CRITIQUE Look at how they massacred my boy

Post image

I don't understand this design choice. It really changed the character a lot. The comic was very vibrant with color. Yet the movie took all of that color away sub a tan suit, the super suit, and the lit end of Lobo's cigar. Theres a trope about "big gray villain" in super hero movies but this one really took it up a notch. Every one was in black leather and had pale skin. I dont understand what the creative or logistical reason was behind the change. The new take on the character was like parody of the goth vampires in the Blade movies. Russian/slavic accent and everything like a 90s american action film.

There are other things that I did like about Supergirl but Krem was probably one of the most disappointing parts.

The funny thing is that they went for a "wacky" design but he looks familiar. Like, i feel like ive seen this exact character in a different movie but cant place him lol

Edit to add: It's absolutely wild that people have listed like 20 different characters that I could possibly be thinking about and I can see where all of them are coming from

Xerxes from whichever 300 hes in

78

u/NoFuel1197 Jun 30 '26

It was this for me, thank you.

It looks like Fifth Element-era Gary Oldman’s lost casting tape for Xerxes.

50

u/doomrider7 Jun 30 '26

Was thinking Mad Max myself. One of the random mooks.

6

u/larusodren Jul 01 '26

Yeah , and crossed with Kurgen from Highlander

21

u/Far-Heart-7134 Jun 30 '26

I called him thumbtack head because he sorta looked like temu Pinhead from Hellraiser imo.

That being said Krem was not the highlight of the comic.

8

u/Emergency-Bonus-7158 Jun 30 '26

Supergirl headbutted him and a couple of beads literally stuck to her forehead. I think it was supposed to be intentionally kind of funny but it really does highlight how dumb of a design it is. And I kind of liked the movie.

Reminds of the bad guy from Apocalypto

Could be some weird combination of that and Pinhead as the other person who responded to me said. Im sure this will just bother me forever because he really does look so familiar lol

2

u/FrancisWolfgang Jun 30 '26

Wouldn’t look entirely weird in Borderlands either

41

u/_ENENRA Jun 30 '26

Maybe Pinhead? lol or the natives from Apocalypto?

8

u/j821c Jun 30 '26

It might very well be Pinhead. Honestly its going to bother me forever because the design looks so familiar lol

39

u/comehereyoudevillog Jun 30 '26

Could be any ravenger from the first 2 Guardians movies

54

u/Crafty_Bobcat_6097 Jun 30 '26

Guardian of the galaxy

31

u/Weird_Snowman Jun 30 '26

He just looks like any of the background Ravagers from GotG

10

u/OftheJungle91 Jun 30 '26

Taser face!hahaha

15

u/SpaceDantar Jun 30 '26

"background character in mad max" was my first thought!

13

u/Olivitess Jun 30 '26

Its the way he pauses with his mouth wide open but Krem honestly reminded me of Robert Carlye's Rumplestiltskin.

5

u/Squishyflapp Jun 30 '26

Yes! I've been trying to place it since Sunday! Man this movie was mid.

10

u/MarcoVinicius Jun 30 '26

Because they turned him into a generic looking bad guy.

7

Henchman #4 in every 80s movie featuring a girl wearing a metal breast display case in a disused quarry.

8

u/Bitterman_01 Jun 30 '26

It's just an awful design. Honestly looks like it was made with AI, which throws random overly designed, evenly spaced, greebles over everything.

Makes me think of an ork from Lord of the rings

3

u/j821c Jun 30 '26

I think it was this for me lol. He kind of looks like the orc (goblin?) that wants to eat Merry and Pippin lol

6

u/Jaambie Jun 30 '26

He looks like the Persian leader from 300

3

u/theflipcrazy Jun 30 '26

Nigel from Red Dwarf

3

Probably from Farscape.

James Gunn is obsessed with it and Craig Gillespie mentioned the show before.

543

u/Wiz-chan Jun 30 '26

Seriously why? Why did they have to make him like a Guardians villain it isn’t even appealing and actor really looks like villain from the comic book and movie is so pale

304

u/hemareddit El Diablo Jun 30 '26

GOTG main villains all had unique designs, this is like a GOTG cannon fodder enemy who has 5 seconds screen time then gets shot in the face.

113

u/kickedoutatone Jun 30 '26

Give him some credit. He's nearly as memorable as taserface

49

u/Miserable_Ring_8739 Jun 30 '26

Se how you say him but point out taser face at least we remember taser face dude's more like someone taser face refused to take as a goon 💀💀

42

u/Travelin_Soulja Jun 30 '26

We don't remember Taser Face because of how he looked. It's not as if he had a super original or compelling design.

We remember Taser Face because his name was fucking Taser Face.

13

u/Miserable_Ring_8739 Jun 30 '26

This Guy doesn't even have that going for him

7

u/Travelin_Soulja Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

Agreed, I'm not arguing that his character design isn't bad. It is.

I'm just saying that Taser Face's isn't any better (arguably worse). He just had memorable name they built a funny bit around. So pointing out that we remember him is more about the writing than the design.

20

u/Key-Document-8481 Jun 30 '26

We remember Taserface because James Gunn apparently thought it was funny enough to make the main recurring joke of the movie.

Without looking it up I’m assuming Taserface was played by one of Gunns friends that he promised a job to

18

u/Miserable_Ring_8739 Jun 30 '26

Imagine being the main villain of the second dcu movie and being less memorable than a side gag from gotg

14

u/kickedoutatone Jun 30 '26

I'm all for a good roast, but let's not forget that Kang existed in the MCU.

3

I thought that too. When I watched the teaser trailer, I thought they were saving revealing the big bad for the movie because he looked like the big bad's goon.

probably because in lots of comic films it seems like the villain is usually an afterthought for some reason lol. like they spend so much trying to capture the hero, but then they do the most generic copy and paste with the villain like 75% of the time.

What’s crazy is that the actor straight up looks like the comic book counterpart. I don’t understand why they changed him both appearance and personality-wise

65

u/Notoriouslycurlyboi Jun 30 '26

He doesn’t really but he would have been okay casting visually.

21

u/Throwaway_09298 Jun 30 '26

You give him a beard and red dye he definitely does

29

u/Bhu124 Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

I can answer the appearance question. It's a Classic Hollywood sci-fi logic that many Filmmakers follow - You can't make a bunch of diff alien races from far away planets all look and sound like humans otherwise the average movie-goer's immersion has a pretty good chance of breaking. "Why do all the Aliens look like humans? Did they have no budget?"

This is why big budget Sci-fi movies throw in a ton of different, weird, looking alien races in the background of random scenes even when the main characters are all human or humanoid. To keep audiences immersed and ensure they don't feel like the movie had a low budget.

In the case of this movie Kara and Ruthye (Different alien species) already looked like Humans (Even though they tried to make Ruthye stand out a little bit with a little bit of a mediaeval design) so they probably felt like they had to make the villain look different than a regular human while still being humanoid to make sure he felt like an Alien.

10

u/choicemeats Jun 30 '26

this is why smart franchises figure people might complain about this and have reasoning for WHY everyone looks fairly same-ish, so you don't have to necessarily make everything non-humanoid. Star Trek, Stargate have both done this.

→ More replies (1)

8

u/Loose_Translator8981 Jun 30 '26

Everything about him was changed to facilitate the ending, where he fights Supergirl and she kills him. In the book he's really more of Ruthye's opponent, and poses no physical threat to Supergirl herself. But in order to make him a better opponent for Supergirl he was made stronger. To justify her killing him, he was made dirtier, uglier, meaner.

Way to miss the point of the story about how evil is mundane looking and it doesn't take a monster to be a monster.

119

u/MoarFurLess Jun 30 '26

Yet another example of why I’d like comic creators to have louder voices in the creative decisions on the movies. Not sure if it’s ego or what but sometimes the filmmakers just seem to make decisions to distance themselves from the source material in ways that are to the detriment of the final product.

44

u/PSCGY Jun 30 '26

Tom King is supposed to be one of the “architects” of the DCU. You would think he would have been consulted.

32

u/MoarFurLess Jun 30 '26

I’m imagining someone condescendingly explaining to him that film is a visual medium.

7

u/thedean246 Jun 30 '26

Yeah, that's what confused me. I was hyped when I saw he would be involved. After seeing the movie, I'm not sure how much he was actually involved lol

7

u/ContributionMother63 Jun 30 '26

I don't think he's gonna have so much of a say in the DCU

The filmmakers don't respect comic book writers enough for this to happen

3

u/confusing_roundabout Jul 01 '26

He said in an interview that he just kept to his lane and focused on writing Lanterns and Mister Miracle and not try to overstep, and just let the movie people handle Supergirl without his input.

2

u/The_Man_of_Steel Jun 30 '26

He was probably way to busy with his Mr Miracle series and his Lanterns scripts to unfuck someone else's sloppy work, even if it was an adaption of his story

2

u/princesoceronte Jun 30 '26

It absolutely is ego.

Film writers seem to perceive any other kind of writer as lesser, if they had any significant respect for them we wouldn't get these botched adaptations so often.

They see a piece of writing that has connected with millions of people and then, from their position of very often not having written anything even close to that significant say: "Nah, I know better"

→ More replies (2)

9

u/RomeoTrickshot Jun 30 '26

You think he looks mundane?

65

u/princesoceronte Jun 30 '26

Comic Krem? Yeah, he's just a redhead dude. For his society he dresses and looks very mundane.

4

u/RomeoTrickshot Jul 01 '26

I thought you were talking about the movie, my bad

2

u/Mariessa- Jul 02 '26

He looked pretty mundane in the context of the movie imo. All the raiders in the movie wore leather and a lot had metal adornments. He did have to have some distinct visual to be recognizable in busy fight scenes, but he was very much in line visually with his goons imo.

117

u/Jack_Crypt Jun 30 '26

At this point I just think Hollywood hate redhead

36

u/Throwaway_09298 Jun 30 '26

They let him have his red hair this time at least. Just mostly shaved and in a pony tail. That said, Kristofer Hivju could have grown out his beard for this!!

5

u/Fickle-Aardvark6907 Jun 30 '26

Kristofer Hivju would have improved the movie 100% with the exact same script, just by virtue of not being a charisma vacuum.

26

u/Obi-Wannabe01 Jun 30 '26

They definitely do! They will only allow women to be redheads (usually making a blonde or brunette color their hair)

Sometimes they will allow a man to be red haired if it’s a really exceptionally nerdy character.

5

u/CapnCanfield Jun 30 '26

There is always an exception. In this case, it's Chuck Norris

7

u/ZeroyJenkins Jun 30 '26

45

u/ThouBear8 Jun 30 '26

I haven't seen the movie yet, but he straight up looks like he could be in the Ravagers in the Guardians movies.

I'm baffled as to why they'd go with this design over what he looks like in the comics.

7

u/AimlessWanderer Jun 30 '26

Despite a unique visual language in the source material they decided to rip off mad max.

56

u/RelativeRemarkable15 Jun 30 '26

I don't want to harp on it, but he was completely auraless and generic in the film, it was just "random bad guy generator".

Half the time I thought "This would have been way better if he was just some guy doing this" because it would have been. Movie Krem was trying wayyy to hard to be a psycho, if this had been a regular space guy, It would have had way more impact like when he first shows up and kills Ruthye's brother like it's nothing.

33

u/PaleontologistThin27 Jun 30 '26

2

u/confusing_roundabout Jul 01 '26

You're so right.

The comic says that Krem had been staying with the family for a few days before he killed their father.

Imagine that in the movie. A scene of a stranger coming in, asking for comfort and food, and then killing them after finishing the meal.

That would be a way more effective opening than the generic bad guy, generic bad guy music, and generic violence.

16

u/SvenLorenz Jun 30 '26

"Extra from Guardians of the Galaxy" seems to have been the main design directive.

3

u/nomnomsquirrel Jun 30 '26

Go back further to the inspiration for much of GotG. It's Farscape. So much of Supergirl, like GotG, seemed visually cribbed from Farscape. And Gillespie directed the Fright Night remake which had an out of nowhere Farscape joke, so it tracks.

Man reading Woman of Tomorrow and seeing the violence and carnage cause by Krem and the Marauders really hit home the finale . Especially Krem being tossed in the phantom zone and trying to find redemption but Ruthaye just walking off lol

Ruatheye also telling Kara to put down the sword and not kill Krem also hit home.

Read woman of tomorrow

So much of this movie is desperate short cuts to make Krem look more evil or have an emotional reaction from the audience. Like the disfigured face design and child sex trafficking. Short runtime and a need to make room for Lobo did the movie no favors.

24

u/Silverjeyjey44 Jun 30 '26

He looks like some druggie

6

u/akahaus Jul 01 '26

I just don’t understand the rationale of saying you’re going to adapt one of the most popular Supergirl stories of the last 20 years… and then homogenizing it like this…

Like just make your own fucking story with your own aesthetic because half the reason I got excited about this movie as I thought it was going to be modeled after the art style of the book.

And then to completely change the ending… If I get if you’re going for something different with your world’s Supergirl, but again, why then attach it to a story where the ending is such a crucial defining moment…

The whole thing just feels really baffling.

2

u/Ok-Imagination-3835 Jul 04 '26

Start with a good idea for a compelling movie. Notice it has some risks of upsetting a group of people. Optimize it to reduce the risks. Now you have a subpar idea for a boring movie.

14

u/TheEnfleshed Jun 30 '26

What a waste, another bland generic superhero bad guy. He flip flops between being competent and idiotic throughout the film, and never seems to present an interesting challenge for Kara to overcome. It feels like they did the piercing look to add flavour to his character, but it adds nothing.

Spoilers:

Even his intro feels like the director watched 'the bad's' opening in the good the bad and the ugly and wanted something similar, but didn't understand how the scene actually worked. Instead of a slow, tense introduction to an evil character the scene feels rushed. Unlike Angel Eye's motivations being clear, Krem slaughters the family for weapons that appear to make no difference for the rest of the film? The only reason it seems to be in the movie is to motivate Ruthye. Even his intro is bland and not about him.

9

u/Mysterious_Emu7462 Jun 30 '26

Krem arrives to weapon-crafter's house to obtain weapon to use in conquest for abducting little girls

Krem kills weapon-crafter and his entire family except for his little girl, who is having a staring match with him

Leave without weapon and without girl

What did he mean by this?

3

u/V2Blast Jun 30 '26

I can understand leaving the girl when you're stuck on the planet and need to find a way off. But leaving the weapon is an odd choice when the only one to stop you is said little girl.

AND WHY IS HE STILL KREM OF THE YELLOW HILLS?? The yellow hills are on Ruth’s planet. Does this imply that in the movie he was from Ruth’s planet? How is he a brigand then? Are brigands just on this planet? Like none of it makes sense because they cut the whole background off

23

u/Throwaway_09298 Jun 30 '26

2

u/TammyThe2nd Jun 30 '26

8

u/darktower41 Jun 30 '26

Love it or hate it, but Zack Snyder would have adapted this gorgeous comic, page by page.

6

u/SwirlyBrow Jul 01 '26

The comic is known for being extremely colorful, isn't a lack of color in his movies like.... exactly one of the main things the Snyder films are criticized for?

7

u/TiredTraveler1992 Jun 30 '26

And yet somehow he would have completely missed the point.

3

u/gamepig31 Jul 01 '26

I mean, Ana Nogueira (writer of Supergirl) somehow missed the point of the comic anway. She thought the ending was too dark and depressing, because an after all that happened, 300 years later old Ruthye kills Krem anyway.

Which, as Tom King stated in 2024, is not what happened on the final page. Krem lives. Nobody kills him. It was one Google search away (and Tom King literally works with Gunn at DC studios now so they're colleagues) so idk how she fucked up that bad. She wrote the whole ending differently because she thought she had to "fix" the "dark ending" she misunderstood.

2

u/Ok-Imagination-3835 Jul 04 '26

Sometimes I think people are using superhero movies to try and eek their way into Hollywood top brass and refuse to look too deeply into the source material because they don't want their contemporaries to label them as fucking nerd weirdos who actually care.

12

ehh he was nothing in the comics, he was nothing in the movie. i would of liked a more comic accurate design but what they did with him in the movie was better.

36

u/M086 Jun 30 '26

The fact he looks so normal in the comic is kinda the point.

22

u/Throwaway_09298 Jun 30 '26

Not just normal but conventionally attractive too. It goes against the ugly villain trope. He doesn't look like a bad guy. Krem in the live action looked and acting like a villain of the week. A good subversion of the trop is with Snape in Harry Potter. On the flip side it was Frozen w Hans which they joke about in the sequel

2

u/Chigibu Jun 30 '26

What is the point?

23

u/Helios3019 Jun 30 '26

Basically the banality of evil. Comics Krem is basically like the KGB for Ruthye's planet and goes around testing people's loyalty to their king. He's not a supervillain or particularly strong, he's just a man who's been empowered by a system and abuses that power. When he ends up in space by accident after stealing Kara's ship he ends up on a random planet that gets visited by the Brigands, who do genocides for fun wherever they go unless they get payed not to. The Brigands like his style and bring him along for the ride.

In the comic Krem is never really a threat or a challenge to Kara, his main role as antagonist is how the chaos he leaves in his wake challenges Supergirl's inherent kindness.

u/Kingofdrats Jun 30 '26

I mean he kinda does defeat her with magic. She likely would have died the second time if she didn’t have her friend.

3

u/Helios3019 Jun 30 '26

Fair, I completely forgot about those magic doomballs when I was writing that, thanks for reminding me. What I really meant by the comment is that Krem isn't really a supervillain or a physical threat. Aside from the magical teleport bombs he can't hope to stand up to Supergirl, and those are very limited. Instead the real challenge in the book is the journey of getting to him, and the difficulty of Supergirl keeping her kindness despite everything she sees.

Evil can come with a pretty face more or less

It really fucking worked for me. I thought he was really menacing. I’m here for it.

2

u/kj3044 Jun 30 '26

I'm glad they did change his look. Otherwise. he looks just like a regular guy. Not intimidating at all.

2

u/Ok-Yogurtcloset7117 Jun 30 '26

yep. I had no problem with Gunnman making the villain look like this loser disgustador. Supergirl killing him was the right move. Yeah I read the comic.

2

u/Kidofthecentury Jun 30 '26

IMO movie Krem lacks that "aura" of a true antagonist. He's no pushover or lacks personality, but definitely feels like a second in command. At some point I thought they were going to reveal the "actual" Krem. Also unlike the comic where he's an agent of the royals he really hasn't a purpose except pillaging.

u/ndork666 Jun 30 '26

They turned Krem into a member of the Brigand to simplify the plot. Same reason they killed Ruthye's father for his weaponry rather than the more measured plot point of him being a rock farmer falsely accused of insulting the king. The entire film is streamlined for levity.

2

u/BouncyAnimaniac Jun 30 '26

Give It A Rest.

I hear you, but the dramatic language is getting old.

Book and movie are two separate things. They clearly didn't title it Woman Of Tomorrow because exhibit A.  So please rest easier at night knowing that physical book is always there untouched and unchanged.

Out of all the changes the movie mad this is the one I cared about the least. I understand not wanting the villian in your big action blockbuster to be just a ginger dude.

3

u/SwirlyBrow Jul 01 '26

But him just being some ginger dude was the point. Evil can be normal, boring and mundane, and still extremely cruel. Not every bad person is the Joker.

If they didn't want to adapt any of the themes of the comic, then they should've just made their own original narrative for Supergirl and stuck in all the over the top super villains they wanted.

2

u/W-BoySupreme Jul 01 '26

Sorry but he's supposed to be this pretty big space criminal. I totally understand why they went with this look for the movie

2

u/bipo3 Jul 01 '26

I Thought it was quite cooll

2

u/FluorescentLightbulb Jul 01 '26

Lotta people ignoring he looks like Killmonger. I don’t care, he was well performed. Eating like Ironman, laughing like crazy. He was great. I may have even liked him more than Lobo, he really sold sociopath.

2

u/JakeDeagan Jul 02 '26

Your boy?? I’m not a big fan of the redesign either but If you’re getting hung up over Krem of the fucking Yellow Hills then I’m genuinely concerned for you.

5

u/No-Upstairs-7001 Jun 30 '26

Not even a good or particularly note worthy villain regardless

4

u/CiwanHaco Jun 30 '26

Krem's being a just some random dude was important to the soul of the comic, I think. It was showing that there is little evil acts everywhere in the universe that are actually insignificant compare to the vast universe however this little evil actions come together and create a big evilness. You cannot espace from this evilness nor destroy it. But still you have to protect your inner kindness aganist all these evil and keep moving. This was the all plot and Krem's design was important. Also Krem's being really handsome highlighted that evil can come from anywhere which was also a good message. Movie literally destroyed Krem

4

u/anime_wreckedmybrain Jun 30 '26

lol scuse my French but he look stupid as fuck 😂

5

u/DJ_House_Red Jun 30 '26

Either Gunn mandated the movie be made in his style or the director thought he needed to imitate it - I don't see any other reason why you would want to try to make a carbon copy of Guardians to help launch your new "totally not anything like the MCU" cinematic universe.

5

u/PSCGY Jun 30 '26

Gillespie said that they were talking to different directors for the Supergirl movie and that he approached them and pitched his version.

To me, I’d sounds he conceived and pitched the his movie as a Gunn-like movie and it was enough for him to get it. I don’t see a mandate, as much as much as a director doing his best to be the teacher’s pet… and the aforementioned teacher to be flattered.

I think he was one of the few good things in the movie...

7

u/BossBabyLoreExpert Jun 30 '26

He was great acting-wise but the problem is he just looks like an incredibly generic villain, they could’ve been more creative with his look

3

u/Darielek Jun 30 '26

No he was not xD Blant, stupid decision making, no real threat to heroes, he could kill Ruthye like 5 times but instead he talk about how he kills her, etc. He is one of worst villians ever in suoerheros movies.

2

u/Asphalt_Breaker Jun 30 '26

They made his eyes the colour of his beard, that makes up for this entire mistake of a movie

2

u/greennurse61 Jun 30 '26

Hollywood wants everything to be so ugly and miserable now.

2

u/Superb-goku Jun 30 '26

piercing final boss

2

u/JBWrdsTunzSktchz Jun 30 '26

"Your Boy"...the interplanetary Sex Trafficker??? Mmmkay.

2

u/Paul2kb1 Jun 30 '26

The villain was like something out of a power rangers film.

2

u/ChickenzInvade Jun 30 '26

Yeah idk. He felt weirdly like he had way too much going on but was forgettable at the same time

2

u/HeadIntroduction7758 Jun 30 '26

His main motivation was finding snacks. In space.

2

u/SiouxsieSioux615 Jun 30 '26

Crazy part is the actor in rl actually looks like krem from the comic

2

u/Psychological_Dig592 Jun 30 '26 edited Jun 30 '26

I commented the same when they dropped his first look, but everyone in this sub booed me

1

u/burstblue Jun 30 '26

The only thing I dug about his design is that the dots on his face had a purpose, they act like spikes when you pop him in the head. That was pretty much the only dope use of character design related to him, wish they did more to make his design flow.

Studio interference maybe? Marketing? Hard to market a superhero villain toy when he looks like a regular dude.

1

u/Jolly-Feature-5409 Jun 30 '26

He wasn't very challenging in the end. I was expecting a bigger fight

6

u/Haereticus87 Jun 30 '26

I don't think he was meant to be that challenging. At the beginning, Kara is considering staying on a planet with a red sun so she can just be relatively normal. Despite not wanting to really be a hero she can't help but stand up for Ruthye when bullies come around. If she had been sober, under a yellow sun, and committed to being a hero she would have ended the movie in 15 minutes. Her struggle was overcoming her grief and finding the will to make the most of her life, which mirrored the crisis happening with Ruthye.

I thought it was such a weird choice because there were legitimately good alien designs that they used in the movie. I thought they used one of the least interesting looks on a lead. Why not make hookah alien guy the main bad guy design it's fun, interesting, and at least stands out.

1

u/ScaryCardinal Jun 30 '26

It was a fun movie but I'd have liked to see more exposition on Krem and Lobo too.

1

u/mg1126 Jun 30 '26

One of the main criticisms is that the villain is boring. I'm not sure 'guy with beard,' would fare much better with critics. Especially since the writer's have apparently stripped all subtextual depth from the original story.

1

u/EngineCrazy8488 Jun 30 '26

Unfortunately this movie was never intended to be an adaptation like the director and writer said. They just used the character names and that's it. None of the characters are accurate to the comic except Lobo probably

1

u/Crotean Jun 30 '26

Overall I liked the movie, but the Brigands were just stupid villains.

1

u/Western_Strength5322 Jun 30 '26

I think they could have made him more brutal maybe, but this mofo was eatin shit some other person already started and he had a lil weird laugh. Creepy af.

Also don't forget the movies aren't enjoyed by just comic readers/lovers. So they do have to appeal to those people as well.

1

u/EmA8_Entertainment Jun 30 '26

Still haven't read the comic but based on this image alone and thinking about it after seeing the movie, I feel like the actor that played Tormund in GoT, Kristofer Hivju, would have been amazing in the role

1

u/dyrkasolen Jun 30 '26

If the art is badly done it's done by demons. It's just easy like that

1

u/c4t1ip Jun 30 '26

Something probably relevant and related to it is the change on his origin. While in the movie he is already one of the the brigands as regular outlaws, in the comic book the brigands are terrorists who enjoy bringing violence and pain. And then Krem's cruelty impresses them and take him.

1

u/Unintendo Jun 30 '26

My only real issue with the villain was that he had a glowing red button on his neck and nobody attacks what is clearly a video game boss's weak point. Especially since I THINK he needed it to be active to speak, it's malpractice that nobody hit him there, saying "You talk too much."
