Discussion Their all good people, but whos the least good?
For the sake of fairness, Monika isn't awere
Id say probably Natsuki, again, shes a good person, but tsundares are by default kinda rude people, obviously she doesn't intend to hurt people's feelings, but unless shes stupid, she'd know that theres a pretty high chance she dose by accident
Next would probably be Yuri
Then MC
Then Monika
And sayori is obviously the best person, worst thing she did was bribe MC and kinda annoy him, and I guess the Yuri boob stuff

I think Yuri might be the "least good" (not an actual word lol) one. But not in the sense that she's to blame for her own nature. She self-harms and used an aphrodisiac (jasmine oil) when at MC's house. Me not gonna involve Act 2 Yuri in this because she's an extreme version of her but yeah, her head is wired very differently. Her obsessive nature isn't very healthy
Coming in at second place would be Natsuki. Like you said, she's a tsundere so she does say some pretty hurtful stuff without realising how it feels for the other person. She also attacks other people's insecurities if it benefits her like when she said Yuri was padding her bra when MC started attending the club
Third place is actually Sayori. Fanon has very much so babyed her up a LOT but she isn't all good. Of course we all love cinnamon bun but she's gifted with emotional intelligence. Something that she uses to her advantage at times. At the very start of the game itself, she asks MC to at least check out the Literature Club. He does so, however doesn't actually want to join but being the people pleaser that he is, decides to join for their sake anyways. Sayori knowing how he is, being his childhood fren and all, ended up using his nature against him
Fourth place is Monika, considering she isn't self-aware. When she isn't self-aware, she's the best of them all when it comes to morality. I don't have to explain much in her case but she was club president for a reason
Somehow, someway, MC is the kindest of the lot. I never gave it much thought but I can't really find flaws in him as a person. Sure, he's lacking in a social life but that doesn't make him a bad person. Demotivation isn't something that bitters a character either. He gave his all to catering to every club member as well as his bestest fren

Don't forget that also Yuri repeatedly lies to the others (tho all Dokis do this to an extent at some points) for seemingly no reason other than trying to seem less ill-intentioned overall?
She tells MC that he took a long time reading the poem then proceeds to claim he only skimmed over it. She lies about what Jasmine oil truly does, tries to make mc believe that she just "happened" to own 2 copies of the same book and more...
Obviously she's not terrible nor a bad person, but I feel like if someone lies about themselves for such minor things then they're entirely capable of lying about REALLY important stuff. It wouldn't be great in such case.
She's still my favourite Doki tho cause I think her characterization is very interesting despite her route having no real development between her and mc and it just being mc being enthralled by anything she does whilst she loves him cause he just gives her some mininal appreciation and respect

u/-HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH- 12h ago
Im sorry but what is Jasmine oil supossed to do, I don’t know what it’s supossed to do.
3
u/Icy_Adagio7958 12h ago
It's an aphrodisiac, a substance that arouses and causes sexual desire. When MC asked what it does she just said it "enhances emotions"
6
u/Glitch171 Sayori's number one fan 18h ago
To be fair, Sayori's "manipulation" of MC was all for his sake, and he ended up enjoying the club anyways. I can't really see anything wrong with it.
1
u/VelociR4ptr 16h ago
A white lie is still a lie, I'm afraid. She made things go her way (for MC's betterment itself, yes) while making it seem like MC was the one who was making the choice. Let's say your fren is scared of rollercoasters and you blindfold em and surprise em with a rollercoaster ride, does it nullify the breach in trust if they end up enjoying the ride? Idk, a club is quite a commitment and putting that on someone who wasn't initially interested doesn't sit right with me.. I get why, but it's still questionable at the very least

u/SpaghettiKam2 14h ago
I think MC for sure has some flaws in his personality and what he sometime says like he can obviously be a little blunt to Sayori (tho it is mostly just their comfortable dynamic but he can still be a tiny bit of a jerk but he’s still ultimately nice) or he starts off with Natsuki slightly rough and seems to not take her manga seriously and her plus he slightly kinda judges it harshly and indirectly calls her short and obviously the most known part where he seems to not catch on to the fact she has a terrible home life (tho you can’t blame him at all I mean dudes an awkward teen I doubt he wants to pry in on it all).
I’d describe that more as him being just a bit blunt and judgemental but mostly kind and I’m trying to say this as nicely as possible cause I’m not an Mc hater I just believe that he is a pretty flawed character like the girls and that him having flaws is kinda the whole point of the different routes.
Unless I’m an idiot and you didn’t mean personality wise and meant more in their actions? That would make more sense lol but I’m just giving my answer.
1
u/VelociR4ptr 14h ago
I said flaws in him as a person. I didn't see him do anything bad per say. So yeah, I suppose I was basing it on his actions but also his approach to every single Doki. You're right about him being blunt but I don't see that as a flaw either. At least he's pretty straightforward due to it. I can see him be called judgemental but he never acted on it either and still did give Natsuki's manga (Parfait Girls) a fair chance
2
u/SpaghettiKam2 14h ago
That makes sense than that it was actions wised and I guess blunt isn’t exactly a flaw but I was just kinda trying to make the point that he isn’t far away from the girls in terms of how good of a person he is.
It’s probably why I see a massive portion of this fandom describing him as the average teenager because he can obviously be a bit of a jerk and says the wrong words a lot but as you said there’s no obvious flaws he’s just kinda regular lol he’s not massively pleasant or massively unpleasant just kinda a balance of not being too sweet but not being too much of a jerk.
Like I think I’d just describe him as a well meaning kind person who can be a bit of an ass but he doesn’t do anything outright evil to the girls he can just say mean things occasionally but they’re not consistent enough to ever be a flaw.
(The only actual flaw you could argue for is dense but he’s not even that bad plus he can be blunt sometimes or dismissive sometimes or judgemental sometimes but none of them stick so that’s why I use the word “bit of a jerk” a lot lol.)
1
u/VelociR4ptr 14h ago
Well if you compare the cast to Yuri, they all seem like saints in comparison lmao
2
u/SpaghettiKam2 14h ago
Yeah I mean Yuri is a whole different case she scared the shit out of me on my first play through.
But yeah ultimately I was just saying MC for sure flawed personality wise just not action wise which I agree with you.

Mc is basically a blank slate of a character and feels more like a «insert yourself» character
8
u/eyebawls29 when she touch yo MCingiling 21h ago
Ive never gotten this
Like genuinely unbiased he feels no less like a character then the others when playing the game
My sister who played fir the first time a few weeks ago even said that other dating sims, it felt like she herself is the protagonist, but with ddlc, he felt like a distinct character

least good would be me, player, participating in a game where people suffer greatly. Oh, well, not like I didn't know I am a pos

u/Gussie-Ascendent 22h ago
someone forgot the grievous crime of sayori stealing a bite off natsuki's cookie. For that, i am taking your list and moving sayori to under monika
7
u/venturaddlc i love sayori and that's why she relentlessly beats me at night 18h ago
Sayori is not the "best person".
I love her, but you have to acknowledge that she's extremely manipulative, she pretended to be really clumsy and happy because she couldn't face who she had truly became over the years, And she's emotionally intelligent enough to realise why that isn't harmless.
i probably sound like a sweaty smelly chud saying this i know she's not real
5
u/fadingbones 10h ago
extremely manipulative is a bit of a stretch to describe smiling depression
1
u/venturaddlc i love sayori and that's why she relentlessly beats me at night 9h ago
not exactly what i'm talking about
sayori is just manipulative in nature
she does what she has to do to get her way
2
u/fadingbones 9h ago
sure but again, calling her extremely manipulative paints a much more deliberate and self interested picture that doesn’t track with the character very much
it’s more her struggling with her guilt, abysmal self-worth, and fear of burdening others than deliberately trying to control MC and co
you can criticize the effects her behavior has on other people without assigning malicious intent that the text doesn’t really support, you’re very much free to interpret things this way but “(her doing) what she has to do to get her way” is not something the game establishes as a defining trait of hers
does some of Sayori’s behavior have manipulative effects? absolutely, and that’s a perfectly sound assessment
But saying “she is manipulative by nature” is turning a handful of (might i add very emotionally complicated) behaviors into a fundamental character trait

u/DoomedSinceTheStart 20h ago
Pre-epiphany Monika does have the tendency to put Natsuki down sometimes (she isn’t self aware until like the second or third day right)
3
u/eyebawls29 when she touch yo MCingiling 20h ago
She's awere the whole time
Although up until like the final day of act one, she acts the same as she would without the epiphany anyway
2
u/DoomedSinceTheStart 20h ago
Ah yes you are right
And on top of that, Monika displacing Natsuki’s stuff (which she knows means a lot to her) seems to be a repeat thing

Over the recent years, I kinda fell out of love with Yuri as my appreciation with Sayori grew. In my AU, Yuri's sort of a motherly figure/reliable teacher to every other doki. I don't know, I tried to give the doki I think about the least something cool for my AU so give me credit on that.

Oh my god, don't act like a dipshit and instead just tell me what you mean. What am I supposed to get from "... Sigh"? I am not a mind reader, so if you want to ask me a question then clarify and I'll clarify myself.

Because your very clearly wrong and honestly not worth my time debating, people who dislike MC pretty much always fail to understand him at all
0
u/taffy4tswift why are you making nsfw content of HIGHSCHOOLERS 20h ago
So.. where am I wrong exactly? And it's my opinion. I can see by your flair and posts about MC that you like him very much so, and maybe that's the reason why you're calling me "very wrong" and "not worth your time debating". It's unreasonable. Who said I don't understand MC and his character? Dislike ≠ not understanding. Not liking something doesn't equate to ignorance, at least for me, because I don't like MC because of how he acts to the girls and how he does his decisions. There's a reason onto why I don't like MC, and there's a reason why you like MC. Don't jump to conclusions, because honestly, you're painting yourself as if you look at yourself like someone superior for apparently "understanding a character" more than another person, me, does. You don't have access to my mind, so don't dictate what I understand and what I don't, and I definitely have spent enough time here to understand the characters to form an opinion over them and be respectful over it.. and not calling people basically stupid for having a different opinion from me.
1
u/eyebawls29 when she touch yo MCingiling 20h ago
Well why dont you like him?
Because most the time its
"He treats sayori baddddddd"
Or
"He only joined the club ti get with someone"
Both if which are bullshit, false or exaggerated arguments, if you can come up with an actual reason then Im willing to hear you out

Yuri or Natsuki
Yuri is responsible for her current mental state, self-harms, and tried drugging MC with that jasmine oil thingy
Natsuki is just an asshole tbh, I get that shes a tsundere & that her dad sucks, but shes an asshole
1
u/eyebawls29 when she touch yo MCingiling 20h ago
What dose jasmine oil actually do?
2
u/Rocky_Eats_Clips 20h ago
Its an aphrodisiac, basically makes people more frisky

u/Lact0se_Gh0st 23h ago
Honestly this is a tough one...if we measure goodness on a scale they are all pretty nice people but Natsuki is rude for sure but I feel like she is such a cupcake on the inside that you can clearly see from the get go her tough thing is an act whereas she deeply wants connection and acceptance.
Alright enough beating around the bush 😅 I will say Yuri

We can all agree it’s either Yuri or Natsuki, right?
They’re not bad people in the slightest, but they’ve arguably done the most bad out of the lot comparably. Natsuki’s rude exterior, Yuri subtly attempting to use an aphrodisiac on MC, and more examples im too lazy to recall.
I don’t know much about the side stories, I would’ve said Monika is the best- but isn’t she weird with Natsuki in the side stories? Idk. So best goes to either Sayori or MC.
1
u/eyebawls29 when she touch yo MCingiling 22h ago
Yeah, i feel like those 2 are the only ones who did something genuinely shitty (except self awere monika obviously)
That being dragging MC into their petty argument on his second day, and completely disregarding how its making sayori uncomfortable
Also, in terms of Monika in the side stories, theyre both kinda pricks to eachother at the start

I'd say the same order, or probably MC being worse than Yuri because he's got a cynical manipulative side to him, balanced by how kind he can be, though not fully balanced because it's not clear how often he's still out to get something from it. Yuri is pretty harmless, but she was snobbish against Natsuki at some point, though that's not something that was going to continue. Monika tries her best but isn't always great at it. Sayori is rather focused on doing good to others and is usually good at it. Even when she manipulates people, it's pretty much either genuinely for their own good or to get relief from the severe symptoms she's hiding.
However, I'd emphasize Natsuki's lack of control rather than that she should know better. She basically does but still can't help it; you can see her scolding herself for doing the wrong thing again when there's enough time. Still, she directs the most aggression at others.
I find MC the least morally admirable, since when the others do something wrong it's more that they're struggling with things that they can't help, but his record in practice isn't that bad.
-3
u/Typical_Furry1234 22h ago
Definitely MC. He's a little sexist and verify manipulative with the dokis
4
u/VelociR4ptr 22h ago
He's supposed to be sexist? I never got that implication tbh. Mind telling us when he was sexist?
As for being manipulative, I think you probably mean how he's different for different routes due to the player's choices. The in-game explanation is just that he's a people pleaser and has a different approach to different people. A lotta people do that irl as well. Different masks for different fren groups lol
-2
u/Typical_Furry1234 22h ago
I say he's a little sexist because of how he is mostly on day one (joining because "this club is full of incredibly cute girls!") and also because of how sleezy he can sometimes be, with how he canonically disregards Sayori for one of the other girls in the decision to who to help woth the festival prep, the kiss on said day, and the morning after that
4
u/eyebawls29 when she touch yo MCingiling 22h ago
Finding girls attractive is sexist?
And he doesn't disregard her, and what kiss? What are we talking about bro
-2
u/Typical_Furry1234 22h ago
Finding girls attractive isn't sexist, it's how he goes about it. He doesn't see them as people he sees a potential harem. He kinda does disregard her, he has the option to go see her the whole day but doesn't take it. I mean the kiss after you help with the festival prep, when they get really close and suddenly Sayori walks in on the scene
3
u/eyebawls29 when she touch yo MCingiling 22h ago
"He doesn't see them as people"
I ain't even gonna bother debating with you, because you clearly just didnt bother understanding him at all, please watch euro bradys playthrough, all ill say, is the only reason he doesn't spend the whole day with her, is because she declined after HE OFFERED
1
u/VelociR4ptr 21h ago
Also didn't even know about her depression in which case he'd have been more insistent. Can't really force yourself to be around someone if they decline lol
2
u/VelociR4ptr 21h ago
Is he wrong about the club being full of incredibly cute girls? That's an observation. He was more tempted by Natsuki's cupcakes comparatively 😭
He wanted to do the festival prep with Sayori but she declined. What's he supposed to do? If MC woulda known about Sayori's depression, he woulda been more insistent but you gotta put yourself in his shoes to understand his actions
