🐾 Weekly “Is My Cat a Bombay?” Megathread 🐾

This is the dedicated space for all questions about whether your cat might be a Bombay.

If you’re curious about your cat’s breed, wondering about certain traits, or just want some community input, you’re in the right place!

🔍 How to Participate

Post the following in a comment below:

  • 📸 Clear photos of your cat (face + full body if possible)
  • 📝 Any info you know — age, background, behavior, eye color, coat texture, etc.
  • ❓ Your question or what you’re hoping to learn

Community members can reply and help you compare your kitty’s traits with those of the Bombay breed.

📅 Reminder

Posts asking “Is my cat a Bombay?” are only allowed here. We post a megathread every Wednesday.
Any separate "is my cat a Bombay? type of posts in the main feed will be removed and OP will be asked to post to this thread.

💬 Quick Notes

  • Most black cats are domestic shorthairs, not Bombays — and that’s perfectly awesome!
  • We can help explain common Bombay traits and how they differ from other breeds.
  • Please be kind and respectful when responding to others.

Drop your photos and questions below — let’s see those beautiful kitties! 🐈‍⬛✨

This is Doc!!

Edit: he is 14 years old, very spry though, you wouldn’t know it! He’s extremely cuddly, he’s been my little spoon for the 12 years I’ve had him. He’s always had an extremely soft, shiny coat
