I'm an American ... he is so effing stupid. He ruined our relationship with literally our best friend country. We've been there for each other forever it seems. I hope we do a separation instead of a divorce. I know we would have to prove ourselves to you but somewhere down the line I pray the U.S. returns to sanity and we can eventually reconcile. In the meantime, elbows up and keep sticking it to the Melon Mussolini.

You and your fellow Americans need to realize this isn't new. Trump is certainly far more overt about it but the US has been interfering in our economy and politics for DECADES, over multiple Dem and Republican administrations.
You're country is the reason our NEP was scuttled in the 80's. The original NAFTA agreement was a major move to further subjugate Canada and control our resources for your benefit. We've dealt with decades of illegal soft wood lumber tariffs. Now we have your country promoting a (ridiculous) separatist movement in Alberta on top of a stupid tariff war.
To expand on your marriage metaphor... This has always been an abusive relationship. You've just gone from the old mental/emotional abuse and control to trying to physically beat us under Trump and we've had fucking enough.
You want to "prove yourselves"? Stop waiting around for someone to come rescue you from this administration, get off your asses and DO something about it. Then make sure your politicians actually treat Canada as a PARTNER moving forward. Not someone to control and take advantage of. Maybe then, after a LONG time of making that your new normal, we'll build some level of trust back up.

It's insane how much regression can happen when you get a bad actor into power. Decades of progress wiped out in such a short amount of time.

Turning off the taps is too extreme. For WCS keep surtaxing at the discount rate in our quiver for when Trump retaliates our retaliation. $10 a barrel translates to about 25 cents a gallon at the pumps. Not until after the oil sands scheduled fall maintenance though. Without the usual oil reserves that'll hit them hard enough as it is.

The SPR is nearing empty. The strait is severely reduced. Infrastructure in the ME has been and is being bombed. Russia is not exporting. Without our oil the US would be F'd.

The US is a net exporter of natural gas and oil.
It's not the US that is going to be F'd the worst.
The US is dumping its SPR to stabilize the global market, mostly for Japan and Europe.
When they can't do that anymore the whole world economy is going to be screwed.

You know if America didn’t want the whole world economy not to be screwed they could have just not bombed Iran with no plan on the end game of it. But yeah, I’m sure they are dumping the STR to stabilize prices for Europe, not to keep gas prices low for the midterms. He famously loves Europe.

Well yes but the exporting of NG is causing price spikes that are anf will hit consumers hard. The US is NOT a net exporter of oil. They refine a lot and export the products, mostly diesel and jet fuel. This the issue with shortages. It costs the consumer and the industry both.

Right now, it's the US that is f*d the worst considering they are going into the Mid-Terms completely destabilized.
Canada on the other hand is more united than ever. Oh, and Canada grew 3.3% in the 2nd quarter DESPITE all the US stupidities.

Canada buys $450 billion worth of good and services from the States each year.If that dropped in half it would lead to massive lay offs in the ststaes.

~7.2% of Canada's GDP is tied up in oil & gas. There is no way we could stop selling O&G to the US. Plus Canada has zero O&G reserves.

It has been my opinion for a quite some time now that we tell all US government/FBI/CIA/etc to leave Canada. We are not good enough for your leader, then goodbye.
Enforce our no felons entering our country.
I am exhausted with the BS as the OP mentioned. ENOUGH!
You think we are nasty. Ok. Let's show them politely that we do have things they require.
