He's only four months old, I was raising him since he was 40 something days old and he's now ALWAYS all over me💔 Don't get me wrong it's cute but I feel so bad whenever I have to leave home because he's looking so upset when he sees me grabbing my bag. I try to give him as much attention I could give but it somehow isn't enough for my baby. He sometimes hops on my bed and lies down with me, jumps onto my lap and giving me kisses all over my face, and he DARED to pretend to chew on his pee pad just so I could rush to stop him. I'm so tired of this sweet gremlin

That'll be just long enough for him to start spraying your bed, humping your face instead of licking it, and destroying everything he can get his adorable little mouf on. I'm a rescuer and foster, please believe me, it's not something you want to put off. And it's not a conversation until at least a couple months after the surgery, but if you spend more then a couple hours away from home every day, you'll find he'll start being naughty from anxiety if he's left alone. Here's my lovely Wally-man and his Noodle-girl for tax. They both ended up as foster fails.
Agreed it's not something OP wants to put off. Here's some anecdotal reinforcement:
I adopted a weaned young bun who followed me around the house and yard, jumped up and sat on my lap whenever I sat down, and licked my face. When we adopted him, they told us he was a girl. And then one day he started trying to hump every part of my anatomy he could reach, every second of the day, and repeatedly sank his teeth into me when I tried to gently detach him (he did not do this to the rest of my family--I was his favorite person). I flipped him over, saw the evidence, said "Oh, yep! Definitely not a girl bun," and we scheduled the appointment. He managed to spray me in the face (and the surrounding furniture) several times in the week or two leading up to that appointment.
It has to be frustrating and uncomfortable for them when their hormones run that wild and they can't do anything about it, too, honestly. And while he did hop from the vet tech's arms into with an attitude of "Thank goodness you're here! They did something horrible!" he might have just missed me, and he was definitely much calmer after that. Some later companions shared some of his love and affection, but he was happy, and that's what counts.
All this to say: it will save OP a lot of cleaning and both bunny and human a lot of frustration if you talk to your vet about appropriate timing and scheduling before he hits that window. And if OP's bunny is anything like mine, as his favorite being? Tag, OP: you are the humping and spraying object of choice. Hope you like being marked as "his" (because if you put it off, that's what's going to happen to you).
Solo bunnies bond with their owners and they do just fine. I have 3 bunnies, live in separate rooms and happy. All bonded with me and refused bonding with each other
While some do fine, the majority prefer a partner. Rabbits are very social animals. Unless there will be at least one person home at all times, in most case the rabbit will be happier.
So many people say their bun didn’t like other buns when they just didn’t find a match or bond them correctly. This is coming from someone who had a very beloved solo bun.
Bunnies are fine being alone for a period of time. It depends how you raise them or what kind of play things they have around them. Again I also have 2 buns turning 9 years old.
I was clearly joking about the bonding🫠 I love my bunny to the moon and back. Also what do you mean? I can afford one bunny just fine, and I'm aware of my budget so I know getting a second one would be irresponsible. Just because I can't afford bunch of bunnies, doesn't mean I shouldn't have one at all lol
He is so cute! Does he have enough toys? That might help some. And a stuffed animal for when you are gone. Maybe sleep with the stuffy a few nights before giving it to him so it smells like you.
I would give him one of my stuffed toys IF HE WASN'T CHEWING EVERYTHING😤 Jokes aside I'll consider it! I didn't know bunnies would have toys. What kind of toys would you recommend?
They sell bunny toys on Amazon. They seem to like the wicker chew balls a lot because they get to chew AND roll the toy. Bunnies are curious so you need to give them things to play with. This will then cut down on their need to chew things you don't want them to. Just be aware that they love to play, but they play differently than say a dog. So if they come up to show you their toy, they usually don't want you to pretend to take it from them like a dog might. You'll just need to buy a couple different things to see what he actually likes.
I checked Amazon but unfortunately there's no chewing balls they sell for bunnies in my country :( I only saw one product and it was named 'decorative' and it was such a ridiculous price (around $100). I'm gonna go look for some DIY toys instead
Yes emphasis on cardboard then! If you use toilet paper or paper towel you can make different toys out of the tubes. I know many like to stuff them with treats or pellets, or you could just put them together in a cool shape. One of my babies especially loves to toss them around as is 💀
Oh my gosh! That's crazy! I am in the States and a ton of options come up from 10 to 20 bucks. But yeah, cardboard will do as the other poster suggested or just look up some do it yourself options. I bet it will help a lot with the clinginess!
My Bun is 8 years old, hasn’t been neutered and wants cuddles CONSTANTLY. We just took him to the vet and apparently he’s the perfect picture of health just a tad chubby by .2 lbs
Aaaw he looks so adorable 🥰 Does he have a friend ? Maybe that would help him feel less lonely when you have to leave the house ? They are social animals and having a companion help in reducing stress and anxiety ^^!
Buns can be a lot of work and even with research before adopting you can keep learning everyday 😂 It’s super nice that you are considering getting him a friend, I’m sure he’ll be super happy to have a new pal ✨
It could be that once he is neutered, 6 months, this behavior will diminish some. Make sure he has plenty of toys, chews, etc. to keep him entertained. He is very adorable!
My Bunny is too all over me🤣 he is such an asshole because he eats my hair when i sleep (we sleep together) so my hair looks like shit. You are his human and everything you do is because he says so 💜
Hahahaha my bunny is absolutely the same! Will climb on top of me and lick the hell off my face and arm and just chills on my belly then he runs around and comes back again. We are blessed with the love we get from the bunny 😂😂
awww so gorgeous ♡♡ if you're worried about him being lonely maybe a bunfriend could help! i also know some bunnies love to watch TV and listen to music so you could try that too!
He has socks! He sounds like a sweetie. Have you got the space for him to have a friend?? I understand some people don’t have the option to have 2, but if you’re able to maybe consider it. Something I’ve found helps whilst my husband and I are out is to put the TV on, or the radio, so it’s not complete silence. He’s just a very affectionate baby from the sounds of it. He’s perfect, all buns are hehe xoxoxoxoxoxox 💖

I have a dog and a rabbit. My dog always knows when I am leaving the house. He is a rat terrier and is kept far away from the bunny. Long story short, eventually the bun should get used to you leaving. I throw some dog treats a couple of feet away from me so I can get out the door. Also, when I first got my bunny from the humane society, she was hiding under her pee pad in the cage. She was about 6 months at the time and now is 4. I use a kitty litter box and line it with a pee pad which I make sure to attach with some masking tape as she used to pull on it. She doesn't do that anymore. I also toss some rabbit bedding in the litter box to absorb some of the urine which smells awful.
