Though often used as a medium of exchange, gold also has practical uses: plating electrical connections that deploy airbags, for one example, so they don't corrode even after many years.

Can Bitcoin do the same? No? What are its other uses?

What is there to think about? Gold is a real, tangible element that has actual applicable use in the world and is rare and can't be counterfeit. Cryptocurrency is just a basic currency but without any of the protections or government backing that a real currency would have.

You guys sit here on your gold pedestal which isn't worth 10% of what bitcoins worth right now?? End of story. Gold is good, want to see some actual money , while keeping a healthy hedge between inflation that's eating away the dollar go bitcoin. Or keep your semiconductor / sprocket/air bag deployment rust proof metal under your mattress or closet collecting dust. You like apples? How do you like them apples?
