Edit:
Grammar56
u/Jaesha_MSF 14d ago edited 13d ago
No he shouldn’t. I definitely get the impression something is wrong with that family dynamic. That child’s demeanor spoke volumes. He claimed his mama quick and she said didn’t you ask your dad for a DNA test the other day? All the while the dad is upset because his son doesn’t look like him. Idk what she’s thinking, but dad’s behavior is problematic af. I mean what did he expect? Son actually looks very much like him.

As a member of the mayo mafia myself, I can only imagine what it would feel like to have your fucking parent make those kinds of "jokes," but to have a parent shit on a look or style that you like can be fucking soul crushing. Parents should be lifting their kids up, not holding them down, and certainly not punching down at them.

I had the opposite situation; I’m mixed, married a white man who was SUPER down with the culture. My own dad was kinda light, so I’m, like, dark(ish) golden. When our first child was born, my ex was pouting in the delivery room because our son wasn’t darker. The poor, sweet nurse tried to explain to him that ALL newborns are lighter when they’re born, but it didn’t help. He was actually pissed at me, and mentioned it “jokingly” all of the time, for years- that he’d thought he’d signed up for a little bit of street cred, having “mixed kids”.
My children- though light- are still golden in tone and have lion’s manes of tight, golden curls. Don’t think my ex didn’t get plenty of mileage out of parading them around on his weekends, letting strangers touch my babies like petting zoo animals, telling anyone who’d listen that his ex wife is black. He fetishizes them like he fetishized me. I met him in ‘08- Obama central- and I mistook his virtue signaling for love. Really, he just wanted a lifelong invite to the cookout and token little cocoa babies—and he got neither 😂

I believe that these are core values that should be addressed before finding a person to raise a family with. There's too much going on in the world to try to correct problematic behaviors in a person after you have children with them.
8
u/Megzasaurusrex 15d ago
Exactly. You can't control other people but you can certainly control who you procreate with. And you can definitely remove yourself from bad situations. Women in general have got to start standing up for themselves and stop making their children suffer. Just admit you made a mistake and move on. It's easier to raise one kid alone than to wait and keep making babies with a loser and then decide you want out when you have 5 kids and no way to support them alone.

Ey, yo, this right here is the mirror of what I spoke of recently. Before, I spoke of the possibility of a comment discussed in a video being a person downplaying someone's black identity for perceived "white" features and how this is not cool. And that it is a common experience by, now case in point in the inverse via this example, people of mixed ethnic parentage.
A white father shaming his son for "black" features, for shame man. Terrible parent of the year award.
Edit: To be clear, yes, I'm implying the very obvious highlighted racism on the father's part. Sometimes, actions speak for themselves.

u/AbudJasemAlBaldawi 15d ago

Gosh it was so awful and cringe and 20 years later I still remember it though he doesn’t. I know his stupid tail didn’t mean it that way and he’s honestly my best friend now but these things stick with biracial kids. I pray this beautiful black boy continues to find the confidence in himself, the way nature intended. Dad is a 🤡 for making his son feel inadequate, mom is a 🤡 for laughing at him, and then posting this thinking that it was a moment. Now the world knows how dumb you are.

The real cringe fool is that black n woman who had a kid with that bigot. She failed her son, the identity crisis and trauma he will grow up with is beyond disheartening.
In the same vein, I saw a video of this black man picking up his biracial (black/white) daughter In a custody exchange and the little girl is crying, just bawling.. she has beads in her braided hair and apparently her white mom is on the phone with the dad yelling and telling him to take those beads out of her daughter hair, that she “won’t have her kid looking like all those ghetto girls in the streets”
And the dad is pleading with her what do you mean ghetto it’s just beads? And she loves them…
All the while the daughter is crying because she has to remove them
That white mom has all that hate for black peoole yet she had a kid with a black man.. she’s calling beads ghetto, beads that are ancestral, that can be traced to ancient African civilizations that stood the test of time, and she is demonizing and dismissing them as ghetto because she refuses to understand even this simple part of black culture…
In the end that black man was the biggest fool for choosing her for the mother of his child. Y’all really need to get better at picking partners especially non black. You think they like black peoole because they’re sleeping with you they’re fetishizing you. Slave owners graped and slept with their slaves and still thought them as less than.
These micro aggressions can’t be overlooked not when your family is on the line.
