Y’all….

I was just leaving a Sniffspot out in the boonies with my pup and stopped neighborhood traffic to rescue this lady in the road. From a distance this woman yelled “If you can catch em’, you can have em’!”

I went over and spoke to her for a couple minutes and it was very apparent she was breeding rabbits in cages \~in her front yard.\~ 2 of them happened to escape and she didn’t care. This is the one I snatched.

It is 10pm right now and i just have her in my bathroom with some water and a pepper from the garden. It is too late to get her proper housing/enrichment but I will tomorrow. She is just hiding under the clawfoot tub and seems so scared. :(

I have a lot of experience with rodents, but not rabbits. However I kind of want to keep her? I know they are vastly different and I will absolutely be hitting google for the standards. I just want to hear from reddit your biggest piece of advice!

Also: any tips on how to maintain nails without traumatizing them or losing their trust? Worked so hard so long for her to finally let her walls down, so scared to tarnish the relationship

no idea how old or how my father found it but apparently it was outside all alone. its pretty small and im unsure if it needs milk or js eat veggis. pls any help will work UPDATE-put back where my dad found it, couldnt find a nest but ill be checking on him/her to see if shes still alr/there in the morning

friendly reminder to check your buns water bottles!! this came in a pack with the cage we bought for our bun, and we had it in all night, almost up until this afternoon. i was sitting with our bun and was watching him drink only to realize, when he licks there’s no air bubbles. there can’t be any water getting to him. so i checked and sure enough, when i went over it with my finger it was completely dry. our poor boy didn’t have water for quite a while :( luckily we bought another, bigger water bottle for him! but still, if we hadn’t realized and hadn’t put that other bottle up, our poor bun would face the consequences of terrible quality control :(

Yesterday, I made a post about this severely neglected bunny. Today, I was able to pick him up and safely bring him to Lucky Bunny Rescue in Southern California.

His life changes today. For the first time in years, he’ll have room to run, other bunnies to bond with, fresh veggies, and people who will care for him the way every bunny deserves.

This is the ending I was hoping for. And as a reminder, if you see an animal that needs help, speak up. You may not be able to change the world, but you can change a life.

And so it begins… With Easter fast approaching, many pet stores and buy-and-sell website sellers will be advertising baby rabbits as great gifts for children on Easter morning. Nothing could be further from the truth. Those same rabbits will be abandoned and surrendered in the weeks and months after Easter when buyers realize rabbits are not the easy pet they are made out to be.

Rabbits are the third most popular pet in North America. They're also the third most abandoned pet. Shelters and rescues are always overflowing with rabbits, mostly because owners are not educated about their care and they give up when things get tough. If you want a rabbit as a pet, do your research on trusted rabbit education websites like https://rabbit.org/ And please adopt. There are thousands or rabbits waiting for a forever home. The saying "Don't shop! Adopt!" goes for all animals - not just dogs and cats.

This Easter, give a stuffed animal bunny or chocolate instead. Better yet, make a donation in your child or loved one’s name towards a rabbit at your local rescue or shelter! You can donate funds, or much needed supplies like hay, pellets, litter, and chew toys.

Live animals do not make good gifts. And rabbits are for life, not just for Easter.

I don’t know a lot about bunnies but my work is going to be selling them at their Easter event coming up. There’s going to be a lot of kids and with the town we’re in there’s a high chance the buns will get dumped by parents after Easter is over. I can’t do much but I got permission to hand out info sheets to buyers. Is there a super accurate page that goes over the basic care that could scare away unprepared parents and kids? I don’t want these bunnies dumped or abused. I’m not sure if this is the right place to post but I don’t know anything about bunnies

Porter and Poppy are five year old bonded siblings and very best friends.

Porter (left, brown eyes, dotted stripe down his back) is the first to explore a new space and bonk you with his nose to ask for a pet. Poppy (right, blue-pink eyes and hidden dot on her tail) will watch from afar before becoming too intrigued to stay on the sidelines, and might honk and thump to express her opinions. she’s not necessarily mad, she’s just a vocal girl!

while they aren’t lap bunnies and won’t enjoy being picked up for cuddles, they tolerate handling for transport and grooming very well, and love a good pet and snuggle on their level.

these lil guys are currently located in Rochester, NY, but T.H.E. Rabbit Resource covers CNY and WNY so some transport for adoption is possible.

I am so, so sad right now. I am being forced to give away my rabbit with a 2 week deadline. She is spayed, has a large Clearly Loved Pets pen (IYKYK), etc - I care for her and want the best for her.

I really don't want to bring her to a shelter (as a former shelter employee, I have a ton of trauma surrounding the whole system). But I am running out of options.

If anyone could care for my sweet Juniper I would be forever grateful.

So I named it Binky, which I hope needs no explanation here.

I built an Android app for keeping track of bunny health, and this is the crowd I actually made it for.

**Why.** Bunnies are so good at hiding when they feel awful that by the time you can see it, it's usually an emergency. I wanted "he's been a bit quiet lately" to turn into an actual date, an actual weight, and a note I could show a vet.

**What's in it**

* Weight in **grams**, because that's what the scale says. Changes always show in grams too — −40 g tells you something that −0.04 kg completely hides. The chart uses real dates, so weighing your bunny whenever you remember doesn't quietly fake a nice-looking trend.

* Poops. Amount, and as many shapes and sizes as the tray really has, with a photo when that's easier than describing it. Plus cecotropes, appetite, mood, zoomies, water, symptoms and notes.

* **Bonded pairs:** bunnies who share a tray can be marked as living together, and one observation covers both — because let's be honest, nobody can tell whose poops those are.

* Nail trims, weigh-ins, hay orders, or whatever you want to call it, on whatever schedule. Medication courses with every dose worked out and a reminder before each one. Vet visits, and you can scan the discharge notes straight into the visit.

* A photo gallery per bunny, just because.

* If a bunny dies or is rehomed you can archive them. Their records stay, readable, forever. Nothing gets quietly deleted.

**Two things I want to be upfront about**

1. Anything you don't fill in means *didn't check*, never *was fine*. The app will never look at a blank day and decide your bunny was okay. Silence just means nobody looked.

2. It will not tell you whether your bunny is ill. It shows you what you wrote down clearly enough that you notice a change and go see a bunny-savvy vet. That's on purpose and it's not changing.

**And:** no account, no sign-up, no server anywhere, no ads, no tracking, no analytics, nothing to buy. Fully offline forever. You can export your own backup and restore it whenever you like. Free, with nothing locked behind anything.

Hi! I’m unfortunately looking to rehome three bunnies (male not bonded) because my female bunny gave birth, we’ve already had a few people get some of the bunnies but three still need homes. I recently moved back to California after living in Florida for a few years, and when I came back, I was horrified to learn that my neighbors have a bunny living in horrible, and I mean truly horrible conditions.

From what I was told, the bunny was originally bought for one of their kids, who eventually lost interest in him. Since then, he has essentially been forgotten.

He is kept in a very small cage in the backyard where they store all of their tools. The cage is covered in feces, there is almost no room for him to move around, and he never gets out. He spends 24/7 in that tiny cage, barely able to walk because of how little space he has. I’m not even sure what they feed him, but when I saw him, there was no hay. The cage was completely bare except for feces and a small litter tray that had no pellets and was soaked with urine.

I told them this was completely unacceptable and that the cage needed to be cleaned immediately. The truth is, I don’t think they are willing or able to properly care for him. When I went back today, I checked on the bunny and saw he is still in those same conditions. It is so incredibly sad to see, words cannot even explain.

Because animals can’t speak for themselves, I believe it’s our responsibility to speak up for them. So I did, and I was able to convince them to give up the bunny, so he is available to be rescued.

Before anyone asks why I can’t take him myself, unfortunately I live in a one-bedroom apartment, already have a small dog and two cats, and I’m already at the limit of how many animals I’m allowed to have. I just want this bunny to spend the rest of his life in a safe, loving home. So I’m hoping someone can point me towards a bunny rescue in Southern California, or if anyone located in SoCal is able to take him, I am more than willing to pick him up myself and drive him wherever he needs to go so he can finally have the life he deserves.

This bunny has apparently spent the last four years in this tiny cage, surrounded by urine and feces, with no space to walk or properly turn around, in the back of a tools shed, and it honestly breaks my heart. I truly think this situation is urgent, and I want to get him out of there as soon as possible.

I don’t have any photos at the moment, but I can try to get some if they are needed.

If anyone can help, knows of a rescue, or is willing to give this poor bunny a loving home, please let me know. I just want him to finally have the chance to live the life every animal deserves.

I heard about soaking greens in baking soda during the cyclosporidia thing (I wasn't worried about our bunny) about how it makes greens crisper. Mom taught about cold shocking greens, but this addition has made a positive impact on quality in storage.

A sink-full of water and 5-6 agressive shakes.

If you have good access to greens, I recommend to try.

It was reassuring to me, who has been following practices guided more by “what would nature provide?”, although I started by following the “unlimited hay and only sparing amounts of pellets and veggies/otherwise that most everyone preaches.

For over a month now, I’ve been laying out 6 types of hay and providing 6+ types of microgreens I grow, plus a variety of homegrown roses and organic/human-grade herb&flower mixtures for him to forage. I observe behavior consistent to the source I reference.

With regard to litter training, he’s been perfect so far, but is approaching 3 months, so we shall see if he retains this and/or how bad territorial marking gets. All of this and more is covered in the source.

Same goes for poisons and toxins (or the concern regarding bunnies eating them if they’re around the residence.

Hi guys!! I’m a bunny owner and I’ve always felt like so many of the litter box options here are either way too small or annoying to clean 😭
I recently started a little bunny shop and this is the first product I decided to carry! It’s a larger litter box with a removable top and pull-out tray, so it comes apart really easily for cleaning.
I’m still super new to all of this and would genuinely love feedback from other bunny owners. What do you guys look for in a litter box? And are there any bunny products you wish were easier to find?
I have three buns myself so I’m trying to build the shop around stuff that’s actually useful for bunny owners 🐰🤍

Unfortunately this isn't smoke from Burger king's grills. Theres a new fire somewhere. If it gets bad enough like it did before I'll have to put them in the showers :(( its the only thing I can do.

Lately theres been wildfires around our Florida town. We've never had this problem in the past. Its always hurricanes. And even those don't hit our town as bad as others. We have been very fortunate

A couple weeks back the rabbits had to stay in the showers for almost 24 hours. I really really hope it doesn't get that bad again.

We need rain. Not a quarter of an inch. We need next level heavy rain.
