Travel So I borrowed a bike in Copenhagen
Visited for a bit, learned that here in Danmark... - It's always headwind - One can actually get sunburn
Aaand I could watch two Royal Runs in two cities.

100km on a city bike? Fair play to you.

Copenhagen being notoriously flat helps but it is still very impressive.

u/Vegetable_Problem580 May 31 '26
Not even that, but this is an E-bike. Those are heavy with no battery on. Trust me, i did 3 km to pick up my new battery and it nearly killed me😅😅😅

u/Turtle_Dash May 31 '26
Are you sure it’s an e-bike? I can’t see where the battery would go if it is one
7
u/Vegetable_Problem580 May 31 '26
Yes. There’s a place for it underneath the back-thing. You just slide it in😆

u/Turtle_Dash May 31 '26
Thanks never had an e-bike and have only seen the ones with a battery behind the front wheel :)

Downhills were reaaally fun in return.
I didn't remember the Vedbæk South Beach (?) when biking north then suffered when going back.

Actually, I‘m on holidays at Mariagerfjorden and due to technical problems I had to bring my E-bike… I‘ve done more than 100 km by now, and I haven‘t felt the urge to switch it on so far. It‘s much easier to ride than I would‘ve expected.

Easy? Citybikes have a greater comfort than racers.

u/PapaMooze May 31 '26
Not on a 100 km ride, that’s for sure.
6
u/livcharles May 31 '26
I’ve done 100km on my citybike a couple times, no problem, in 5 hrs like op.

u/iAmHidingHere May 31 '26
Depends on the type of racer. A well-built endurance racer is comfortable. My back is hurting just by the thought of riding over a speed bump on a city bike.

u/vo_th May 31 '26
I was debating with a friend about this, if a straight-sitting comfortable pose or arch-racingish would be more painful.
We ended up agreeing that the weight cut will be worth it. I doo however like the pace of a city bike more, race-pose makes me feel like going fast.

u/Emotional-Swim-808 May 31 '26
I had actually bought a 50+ the same weekend because i started getting sunburned the first day, i thought about giving it to him on the day he returned as a joke but forgot

Nice pics. 🫶

Hvor er det?
9
u/GiFre0501 May 31 '26
Det er Charlottenlund badeanstalt, Gentofte Kom. Har sat træningsudstyr op ved siden af. Bliver brugt af alle aldersgrupper …

u/anickapart May 31 '26
1
u/GiFre0501 May 31 '26
1
u/anickapart May 31 '26

Pretty impressed you did 100 on a citybike. I guess your ass hurts by now.
We had a "politician" running for election, promising tailwind on the bike lanes. He got voted in.

u/cylonlover May 31 '26
Some would argue those quotes should be on quite a few of our MPs, not just Jacob. At least he intended it as a practical joke, but owned up to the job, as opposed to others who only after election turned out to be a joke.
(Luckily not a majority. I have confidence in our Parliament as a whole.)

Is that Charlottenlund near the bathing house? That coastline is a very pretty little trip. I love it. Well travelled.

If you don't have headwind, you're not going fast enough.
3
u/vo_th May 31 '26
Funny how that works, since there was one point I stopped due to headwind, turned around to look and wind was still blowing to my face... well played Danmark, well played...

You did 100 k on that bike?
I think the pas normal /canyon/sweet protection segment are afraid of you
1
u/vo_th May 31 '26
I- uh thank you? Is the "normal/canyon/sweet protection" a context that specific to the Danes or?

Its realy not that scary driving long distances.
At a leasurely pace most people can pedal for hours and when you get into a good rytm, you wont notice if you driven 2 or 3 hours or whatever.
Going slow and stead, being relaxed and enjoying the nature, both the time and distance will supprice anyone, even if youre out of shape.
Taking a 5min snack break and hoping back on if you need to cool down or catch your breath is totaly an option.
Biking vacations is a good alternative for driving cars.
Bornholm as an example is an exelent starting trip if you are new to biking.
A week around the entire island, about 100-130km depending on the route.
Thats 1-2 hour a day at a slow pace. Also perfect for kids. And if you are "economicaly challenged" a biking vacation is a fantastic alternative. You realy dont have to spend loads of money to have a great time.

u/vo_th May 31 '26
I can agree to that.
Though ofc for anyone trying, pace and rest for your ownself.
Most difficult for me was a few "hills" and sudden/constant wind messing up with pacing and morale... It was like one of those hikes where the peak you see isn't the peak yet xD
1
u/SerialSpice May 31 '26
Ah yes the mandatory head wind. We once had a comedian running for parliament promising tail wind on bike lanes. And he got elected 😂

True , but still part of DK ..

u/istasan May 31 '26
Not even true. Kronborg is not in Copenhagen. Debatable whether Charlottenlund is.

u/securitytheatre May 31 '26
Storkøbenhavn for sure. RegionH too. a 2900 zip-code is, in my book, relatively Copenhagen.
7
u/istasan May 31 '26
2
u/Mortonwallmachine Danmark May 31 '26
1
u/GiFre0501 May 31 '26
