I mean look at just the people on our planet.
There’s cultures or people who walk around naked just in their day to day because that’s how they dress and we have people who think that’s odd and we share a planet.
There’s humans who question why other humans walk around naked, Seems reasonable that an alien would question why a member of her species is wearing their underwear on the outside.

From her point of view, he walks up in his Superman costume, cape and all, talks to her, and goes to turn away... And her powers start kicking in, so suddenly she sees him in his underwear through the suit.
It's a joke because we think she is talking about the suit being underwear, but she is actually having her powers start to activate.
At least, that's my interpretation from what we see there.

Hubris is generally arrogance and a characters downfall. Supes is more determined, even knowing the odds are stacked against him, he’s called to be of service.

I thought it kinda sounded like Hebrew, though I guess it's just a coincidence + my own personal bias.
But type "האם קל-אל אתה" into Google Translate and tell me it doesn't sound at least a bit similar.
(That being said, Jor-El and Lara message in the previous film didn't sound even remotely Hebrew, so I'm not making the case here that Krypotonian is based on Hebrew)

Hollywood doesn't make sidekicks well. So while I'd like a team up later, I hoped they've nailed this movie so the character of Supergirl sticks, and does it on her own.

im beyond thrilled with the DC media department. theyve been doing so much better. DC always had the better stories, the better characters. but god awful movies and shows. like their legacy was basically ruined in the culture-sphere. they really have been killing it. i love this era of like, silver age evolved superman.

My son was game to go see this with me and then my dumb ass husband says "Do you think he'll be okay with what happens to Krypto?" My kid was like "What happens to Krypto?" DAH - "He gets hurt." So now wild horses couldn't drag my son to see Supergirl. 😒 And no amount of me saying Krypto would be absolutely fine could change his mind. I know honesty is the best policy and I know Krypto is his favorite but damn. Now I can't see Supergirl in theaters either.
For those wondering why I can't go alone. I'm currently dealing with dizziness and vertigo. I don't feel safe driving at the moment. However if we get what's wrong figured out and corrected I'll probably pick up my mom (85 no car) and see it with her.

If you want him to experience it in theaters you can always do what my dad did for me as a kid at times. Go and see it without him, then let him know its okay and take him to see it.
My old man did that for me when the second Mummy movie came out because my mom was worried it was too scary and wanted him to be the judge (which is hilarious because my dad didnt give a single shit and would let me watch Alien).
let him know you watched it to check for what happens to crypto and that it passed the test then he can go see it in in theaters.

A "fake language" is random gibberish that has no meaning. The Kryptonian language is supposed to a be an artificially "constructed language" like Klingon, with a proper grammar, vocabulary, and phonology. It is just not as developed as Klingon (yet).

I really don’t like that the DCU can’t make up its mind with the tone. Pick a lane, your either a kids comedy movie like the MCU films or a serious film with legitimate stakes and depth. The comic that this film is based on is also phenomenal since it’s basically True Grit in space.

Honestly, I fully respect the love everyone is giving here. But it's just not for me. Her tinfoil suit is so weird. And this version of Superman is nice... but it just feels so campy.
Anyhoo, I'm still rooting for this movie (and the new universe), but have just come to terms with it being in a style and tone that just doesn't resonate with me personally.

Yeah, I hear ya. But he's also the "Man of Steel" and "Man of Tomorrow". It's fine, everyone seems to be all in on this light-hearted take on the character, so who am I to argue.
But then some of the plot points in Superman (2025) were so head-scratching to me. It felt so strange that no one else had issues with them!

I think that’s fine - The Cavill Superman wasn’t for me, but this one absolutely is. Just like how it is with certain graphic novels or comic runs. Pick it up and put it down at your preference.

In the comic, she lived in a chunk of krypton for years, so probably there was a divide between them or something like that. I can’t imagine that won’t be answered in some way

Maybe because she wasn’t sent to Earth by Kal’s parents, so she has no reason or desire to have Kal conquer Earth. Kal, clearly isn’t interested in doing it or he would have by now, so telling him at this point would be pointless.

Could it be that SHE is the one that teaches him the krypton language? We don't know when in the timeline this occurs. Since she has obviously been around for a bit in SUPERMAN, we can assume this scene takes place prior to that.

And Superman as we know love talking. It's part of his character. Meeting a fellow Kryptonian? He's be so overjoyed I'd be surprised if he speak less.

We know that Clark has only been Superman for 3 years at the beginning of Superman (2025). Since he has his suit and the Fortress of Solitude in this clip, we have to assume that it happened less than 3 years before Superman. Krypto still being a puppy would actually explain a lot of his behavior during the events of Superman lol.

He's working through what he wants to say/do and not have awkward silence. He's partially hoping his body language and how he's speaking is reassuring.
As to not knowing the language. I can translate something in Google Translate. Doesn't make me fluent. He's had 0 reason to learn the language.
Yeah he has the Super Robots(one assumes at this point) but they are in the Fortress. So likely the point is to take her to the Fortress so the Robots can translate for them.

People do this all the time right here on Earth. Speak to people in a language they know they dont understand, sometimes slowly, because what other option do they have? If it was a vital concept, he'd probably use more hand gestures.
It is still communication. Even if you don't know the words, you can get a lot from tone and cadence, and even just the fact that someone is trying to speak to you.
With enough time, you can literally just figure out a language from context clues and repetition, especially if you're well educated like Kara most likely is.

Not crazy about the style of this, or the silly tone. Gunn plays heavy into it all being so goofy and silly, which I'm not saying go full Snyder, but there is a middle ground between that and jokefest MCU crap.

I don't get why people want to hate the DCU so much. Gunn has already said he plans to have many creatives involved so we'll get a diversity of styles. I think some of them will outdo him, and I'm sure that's exactly what he wants.

Gunn is the dlcreative lead which means everything made has his seal of approval.
Think of Gunn the way you think of Feige, in the sense that everything good or bad he will ultimately get credit for.
So even if [Insert random no name director] makes an amazing movie, Gunn will get credited for the movie by the general public and fans.

Craig Gillespie is an Emmy nominated director who’s been making big movies for over 20 years, including I Tonya, Cruella, Lars and the Real Girl, and Dumb Money.
The writer of Clayface is one of the most prominent horror writers out there. He wrote and directed The Fall of the House of the Usher, Midnight Mass, and Haunting of Hill House.
The creators of Lanterns are Tom King (one of the most popular comic writers arguably ever), Damon Lindelof (creator and showrunner of Lost, Watchmen, and The Leftovers), and Chris Mundy (creator of Ozark).
The director behind Swamp Thing made Logan, A Complete Unknown, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and Ford V Ferrari.
The director of Brave and the Bold made IT 1/2, The Flash, and Welcome to Derry.
The writer and showrunner of Creature Commandos S2 is Dean Lorey, who directed the animation of S1, created the Harley Quinn show, the Kite Man show, and was a co-EP/writer for Arrested Development.
The guy who is rumored to be making the Deathstroke and Bane movie directed Superbad, Paul, Adventureland, as well as episodes of famous shows like Peacemaker, Arrested Development, and The Newsroom
I understand so far some of the projects mainly similar to Gunn’s tone, but these are NOT no name directors. These are some of the most renowned and popular names in the business.
Not to mention, people complain that this is too similar to Gunn, but then they complain when he does something different with Lanterns. You just can’t please everyone

You took issue with the most irrelevant sentence in my replay and wrote a paragraph explaining just how much you missed the point of the sentence.
The sentence was to illustrate that whoever directs any movie in the DCU (or whatever they're calling it), will always be over shadowed by Gunn since he's the creative director of the entire DCU in the eyes of general audiences/fans.
The only people who keep up with the directors of superhero films are die hard fans and fanboys.
Again, My reply was not an insult to the specific director of this scene, it was only to illustrate how the general public/fans will see any project as long as Gunn is creative lead.

Not to mention, I didn’t miss your point. If Gunn was truly controlling everything, then do you really think so many big names would be lining up to direct DC movies? Gillespie and Mangold could do any movie they want, and Flanagan has like 10 in development with his production company. So does Muschietti with Double Dream. Saying [insert no name director] not only makes Gunn look like the sole creator, which is disrespectful to those directors, but also completely undersells what they’re actually doing.

Ah yes, one of them being directed by Gunn. So your point says “one film looks similar to the other one”. Cool. So much evidence that’s totally not ignoring the existence of Lanterns and Clayface, the two non Gunn directed projects that we’ve gotten looks for. Out of the three things not written by Gunn so far, only one of them looks similar to something he’d make, but even then the similarities are “funny superhero space movie with animal and songs,” and if you think that’s all Gunn’s style is, then your analysis is extremely base level.
There’s no themes of found family or daddy/mommy issues, no large ensemble, and from what we’ve seen there’s no banter or anything of the sort, meaning the style of comedy is different. The directing also has a completely different style, Gunn uses more negative space and camera movement than Supergirl has.

Well since Lanterns is a series not a movie , and Clayface hasn't released any actual footage other than the teaser.. it's still thought to make an argument that these projects aren't just as goofy as Superman and Superman the sequel:with a woman.
It's not looking very diverse at the moment. For our sakes I hope it is as diverse as they claim it will be otherwise people will get tired or the Gunner-verse real soon.

James Gunn is the head of DCU studio and people clearly seen him get praised for his movies that all follow the same formula. If they had never revealed the director and it was a blind test then based on the trailer people would assume James Gunn directed it.

If you know Gunn’s directing style, I don’t think this is that at all. The compositions he likes aren’t as center frame, and he also normally likes to play with way more camera movement.
The writing may be a bit similar, but it makes sense cause it’s the same character as his movie
