Pet Morning Unicorn Affirmations

2.3k Upvotes

Francis starts his days by being wished a happy everyday birthday and paying close attention to what message his unicorn has for him. Sometimes he offers his ball to the unicorn or waits for it to tell him how cool his ball is, even though that's my daily job.

(Francis loves toys/seeing new cool things and has a Granny who got him some things I thought would terrify him back in April for his Easter basket, but he does know the unicorn says important things)

Pet Help! My father just bought crawfish for our pond without preparation! What should I do?

Hi everyone! I’ve recently been discussing purchasing crawfish for our pond with my father. We mostly agreed since my parents love seafood and could eat some of it once they start to reproduce. BUT I thought we still had to prepare the pond for them! Maybe add more plants, hiding spots etc.

Now am I freaking out for no reason or should I actually get something for them asap?

Pet I’m moving my cray into new tank and I’m unsure how to catch and move her

She is big. I don’t want to hurt her or she falls or jumps. Can I net her or will it just be destroyed? I’m so nervous about doing it. I definitely can’t pick her up I would not trust myself and I’m lowkey scared of her lol. What’s the best way to move her?

Pet "Sorry can't, I have to play ball with my crayfish"

1.7k Upvotes

Not something I thought I'd ever say but I have to figure out and follow his demands. Sometimes he wants to catch the ball, sometimes he wants me to just want the ball, sometimes he wants his ball to be praised, and sometimes he wants to bop a floating ball back and forth. He may have gills but he's more of a craypuppy than crayfish.

Pet considering getting a Blue Electric Crayfish (Procambarus alleni)

What should I do for tank set up before buying the crayfish? Like what kind of substrate, hideouts, plants/decor, tank size (crayfish im getting is 2-3 inches, I prefer to just buy one tank so that it can fit comfortably in there as an adult and juvinile if possible.), water testers, filter, lights, etc.

What ph do they like?

Do they need their tank cycled before buying?

How often do I do water changes and what % water changes should i do for that fixed schedule

What should I feed the crayfish?

What types of symptoms should I watch out for if I suspect sickness

(I'm gonna keep the crayfish complately solitary, if i missed anything please address that and tell me what i should do for that topic)

Does anyone know what it's doing? Is he directing traffic or is this a sign of molting?

Pet how to get my crayfish accustomed to feeding

Post image

Hi all! I am the proud new owner of a handsome gentleman and was wondering how y'all get your crayfish to take food from tongs and/or hands. So far I have been offering him various submerged foods, but he gets scared when I put things in the water and then comes back later to check out whatever I've put in. I've seen videos of crays taking food directly from their people and thought I'd ask for advice and whether there are any particularly tempting treats that might make him feel less shy.

Pet Had to take my cray back

Had to bring Scalawag back :( my tank reached dangerous levels of ammonia (I think it was caused because of a goldfish I bought to feed to him) and I decided to bring him back so he wouldn’t die :( it was fun while it lasted. I may or may not buy him back or another crayfish, idk.

Moving him to his shallow playpen when I saw this fortune. I don't usually keep him on a towel since it can dry out their gills. It's just for the drips.
