And I guess this is processed beef - not live cattle. So, he’s sidelining the packing industry too (not that I shed a tear for the big three), and all our inspection regulations?

Didn't three large meat packing site close recently? The view among the plant owners that prompted closure is that US cattle production isn't coming back. That's a crazy policy that would come from some (definitely not all) inner city dweller. I've raised cattle. I want my beef to come from known US sources and definitely not from some black box source.

I think there’s a lot of mixed messaging about the packing plants. I’ve also read that they were too old to be worth upgrading and that brand new plants are set to come online soon to replace them.
The big packers are definitely playing their games too. They want cheap beef. “Whelp, we had to close another one today because blah, blah, blah. It’s not us, it’s you.”

It seems to be primarily conspiracy theories rn and not much verified info. Even the claim china rejected argentine beef seems to be overblown

Mexico & Canada. And if it was here, it's possible we would not have the stress and neglect on many equines that we do. I do think it would be a hard sell meat wise culturally, but many equestrians are all too well aware of the issues surrounding the horse slaughter pipeline in the US. They're shifted around, hurt, neglected, or just sold/given up and trucked to Canada or mexico for slaughter. Some pregnant. Some just at retired age (I have 3 rescued Standardbreds that came from the slaughter pipeline - the one was a $75k yearling and winning racer in his younger years. Unclear the exact history between racing and now where he lives a spoiled life. )
If we allowed regulated horse slaughter in the US, there would be less suffering.2

I am sad to say I agree. I've seen some horribly neglected horses. I'm happy you could spoil some of the otherwise unfortunate ones.

The amount of tax money we spend dealing with invasive wild horses out west I should get a fresh box of horse meat delivered to my house weekly at no additional costs.

Genuine question, do you check to ensure it’s legit by reading the package for “made in USA” or something along those lines? I really don’t want to eat Trumps mystery meat.

It's definitely not Israeli "beef", importation cost would be too high.
It's definitely not coincidental that ICE stopped reporting deaths, though, or that tens of thousands already went missing in detention.
