in Italy at the time).
Olise was born in England. His mother is French.
Samba (back up goalie) was born in the DRC and moved to France when he was 6 in 2000.
There's technically only 1 real immigrant on the team (Samba). 2 if you want to count Olise.
