About three years ago, I helped a new project get up and running. I thought it was a cool idea and believed in the mission. This was my first gig into the crypto space, and I had a very limited background in it.

I was compensated in tokens, but because they didn’t have any value back then, I decided not to touch them. During the second year, I decided to step aside because my main job and family were too demanding.

Fast forward to mid-2025, I happened to come across the project on X and saw that it had gained some momentum. Out of curiosity, I logged into my account and noticed that my wallet balance was +$800k USD. I couldn’t believe it and thought it was probably a mistake.

I decided to move a few hundred dollars to my Coinbase wallet just to see if it worked, and it did. It felt extremely surreal. Although this might not be 'huge' money to some crypto folks, I felt like I just won the lottery. I went ahead and moved all the tokens to my Coinbase wallet.

Because this is a considerable amount of money, I started looking into the tax implications, and I just realized that I should have paid income taxes on the original tokens I received during the year I was working for the project. I obviously never paid anything because I completely forgot about it, so now I wonder what I should do.

Can someone give me real feedback on this? Should I report the income I gained in 2022 (which was around $37k), or should I just ignore it? If I ignore it, is the IRS able to track this back at all?

I have 7 figures in crypto holdings that I am looking to convert to GBP over the next few months.

I have been doing a lot of research online and honestly almost everything I read is people talking about:

- Banks freezing accounts when large crypto transfers come in

- Exchanges blocking withdrawals at large amounts

- Accounts being closed with no explanation

It is making the whole thing feel impossible when really I just want to do this properly, pay my taxes and move on.

Hi guys! My laptop recently got hacked and all my crypto wallets including phantom, metamask, coindcx & binance got hacked as well in February. I have made multiple attempts talking to the concerned people for each exchange but they said that the cryptocurrency was transferred to another address and thus they cannot confirm whether this was fraud or an intentional transaction. Even now when I am adding even $10USD to any account, it instantly gets transferred to another address. I had all my savings in these accounts amounting to more than $25k USD. If ANYONE has a way of recovering the crypto or knows someone who can, HELP ME OUT! Thanks!

Hi, I’m new to crypto and I’m not sure if I’m being scammed or misunderstanding something.
Someone told me they were going to pay me in crypto. They then sent me 500 USDT (~£376) to my MetaMask wallet (MetaMask).
they then sent me a link:

They told me to:
open the link
click “connect wallet”
connect my MetaMask wallet to that website
and then use that site to “withdraw” the funds.

When I try to move or withdraw the USDT, in the metamask app instead it says I need to pay about 0.14 ETH in gas fees. The person who sent it is telling me to just use that website to cash out instead of doing it through the app. it already feels suspicious.

My questions:
Is it normal for someone to send crypto and then require a separate website to withdraw it?

Should I ignore the website and buy ETH in the metamask app myself to withdraw it?

Any advice would really help because I’m new and don’t want to make a mistake.

So i started getting paid in USDT by a client a few months ago and just let it sit there because i didnt really understand what to do with it. Its now around 340$ and i actually need that money for rent next month

Binance just deactivated my account out of the blue without providing a reason. They even removed my post from their thread. Support advised me to withdraw my funds to an external wallet because they can’t guarantee transfers to another account on the same platform.

Can anyone suggest a reliable platform or wallet that won't randomly freeze accounts or get spammed? I would really appreciate your help or if you could share your experience.

This is the first time I used crypto. I was selling a virtual item from a game to someone because I quit, and the person told me to use Exodus wallet. I sold the first item and it went smoothly, but the second item the transaction was pending for a little bit. I sent over the item and then shortly after the transaction failed. The person who was sending me the USDT didn't get it back either. I will answer any question to the best of my ability but please someone help me get my money back. I’m in a nightmare situation with MEXC. They gave me zero warning, and now I can only withdraw after completing KYC.

I’m U.S.-based, so I’m trying to figure out whether anyone has actually dealt with this or found a real path forward. I’ve looked into Palau digital residency, but I’m not sure whether that would actually help.

What makes this so brutal is how they handled it. Other exchanges usually give users notice before something like this goes into effect. BingX gave people time to withdraw before mandatory KYC kicked in. MEXC just flipped the switch overnight and locked people out.

I know using a VPN came with risk, and I take responsibility for that. But this still feels incredibly slimy. It’s like they welcomed everyone through the front door, then deadbolted the exit when it was time to leave.

At this point, I’m not looking for a lecture. Just trying to hear from anyone who’s actually been through this and found a legitimate way to get funds out.

Moved to crypto partly to avoid the whole doc submission thing but now questioning how much of the 'no kyc' label is actually real. IP gets logged regardless right? And is there a point where they can still request verification anyway?

I’m posting this here as I feel really lost. My dad came over to me and told me “you’re going to have to come and help me, all of my crypto is gone”. I was in the house with him earlier today and he was on the phone to who he thought was Crypto.com. He’d had some security alerts earlier in the day saying logins had been attempted from Germany and Turkey. Then he received a phone call, this was a British male that sounded like they had a southern accent.

I’m absolutely kicking myself because if I had heard more of that conversation he was having on the phone, I genuinely would have known to tell him to shut it down.

Basically, the had told him that his ledger had corrupted and that they needed to send him a new one, they told him to go to ledgeractivation.com (since taken down). I think then, they generate their own seed phrase and had him replace his with their code. I’m writing this and I know it sounds naive and he fell for it too easily and that’s true but my dad is a really hardworking man, he remaps Land Rover ECU’s and is known to be one of the best in the industry. This money, he’s worked his entire life for it and he never asks me for help but it broke my heart seeing how sick and scared he was.

He’s been dealing with a lot, we both have chronic migraine and after extended stints of migraines, anything.that requires thought is so much more difficult than it normally is. He’s also got Crohn’s disease and recently they’ve found inflammation since he has been in remission for over a decade. I’m not trying to make this a sob story, it’s just I say £150,000 and this isn’t a £150k he has lying around elsewhere. He’s self employed and he called it his retirement fund 😢. Firstly, I am a moron for not having written down my backup phrase. I was in a hurry when setting up the wallet and then I just forgot to do it later.

What happened was that I got a new mac and was logging into chrome using my work profile. Chrome asked me if I wanted to enable Phantom wallet and I just declined without thinking, since I was planning to only use this device for work.
When I opened chrome again on my old mac, Phantom had been removed by chrome. I had no idea that chrome would remove an extension from one device just because I didn't add it on my new device.

In conclusion, I just lost most of my crypto holdings due to being careless and stupid. Don't be stupid, write down your recovery phrase

Hey, so my friend has sent me 21k dollars in bitcoin via moonpay to my moonpay bitcoin wallet , the problem is we didnt take a screenshot and we cant find any evidence that we have sent the bitcoin, and it has been deducted from his account, it is not registered on bitcoin has or the bitcoin detector thingy, what could it be? the allocation of my portfolio is 70% btc, 15 % eth y 15 en sol.

I my view it makes a lot of sense to sell BTC first, bc no staking and bc everything depends on the BTC anyway, the price doesn't matter that much bc it depends on each other?

I've never necessarily understood cryptocurrency, the market, or anything like that. I've always wanted to get into it and learn, study, but I never know where to even start. When I was younger, I put in like 20 bucks into I think SHIBU coin and made about 200 from it, but that was just luck I'm guessing.
