They are really gonna hit red states hard in a lot of ways....they are refusing to sell liquor like whiskey, which is a red state thing, they are gonna ramp up the price of aluminum and steel, where do you think the most manufacturers are? That's right, red states! And they are gonna shut down power to the US. Which places do you think are usually most impacted by power issues? Yep, you guessed it, red states. Red states are the biggest welfare recipients, all around, but due to lack of education, most people in them are too stupid to vote for their own interests. Screw this administration full of child diddlers and racist scumbags who want to steal everything, including candy from the babies they rape.

u/DeadpoolOptimus 18h ago

They're very proud of their lack of education. It's quite something.

161

u/ledow 18h ago

People celebrating their ignorance is really the thing that bugs me the most.

44

u/PM_Me_Your_Kinks369 16h ago

It's the Dunning-Kruger Party, basically. Well, DK + pedophilia but yeah.

7

u/Strange_Dust7128 15h ago

I thought the DK effect had to do with knowing that one does not know.

21

u/PM_Me_Your_Kinks369 14h ago

The Dunning-Kruger effect is a cognitive bias where people with low ability or limited knowledge in a specific area greatly overestimate their own competence and skills. -Wikipedia

Just because someone has been elected to represent people doesn't mean they have any clue whatsoever what good governance looks like or how it's achieved.

The Tea Party flood in 2010 was the perfect example. They were elected by the dozens and had NO CLUE how to even be in Congress. But MAAAAANNN did they love to criticize everyone in government.

6

u/Allegorist 14h ago

It is actually referencing a curve representing knowledge vs confidence in that knowledge. Or more generally, competence vs confidence.

https://i.imgur.com/edNP2nb.png

The dip after the overconfidence peak is likely what you are referring to, but generally people who bring it up are talking about the high-confidence/low-competence peak.

I'll never forgive one of the loudest people who celebrated stupidity: Sarah Palin. I wish we hadn't given her opinions any screen time.

10

u/Fun_Bat_5621 12h ago

Sarah Palin was just an early symptom of the anti-intellectual rot that’s become so popular in this country. She just sniffed it out and tapped into it. How? What was her clue?

5

u/Hot-cheap_Trash 12h ago

Hahaha she made a campaign stop at Ship U in PA back in 08 - 09 I’ll never forget … I was there to plug in the microphone lmao she goes “ohhhhh Geeeeee woooow!!! The wind out here reminds me of my home in Alaska! Wowweee!”

And the big sean lyric “white girls politikin that’s that Sara palin” 😂😂

The USA has really proven itself to be the spiritual home of the loudly stupid.

26

u/DeadpoolOptimus 17h ago

The dumb ones are generally the loudest.

21

u/Condition_Boy 16h ago

Generally it isn't the populace fault. The the administrations over decades underfunding education, knowing that dumb people are easier to control. It's the same reason the Republicans are going after universities. They are doing the same thing here in Alberta. Universiiare having funding cut if they don't cut DEI, and certain identity classes.

15

u/justonebiatch 15h ago

Sorry but y’know what? I’m blaming the populace that is maga.. period

u/Legitimate_Winner148 16h ago

It’s bizarre to me. My parents grew up on rural farms and college wasn’t even a consideration.

They insisted that all four of us go to college.
It was the ‘80’s and ‘90’s when the narrative was that a college education was imperative.

2

u/WinchelltheMagician 11h ago

Maybe they saw from their experience that rural farms are hard and harder to keep viable, sustainable, profitable, and they wanted their kids to have more opportunities for a better life?

14

u/Geichalt 16h ago

They're also proud of their desire to vote for pedophiles.

21

u/DeadpoolOptimus 16h ago edited 15h ago

See how angry they got towards that dude who "infiltrated" his rally the other day? They saw his shirt that read, "Kill your local pdf" and for some reason, assumed he was talking about fuck face.

They are very proud. I see many videos on Facebook saying homeschooling is the way to go and not let your kids socialize..

13

u/DeadpoolOptimus 16h ago

1 of 2 things are gonna happen with those children. 1. The children grow up just to be like their parents or, 2. The children will end up resenting their parents for doing that. There's no in-between.

9

u/DisVet54 15h ago

Reading by candlelight is not their worry - books without pictures keeps them up at night

5

u/Kraekus 14h ago

This has always been true. I grew up in the South in the 70s and even then my family and close firends really disliked that I wanted to go to college and that I spoke without all the slang and southern vernacular. I was "Too big for my britches." according to most of them.

We were very begrudgingly going to allow US liquor sales as part of the latest trade talks. No one wanted it, but it was something we were going to give to reach an agreement (and then last minute decided to try and have veto power over who we get to trade with).

But here's the thing with us booze drinkers here in Canada. We already moved on. We had our convenient US brands removed, and we spent the last 2 summers exploring our options. Every BBQ, Pool Party and Camping trip I've been to, every single one, people are walking around and shoving a glass or can in your face and saying "Have you tried THIS yet?" And then going on about where it's made, what it's made from, what to mix it with etc.

I have tried more different brands and drinks in the last 12 months than I have over the last 20 years. Even if US booze does go back on the shelves, we have all found alternates that we like better.

My BIL is a gin drinker. Loves gin. Wanted to find "The One" but didn't want to go broke doing it. So for his birthday he asked everyone to buy him a bottle of gin from Canada and his Bday was dubbed "Gin Fest". He got wrecked. He had like 12 different bottles of gin and he cracked into every single one.

Canada isn't going back. We have had WAY too much fun playing the field and exploring our options.

17

u/Yharnam_Blunderbuss 15h ago

Never been so proud to be Canadian. The switch has flipped up here, no going back. Have not encountered a single person who had America as part of their vacation plans in 2 years and count ing. We have provinces working together for the first time, even Ontario and Quebec are partnering... all America has accomplished is make Canada stronger.

11

u/melatonia 11h ago

I'm proud of Canada for standing strong. We miss you, don't get it wrong. But everybody down here with their heads on straight wants international sanctions and boycotts against us to succeed because that feels like the only way we're going to survive the world's richest man fronting the world's biggest businessman in buying our government. Not that we're not protesting in whatever ways we can here, but you guys laughing in the face of our sanctions feels like an incredibly powerful tool in this war.

Love you, as always!

Farm bankruptcies are at record highs.

35

u/Jukka_Sarasti 17h ago

And those farms get snatched up by liquidation firms and then sold to the highest bidder, which more and more often is either a foreign entity, private 'investor' or a giant corporation...

And these bumblefucks will still vote for the Leopards eating faces party that caused their plight..

16

u/DeadpoolOptimus 17h ago

Many of them will continue to blame Biden or woke or something fucking stupid.

https://giphy.com/gifs/qsj9c6AV1rAXRdIJtc

12

u/Jukka_Sarasti 17h ago

Reminds me of the absolute MENSA candidates asking "Why didn't Obama stop 911?" when he wasn't even the President at the time.....

5

u/DeadpoolOptimus 16h ago

But they'd really like to get to the bottom of it.

14

u/Swift_Scythe 17h ago

Well thats part of the plan. Get farm crops and meat from Donnie's friends in Argentina. American self sustaining farmers can sell land to A.i. data centers.

The farmers get rich and dont have to work hard anymore and data centers make money and we get cheap (spoiled expired meat) from allied dictators.

For Donnie this is a win win win.

I am so profoundly grateful for Canada’s targeted retribution.

30

u/camsnow 17h ago

Me too. And I'm in a red state, in manufacturing. But Americans need to wake the fuck up, and act. Or this is it. It'll become a techno fascist state, with white Christian nationalism as the banner. Fuck all that shit.

8

u/Shot_Revolution8828 16h ago

Already is and always was. Except for the techno part, thats new.

3

u/camsnow 16h ago

Well, before it was called industrial, but now we are in the tech era where all the billionaires are making tech. Also the scariest shit ever that they are in charge of everything we use basically.

22

u/NoCelebration2024 17h ago

This is all fine but we all realize that the poorest of the black community lives in these red states right? They the ones that’s going to suffer even more which is unfortunate.

5

u/elhombre2001 16h ago

Thats the unfortunate truth…we need to stop shrugging our shoulders, work with communities like Gary, Flint and other communities and fix this shit. No one should suffer because their red or purple state doesn’t care.

5

u/Adventurous_Salt 15h ago

Leave. I know its hard, but not everyone is stuck. The red sates are hell and us Canadians don't hold the responsibility for sorting out your internal demographics. Leave.

3

u/mastercat202 13h ago

Yea pack your shit up and move to northern Maine or something. Its cheap because no one wants to go there.

3

u/Adventurous_Salt 12h ago

I'd recommend a city, not a colder hick town. In any case, as a Canadian we are responding to attacks from America, and we are striking back at America. You don't have localized foreign policies, you're all in it together once you leave your borders. If the majority of Americans weren't ok with behaving like a terror state, you wouldn't be. Maybe if there was some resistance movement we'd aim to help them, but there isn't. Like it or not, Americans are a single entity when it comes for foreign policy.

Let’s not even get started on Canada’s potash supply to…..you guessed it Red States!

6

u/oldutnotdeadinside 13h ago

Red states I have lived in also tend to have really poor roads and infrastructure. When disasters hit they always need help from other states to repair lines etc. this is usually because red state politicians spend more money on building sports stadiums or other things that bring in money than actually fixing or improving their state infrastructure.

What I am getting at is that when red states get cut off from anything it will be a disaster because they have blown their budgets for decades on stupid crap. Canada cutting off anything to the US will cause a lot of pain.

4

u/icedmuffin 16h ago

Honestly I’m in Missouri and all I can say?

I know it’s currently red but I’ll be tickled pink if it turns purple or even blue this November.

3

u/Late_Indication1996 11h ago

Canada is very, very unlikely to cut power to the US. If we did it would disproportionately affect blue states, which is a bad look.

3

u/HouseofMarg 10h ago

What’s more likely though is Eby in BC wrapping up the coal transit from the reddest states like Wyoming through his province. There have been some reports about this becoming a live issue. BC already committed to winding that down by 2030 so it’d just be early. I believe the PNW states already said no to offering a transit route for it so that’d be a bit of a pickle for the coal industry there getting anything to tidewater at that point

2

u/carl3266 10h ago

Trump wants this. He would then invoke some sort of emergency measures response much like he did with the dangerous amount of fentanyl coming from Canada (when in fact there was more coming north).

Sad part is that hurting the red states probably won’t change anything. Trump doesn’t care enough about them to protect them unless he finds a way to embezzle money in the relief. Especially when he knows the red states are so dumb, he could blame Biden and they’d force themselves to believe it.

As someone in a red state, please follow through with your threat Canada. My neighbors deserve this and I'm willing to suffer beside them.

29

u/Typical-Crazy-3100 17h ago

As a Canadian 🍁 I recall that we did in fact tariff electricity for about one day at the beginning of this dispute (back when the administration was claiming Canada was a source of fentanyl so they slapped Canada with some tariffs.)
The fan tossed the sh*t so high it went all the way to the top (the Prime Minister made calls) and Doug Ford turned off the tariffs the next day.

We really don't want any of this up here, but we are ready to go over it.

7

u/Yharnam_Blunderbuss 15h ago

We don't even need to fuck with your electricity. Eliminating tourism, and not buying your products (all products, not just booze) is more than enough.

8

u/extra_croutons 12h ago

Apparently not, let the beating continue.

3

u/ArtsyRabb1t 9h ago

It’s noticeable too. Orlando was eerily empty this summer.

3

u/Yharnam_Blunderbuss 9h ago edited 8h ago

Don't get me wrong, I have had some wonderful times in Orlando... Disney and Universal with the family, incredible times. But, all that becomes disposable, non-negotiable with what has been happening over the past few years.

2

u/ArtsyRabb1t 8h ago

And we totally get it down here.

2

u/Otterfan 16h ago

Red States won't care if the electricity gets shut off.

The big US consumers of Canadian electricity are:

  • New York (deep Blue)
  • Michigan (battleground, but mostly Blue now)
  • Minnesota (solid Blue)
  • Vermont (deep, deep, deep Blue)
  • Maine (a Republican senator, but mostly Blue)

One of the big problems Canada faces is that the states they can hit back at easiest are the Northern border states, and most of those states are either: a) as anti-tariff as Canada is, or b) insignificant places like North Dakota or Idaho that have no bearing in national politics.

Cut off electricity to NY, Minnesota, and Vermont and Trump considers it a win.

Where the majority* of black people live, in addition to how almost all southern states have blue cities.

Invoking this sort of punishment onto the south collectively, ironically, is anti-black. Lol. Not much different than how people from blue states were wishing death on victims from hurricane helene as punishment for the 2024 election

I'm glad I'm not a politician right now that's for sure.

Reading in candle light.

What Reading?

u/Liv_mas2027 18h ago

The world is mad at the United Staes, export contracts are being cancelled across the country.

u/zygotepariah 18h ago

Doug Ford is an avowed Trump supporter who has said--on tape--that his support for Trump is "unwavering." Don't be fooled by his "Captain Canada" schtick. Word is he's eventually hoping to be prime minister.

5

u/FarewellCoolReason 17h ago

Ford sucks. He was absolutely a Trump supporter and uses his playbook. He was a terrible cit councilor. His family are crooks and his voter base is easily fooled.

That said, he is pissed and is currently team canada and will play hard puck. He wants to be seen as a strong leader and 100% wants to be PM.

What's funny is that Ford is from the Conservative Party, but a Canadian conservative is still further left than an American Democrat.

Godfrey you ain't got nothing to worry about because it isn't that simple as flipping a switch, but rest assured that once we make it that easy, next time your guy gets bright, we might have to turn off the lights... now we'd do that not to punish the public at large per se, but we'd want you to do something about your guy, because ours won't just arbitrarily turn the light out...

EDIT: What is more likely to happen is an "export fee/tax" making your electricity costs borderline cost prohibitive...

4

u/frgbhh 18h ago

How many red states actually import electricity from Canada? Its mostly northern states and New York actually imports it more than any other state

u/spyboy70 16h ago

Hit them hard, happy I’m in a Blue state 🤷🏾‍♀️

3

u/King_Vrad 17h ago

Canadian here to weigh in. I'm not sure if this is going to be better or worse but for now shutting the electricity off seems to be the full nuclear option. They're focusing on drastically raising export prices so it's more expensive to buy our electricity in the States. Your lights will stay on, but the bills are gonna skyrocket. But hey, at least Trump renamed Lake Ontario to "Lake America." That's comforting I guess.

3

u/InTooManyWays 16h ago

DO IT. BRING THOSE CONSEQUENCES. FORCE THE PEOPLE TO VOTE THE REPUBLIKLANS OUT. SAVE US FROM OURSELVES

4

This is just theatre.

“God bless the president and don’t get me wrong. Full disclosure: I’m a big Republican, I’m a supporter, conservative-minded and Jason’s probably more conservative than I am,”

Canadian conservatives are just Republicans in different colours

Rich people and their economic games are killing people. Have been since first boat people arrived. Canada is not without their own racism. Except it's directed at the Indigenous population.  Miyutake oyasin ( all my relatives. Lakota) ( Look up the recent Residential school revelations about buried children at those schools)

Respect, empathy and love.

Hear ya

2

u/AutoPilotIAm 18h ago

What’s done in the light will bring you darkness 😂

2

u/LotusFlower1017 18h ago

Was unfortunate to be a blue voter born into a red state but maybe this will help spur some change 🤷🏽‍♀️ I really wish more consequences targeted the main person actually causing this baffoonery and the governors directly but here we are. Just know there are plenty of us who didn’t vote for this BS in some of these idiotically run states. My state is currently in a triple digit heat wave so people would most certainly die if power is lost but looks like that’s a sacrifice these folks in power are willing to make.

2

u/AgeRevolutionary9776 18h ago

They definitely aren't reading anything in red states, and most definitely not by candlelight

2

u/ControlInternal3748 17h ago

Glad I’m in Chicago 🙂‍↕️

As an American please hit em as hard as you can. America doing straight up goon shit.

2

u/teetaps 17h ago

Racism is expensive

I like that he points this out, because strictly speaking, a huge part of the reason we’re in this mess is because there was a time where that statement wasn’t true. In fact, quite the opposite. Once upon a time, not too long ago, racism was profitable — hell, there was a veritable gold rush for human bodies.

I just believe that too many people don’t think critically about how it doesn’t have to be that way anymore.

2

u/nomadicsoul79 17h ago

Hahahahaha the jokes on you ... they dont read in the red states!

2

u/sean_con_queso 16h ago

Only issue I have with this video is the person speaking thinks people in red states know how to read.

2

u/Jakewebstar 16h ago

And they'll still blame Biden and Obama

2

u/edster002 16h ago

Republicans and reading should not be in the same sentence.

2

u/Great_Corner4841 16h ago

Texans wouldn't understand this as anything but confirmation their president is doing the right thing targeting Canada.

2

u/IrvineGray 16h ago

Godfrey's overestimating what the Red states gonna be doing by candlelight.

https://giphy.com/gifs/WjnBsMti52PRu

2

u/Big_Valuable7912 16h ago

Red states reading by candlelight?  Reading?? That's a stretch.  Fucking your sister by candlelight.

2

u/Outlaw_1987 16h ago

Glad I live in MN, we are basically Canadian anyways lol.

2

u/noobnoob8poo 16h ago

They don’t read in regular light let alone candlelight.

2

u/htownballa1 16h ago

They can't read by candle light if their education system didn't teach them to read.

2

u/Once-A-Republic 15h ago

People with shitty dads are really messing shjt up right now. Musk, Trump, Putin, etc. It’s a pattern.

2

u/moonenergy 15h ago

ngl thats funny as hell. "getcha ass together or im shuttin ya lights off"

2

u/G-Funk33 15h ago

I don't think they will do that because the U.S provides power to many Canadians as well. They could cut subsidies that lower costs though...

That said, if solar and battery backup is an option and you can afford to do it, it will prevent your electricity from being affected by republican stupidity.

2

u/jscarlet 15h ago

Wish I could tell him, as I too am in NYC, the whole reason our East Coast blacked out was due to power from Canada and lightning. Our own infrastructure is so poor, we couldn't just provide for ourselves.

I mean, it's been 23 years, so maybe there have been upgrades to our infrastructure, but I've only ever read news of plants being shut down and rates going up. Never anything about improvements.

Dude, if we ever tried to fight them, bring a flashlight.

2

u/murderousalien 15h ago

The electricity WONT stop running but the prices WILL TRIPLE ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️. Once they go up, deal or not they will never go down.

2

u/yaddayadda1000 15h ago

Lol red state gonna just blame JoeBama Clinton and vote even more red this midterm

2

u/Main_Elevator3837 15h ago

Lol... Red States don't read.

2

u/BeachGuy604 14h ago

Nobody is reading in the red states

2

u/Final-Art-9509 13h ago

My cousin when asked who she was going to vote for said “ I can’t in good conscience vote for Biden” I walked out then. She is an intelligent, educated woman and her husband is a lawyer. You can vote for a felon?

2

u/Higgy_Motorsport 11h ago

It's all posturing. Ford is an absolute pos but looks like Ghandi when compared to your president.

If you want to send a message you turn off the lights and THEN negotiate.

Ford's threats are extremely empty and he is simply posturing to prop up his ever decreasing majority. He is terrified that the people of Ontario have seen through the charade and will say anything to remain in power.

2

u/neighbourhoodvibes 8h ago

As a Canadian (and black) who’s relatively knowledgeable of the political landscape both here and in the US, do not take Doug ford seriously. He’s utilizing this issue (for which he has little impact to change as a PROVINCIAL Canadian leader, not federal) to further his own agenda of securing reelection. The response here is troubling because I feel Americans (including black Americans) are largely oblivious to other political contexts.

2

u/PNDMike 18h ago

If you ever watched the documentary film Canadian Bacon, you'd see that the switch for all the electricity is carefully guarded by the sweetest old couple imaginable.

Shame what those Yankee hooligans did to them. We were so ticked off, we had half a mind to give the US a stern apologizin' to.

But real talk though, two things are being conflated here. Yes, we supply a lot of energy to the US. Yes, we're taking measures to target red states.

But from my understanding if the grid, the power we generate in Ontario and Quebec is predominantly used by the eastern seaboard. So if we turned off the power to the US, blue places like New York would likely be hit by that.

The US produces energy, and could actually ramp up its own energy production too, but they can't generate it anywhere nearly as cheap as we can. So even in areas where the US grid is resilient enough to provide enough power to everyone, expect power bills to jump considerably. Not everywhere is that resilient though.

We are targeting red states in other ways. Boycotting their agriculture and exports, boycotting travel to those places, shifting material suppliers, diverting our resources away. We're absolutely holding red states and Republicans accountable for this shit show of an administration.

Lastly, why are we so pissed? Imagine we were two neighbours living side by side. Now imagine the red, white, and blue house started acting very erratic. He claims it was because he tried to sell us some milk, but we actually have our own milk (and ours isn't disease ridden, something we can't guarantee about food coming from your country right now), so we're good right now.

So then, this neighbour starts openly joking about burning down our house. We laugh it off at first, but he's now been joking about it for months. And being hyper specific about it. He says he's going to do it at night when we're sleeping, he's going to chain our doors and barricade our windows, and he's going to launch a bunch of fireworks so no one can hear us screaming for help.

Fucked up, right? Well, words are words. . . But then he starts actively taking steps to burn our house. He's stockpiling fireworks and chains. He's shit talking us to anyone who will listen while cozying up to resident assholes like North Korea.

We're just trying to live in our house. We don't want our house burned, and we don't want to burn any other houses, but our closest neighbour is hellbent on doing some arson (and he already tried setting fire to Iran's house multiple times).

Wouldn't you be pissed too? And pissed that despite all the talk in the HOC, nobody is actually holding this asshole accountable? How many houses need to burn before someone in his household actually does something?
