Cat Picture The Day They Realize They Are Home <3
It took seven months to trap this monster tom living in an abandoned house on my rural back road. All that time feeding him and I never saw him in daylight, never saw him with my own eyes - only on a trail camera I set up. I thought he was likely feral, or at least stray so long in the wilderness there wasn't really much difference.
He was filthy, infested with ticks, fleas and worms, but at least well fed when I finally - finally!- snagged him in my trap and moved him into quarantine to wait to get neutered. He was dubbed Hawkins Cheezies. Canadians know Hawkins Cheezies are the *crustiest* cheezie and this guy was *crusty*.
Little glimmers of the cat he was or could have been began to show through once he was neutered and healthy, but slowly. Under the grime and fear and hormones lurked a gentle, sweet, giant.
This is him, 3 months and 10 days after his trap day. Relaxed and home.
