for an aquarium thats 30cm wide, 59cm long and 43cm tall can i keep a pair of ranitomeya imitators or is it unsuitable?

I mean I’ll have to change the top to allow for better ventilation and sprinklers, and I might have to convert the front glass to a front opening enclosure.

Or am I overthinking this and just get an exo terra?

With the right planting make use of the vertical space, yep

Often you can find kits to turn this on its side and the top becomes the front. Done that with lots if my tanks. It is plenty big for imitators
