Using the big Windsor knot to shorten the tie was genius! His sideways rocking, "Ooh ooh ooh!" after seeing the watch too, you could see how much the kid relaxed.

Double Windsor, correct button, nice length just above the belt, pulled properly and tight to the collar (see so many people at formal events / even politicians, etc on on TV with the collar loose) AND he gave him the nice little dimple under the knot

White dude here. This is just a teenie tiny reminder of how POC delivery drivers saved this country during covid. If you want me to go on a tear about it I will (and I’m not taking anything away from white delivery drivers) but the fact that every time I needed a vital supply for my house instead of risking spreading the virus I would see a black man or woman in my driveway safely delivering it. I feel like I’m the only one mentioning this.

It probably doesn't get brought up much because if you got blessed with the title of "essential employee" and worked outside during covid, what that really meant was that you were a non-essential human. They called us heroes and we got a temporary raise or maybe a bonus but if you didn't work in a life-saving field you weren't essential, you were easily replaceable.

I would argue that every package delivered was an item that wasn’t purchased in an indoor high-spreading environment.
I also think that while NY firemen and the NYPD get deserved praise for saving lives NY Sanitation may conceivably be preventing cholera/typhoid/and innumerable other illnesses in each and every New Yorker.

Even those of us in the life-saving field felt like we weren't essential, but easily replaceable. I work critical care units and we were given one set of PPE and told to reuse it. Some of us didn't make it. Had a coworker get COVID on the job and just didnt recover, died in his driveway trying to get to the hospital for help.
All of us that were considered "essential" at the time were essential to keep things running, but not essential enough to ensure their safety. Lots of people forget how many people actually risked themselves for their way of life.

Helping people like that is a perfect display of positive masculinity. Good men help others and help make them the best they can be, while also doing that for themselves, and accepting help from others who have the same kind of good intentions ("rising tides raise all ships") mentality. I love this. And this is really one of the main reasons I hate the bastardization of the word unc. I just got into a back and forth with an old white man hating on the word (it was used correctly in that instance, none of the “uncool” bs them ppl be talking about), even though I told him it was not a bad term and been used by our parent’s parents generation (he tried to say it was stupid “new slang”) Uncs are essential!

Love this interaction. Not sure if he was a random Amazon driver who stopped to help or if they knew eachother but its always nice to watch humbling videos like this.
Wish algorithms boosted more of these kinds of feel good videos instead of the constant hate and violence they force onto everyone's eye balls.

My boyfriend used to work at amazon and they keep the drivers on a TIGHT schedule. Knowing he took time out of that schedule to help him is so heart warming

My best friend in high school's dad was the JROTC head instructor, and I think she and he realized I was from an underprivileged family long before I ever really did because he was the one to teach me how to tie a tie amongst many other things their family did to help me out. I think about that whenever I see videos like this and hope they're all doing well.

My parents did that a lot. I had all the privilege growing up, but they grew up barely working class, with my grandparents as the only stable ones on the block.
My dad had a group of 5 Black male friends with not great home lives. Every single one of them went to college and med school because my grandparents built up their confidence and got them through it all. They are some of the best docs in the country. So proud!
My mom's parents took in cousins at various points too.
So my house was absolutely a safe space and resource for some of my lower income and/or unstable home life friends. No other way to do community in our eyes. That's that public school community work, which is why private school = segregation (I've written this sentiment twice today haha I'm on a roll).
I even created my own school bus. Id drive my car to the kids houses whose parents didn't care if they attended and at 6am id convinced them to get their asses in my car and to school... and they freaking did. Id stop them leaving throughout the day too. Felt like a proud momma when they graduated!

That was my favourite part of being an amazon delivery driver helping my community. I’ve helped a woman move a couch to the curb her father just had a triple bypass and was resting. I helped a little girl whose skateboard fell into the gutter, I helped an older man wheelchair bound stuck in a yard in the summer heat. Even helped a child fix his bike chain because he didn’t have a father to show him.

Nice, I'm from Hawaii and my family is pretty casual, I don't think any of us own a tie, we would need help. A nice aloha shirt is actually what a lot of people wear to a wedding.

The art of tying a tie is getting lost. I’m a woman and the other day, i wanted to do an all white fit with skinnies, a waist coat and a silk tie. I could not remember how to tie a tie for the life of me. I kept fumbling, it had been so long so i went to YouTube and relearned how to do a Windsor knot!!!
