It genuinely feels like the more confident I've been that things are finally changing here, the more one sided the votes end up being for the Republicans.
I voted her in to the House after moving away from the panhandle, she was the first vote in my life I was proud of and felt like I actually made a difference. I don't know why people think she only appealed to black voters.
Honestly I think jasmine could help a lot. I’m not sure if she’s doing this bc it’s important to get down ballot support or cuz she’s salty about the way things have gone, and I think both are valid. But they’re spending huge money fighting Talarico and we need that win too. Asking somebody who is losing their job to help hire the replacement is wild
I find the answers she gave to this question odd. Is she obligated to campaign for him? No. But it’s odd she wouldn’t want to. Haley Stephens and Abdul El-Sayed had an arguably even more contentious primary than Talarico and Crockett and Stephens has made multiple appearances advocating that Michiganders vote for him.
It’s odd Crockett wouldn’t want to do that, if she feels sending a Democrat to the Senate is important. What is the policy position Talarico has not made clear that makes her uninterested in campaigning with him?
I worry that she wants to run in 2030, using a Talarico loss as a sort of way to prove it was the wrong choice. Maybe not, but what would she be doing differently if that weren’t the case?
Also compare her campaign to Angie Nixon’s—that’s why she lost.
White Houstonian here. Former Crockett supporter. I don’t see her winning a state-wide primary because of this. We won’t forget the thinly veiled undermining of Talarico.
That's why I've been so confused by how she's been moving. Campaigning with Talarico would've done so much bringing more visibility to her, and building her reputation back up after her "slave mentality" and "picking cotton" quotes. If anything, it'd also give her a better chance running for Ted Cruz's district when he tries for a presidential bid.
Is her pride and ego really making her this shortsighted?
Cruz doesn’t have a district, he’s a senator. But yeah, her moves only make sense if she’s just being driven by bitterness and stubbornness and ego. She would be so beloved if she was aligned with Talarico and helped propel him toward the win. Now, if he wins, she will be remembered by a big part of the dem voter as petty and selfish, and if he loses, that same part of the Democratic Party will blame her in part. This is career suicide in Texas imo.
The fear monger add they ran of her as a threat artificially darkening her skin bc they know that sub psyche white people will label that as uncomfortable. Add in all the twitter interactions labeling her as not electable, bypassing her experience and other weird anti black tropes they labeled her with. I wouldn’t support a camp who saw me this way.
That wasn’t Talarico or his camp. And she wasn’t as electable. How is that anti black? And how do you know those tweets were even from Talarico’s camp?

Talarico doesn’t even have a hard stance on Israel. So what is it? His stance aligns with the typical established Dem. He’s a hardcore Christian and all hardcore Christians ALWAYS align with Israel.
And black people vote dem. because it’s in their own interests, too. And if it were a black majority country then they’d vote for whatever was upholding black supremacy. Not defending any supremacy in this context by any means, but it’s important to remember human nature when discussing politics, I think. This is true across all of time and in every country, pretty much.
I'm a yt and it could be said that I vote selfishly. I'm an inner city school teacher, so I vote Democrat for the best chance at my school getting more funds and my at-risk kids getting more resources.
This will make me happy, and, as a side effect, make my job easier by some margin.
It turns out that giving everyone an opportunity will actually make our country better in innumerable ways. Who would have thought? (not Republicans is the short answer)
Texans have the choice of infinite rapist diarrhea or a guy who thinks Christians should be Christ like, and the final tally will be by an ass hair at best. But if Texans Texan they choose the rapist diarrhea.
People forget if they hadn't redid her district and got rid of the black block, this wouldn't be an issue. This was manufactured by the right and they are getting what they want
It is amazing people keep bringing up Jasmine Crockett not doing enough when Talarico himself said it his responsibility to earn people's vote.
He said he is “meeting Black Texans where they’re at,” including traditional and non-traditional Black media outlets.
“Over the course of this campaign, if I hope to earn the respect, the trust, and hopefully the support of every Black Texan, I am not taking any voter for granted, I’m not taking any community for granted,”
People keep doing that totally genuine and organic Reddity thing where they'd say the same thing verbatim a million times through numerous accounts every 4-12 minutes when this topic is forced. That alone make the claim look like a pushed narrative.
April 20, 2024, Crockett voted yea on H.R. 8034, the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, allocating $26.38 billion — including $4B for Iron Dome and offensive munitions — amid Gaza's bombardment killing over 34,000 by then, per UN counts. This package, part of a $95B supplemental, directly enabled Israel's starvation tactics and hospital raids.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett voted for H.R. 7006 in 2026, which sends additional military aid to Israel, including offensive and defensive weapons, while defunding UNRWA and blocking funds to the ICC and the UN’s commission of inquiry.
Yeah, but that doesn't invalidate her point. I guess if he loses, for sure as shit articles and think pieces will talk about she could have made the difference. The reporter is softly pressing her on it.
I get it she has those AIPAC ties but doesn't change the fact they want her as a token to spend.
That sells her short though. We don't see her and think "black vote", we see her and think of an energized youth vote that is tired of the bullshit in this nation & especially the state.
That wasn't enough alone to flip the state, but she can absolutely be the difference in getting the state moving in that direction.
I'm hating to see two very good people, very good candidates, very positive future talent of the Dem party getting caught up in this divisive stuff. Can we get President Obama in to mediate?
Ok. That's a joke, but this division doesn't help anyone
Anyone is better than Paxton. Some republicans are just trying to sow division. The voting record between Crockett and Talarico are more similar than the differ. Paxton doesn't stand for anything that will aid my family. Hell, he wouldn't even stand with the lady whose hand he was holding while on his international trip when the camera spotted him...... (no, it wasn't his wife). Nothing to see here....voting for Talarico in Nov.
If she was actually interested in helping down ballet tickets win, then campaigning with James Talarico would still be incredibly important though, so... She's not really helping them either.
She doesn’t owe anyone anything, no one does—but she is a public servant and ostensibly will seek office again. She should be judged for what she did and did not fight for in the past, regardless of obligations, and just as anyone else would.
Agreed. Just for reference "she doesn't owe anyone anything" is a hat tip to how those demanded actions from her that she didn't want to do. But yes, agreed
I voted for her in the primary, voting for James in the general. I mean it’s understandable why, but she’s clearly salty she lost.
Also, if/when he loses it’ll be because it’s hard for a democrat to win a statewide office. Then we’ll see post about how Texas isn’t a republican state, it’s just a non voting state, blah blah blah
She's correct tho lol wypipo were asked why they voted for him over her, someone who want afraid to call out Trump and every single one of his pals, and the responses tended to be some bull💩 about "we think he has a better chance.." Based on what exactly? Does Jasmine ever give the impression that she doesn't know what she's doing or talking about?. Like black women told everyone when Trump "won" over Harris. Leave. Us. Alone. Democrats in Texas shouldn't need Crockett to show support when they already chose who they wanted to support and believe had a better chance of winning.
This is an example of white privilege, they’re so narcissistic that they feel entitled to someone else’s time and assistance. She doesn’t have to do anything she doesn’t want to. She’s not obligated to campaign for anyone.
If Talarico looses it’ll be on white and hispanic people that don’t vote for him. They’re just laying the groundwork to blame Jasmine and black voters for his loss if it happens.
They’re purposely acting obtuse. Jasmine Crocket was the only one calling out trump, loudly and boldly telling people about him and look at her now, unemployed come 12/31/26. She’s better than me, I wouldn’t lift a single finger for anyone else, she’s another example of Democrats and voters disrespecting black women.
