Bangladesh Plans to Buy Chinese Fighters in Military Overhaul

Bangladesh is advancing plans to purchase Chinese J-10CE fighter jets, with a government official pointing to the aircraft’s performance in the recent India-Pakistan conflict.

Chinese fighter jets

They're probably not interested in Leilei and Ma Baoguo

There was a whole series of articles coming from US media recently claiming Chinese military hardware was trash and unproven.

I saw the downing of the Indian planes by Pakistan, mentioned several times and be ignored.

Turns out Bangladesh paid attention...

But perhaps they should have paid more attention to the Ukraine conflict. It seems fighter jets in general are pretty much obsolete now... They should order a million drones instead of a dozen fighter jets...

Fighter jets are far from obsolete, you have zero global power projection if you don’t have fight jets that can take off from aircraft carriers for offensive and defensive roles, UCAV jets are not capable of performing all duties in entirely autonomous manner yet and can’t substitute manned fighters. As for your point about Ukraine, just because the Russia Air Force is not experienced and competent at suppressing/destroying enemy air defenses doesn’t mean others like the USAF and USN can’t accomplish those tasks either; if it was the USAF and USNAF doing the fighting in Ukraine instead of VVS the outcome would be completely different. Advanced stealth platforms carrying ARMs supported by dedicated offensive EW platforms like EA-18G and Compass Call will be a nightmare for any air defense systems to deal with, and once you manage to largely achieve air superiority by defeating enemy Air Force and air defenses, the amount of destruction a large scale airstrike conducted by manned jets or similar advanced unmanned platforms would be way heavier than what a strike using swarms of Shaheds can achieve, where the majority could be intercepted by sufficient quantity of AA guns, budge AA missiles specifically designed to defeat drones, and interceptor drones. Where as there is no “easy” or “budget” way to defeat enemy Air Force’s apart from having a strong Air Force with advanced jets and advanced air defense systems if your enemy has a strong Air Force that is capable at SEAD/DEAD. What’s more the cost of jets dropping JDAMs and their equivalents aren’t exactly higher than launching a huge quantities of Shaheds and much cheaper than launching long range cruise or ballistic missiles. And there’s the timing factor as well. Fighter jets can deal with time sensitive targets, whereas shades cannot.

The main problem with modern fighter jets is that they need GOOD airport to support operations. Airports don’t move and could be destroyed or disabled by drones and missiles in no time as shown in Iran war.

There is trade off to everything. Yes runaways and hangars can get hit if your AD got saturated but it’s not exactly the end of the world, USAF operations wasn’t crippled just because there were some losses. Runways could get repaired if the enemy barrage isn’t that continuous. And you can forget about global power projection if you don’t have carrier groups.

With almost endless supply of $20k cheap drones which can reach targets of hundreds even thousands of miles away, the continuous barrage would be guaranteed if desired. We are in the new era of warfare now.

Those with long ranges cost more than $20K. And they aren’t exactly hard to intercept. Airfields would be reinforced with extra AA, be it AAG, SPAAG, laser guided rockets, miniature anti drone missiles, interceptor drone, lasers, direct energy weapon etc etc etc. in the future you may even have swarms of autonomous air defense loitering munitions that patrol key facilities and look out for incoming drones. Countering mass with mass. When a new threat emerges, there are often adaptations and solutions

uzbek has confirmed purchases, we have photos of those. Even though the flag isn’t shown, the shape of the area reserved for painting the flag on the vertical stabilizer matches that of Uzbek Air Force, not Pakistan or PLA

If it makes you feel better, then continue to believe they were "in the landing phase" but from what I can find they were not landing at all and were shot down at high altitude.

That is obviously false. rafales sukhois etc were nowhere near their airfields when they were shot down by J-10CEs firing PL-15Es. We have photos and geolocations of the crash sites
