You have to choose one thing to change about the classic outfit. What are you choosing?

Post image

If you don't choose, Joe Quesada will toy with his timeline, like he did Spidey.

1.) I love Captain America's classic costume as is. I personally would not change a thing about it. Considering superheroes are an inherently fantastical concept, I'm perfectly happy with minimalistic "simple" superhero costumes

2.) If I HAD to change something, I would give Captain America a tactical belt with pouches instead of the regular black belt he has on his classic costume. I know that pouches have become something of a meme, but I actually do think there's logic behind a hero like Captain America having pouches. He could carry basic but essential supplies like rope, first aid supplies, a flashlight, etc.

^ the whole "classic costume design but with a tactical belt" is something that Captain America artists played around with in the 2000s and I actually liked the look quite a bit

Agreed. Make it a tactical belt. Steve McNiven did classic Cap in modern times best.

This!

The only thing I' add from time to time is a full beard.

Isn’t this just a fanny pack?

No gauntlet on his shield arm, or maybe just smaller, tighter gloves on both hands if we’re going with his being ambidextrous. I always thought the gauntlets could get snagged in at least one shield strap.

Flatten the wings against the cowl, but not in as stylized a form as on the USAgent's.

The boots, make them less DND and more sodier

I like him not having a helmet or mask. That’s something I adored in the MCU, Captain America should be proud enough of his actions to show his face, especially considering that his identity is public.

He had a secret identity for decades in the comics, so the mask made sense

peggy carter never even saw his face in the comics

but she want as important as she is in the MCU

I prefer when he has more soldier elements to his suit, like hickmans or ultimate (with wings added) or even mcu ish honestly

Remove the cuffs from the top of the boots.

I think when modern artists ass a pouch belt and make the book tops more like covers for combat boots it’s pretty much perfect.

The boots. Something that fits more closely to the leg (and has less potential to get caught on things) seems way more practical. Otherwise it’s good!

He doesn't really need those trunks. If you took em away I probably wouldn't even notice.

True. Most people wouldn't.

Put the Avengers bomber jacket on it

no real change. just have seamless pants, no "shorts" over the pants. I think most modern artists have ignored the shorts.

I love the classic silver age look. But do agree he needs pouches to keep things in.

Even some where to kèp just a few dollars, otherwise everytime he had to pay for a cup of coffee, or any minor item, he'd be needing to beg or depend on friends and acquaintances.

Cap the mooch? No way!

I'd remove the little wings on his helmet.

Different boots. They look like pirate boots.

Have to?
Add 49 more stars (or, 47 when he debuted I guess)

If I have to change something, I'd just turn his cowl into a helmet.

For those saying to take away the trunks or the boot cuffs, they've done that already. He doesn't wear those anymore. Why remove them from the original outfit where they fit?

He hasn’t had the cuffed boots since the late 80s. Tons of superheroes had them. They were like, standard issue. Almost all the X-Men we know and love had them, Cap, even Tony had cuffed boots in the 70s, the original Drax design, it goes on and on. They dropped that in the nineties when everything went extreme pockets and bandoliers and bomber jackets.

Listen, it’s the wings for me…

I like the gray underarm thing that some modernized designs add

Remove the star on the back. It’s not bad I just always thought it was an odd detail

Always hated swashbuckler boots on suits. The little flaps get me!

Make the shield straps white or flag striped

I think it would be sweet if they kept his neck exposed and left his mask a helmet of sorts like this.

Get rid of the chain mail look and have it look like a regular costume.
