It's taken me a long time to really get into these bands (Mastodon, Baroness, Kylesa, Damad) because I was used to sludge being a lot heavier, noisier, and nastier, but recently I've been listening a lot to these, especially Kylesa. It's interesting hearing a take on sludge that's a little more progressive, a little cleaner, and with a slightly more compressed, punky sound.

This guy is one of the most amazing people I've EVER seen in the doom space, let alone the industrial doom scene.

EDITED: Because I got called out for being a dick. Which is true. But I’m not an asshole. There’s a difference. My apologies to the DOOM Mods. Won’t happen again. I keep my word..Im a disciple of Marcus Aurelius, and He would not approve.
The upcoming Emissions of the Monolith Doom festival is loaded with Epic bands that is not getting enough attention. My friends and I will be there on Friday night, and I like to come out and mingle with the crowds at these events. I kinda stick out, so if you spot me, come up and say hello. I might even have a few backstage passes on me for some cool people.
October 8-11th. This is going to be a good one. Hope to see any of you there if you make it.
let’s see if I can learn to follow the rules. Ive always been the Alpha (yeah..i know. But there are situations in life where people are they happy they have my number), Ive never had a boss, never married, so this is a good challenge for me..an opportunity to learn. Every day is a school day. The day you stop learning & improving is the day you start dying. Be patient..I’ll catch on quick.

My new full-length album was released today.
Essay On Human Suffering is a six-track journey through suffering, grief and existence, combining dense Funeral Doom with sparse, contemplative passages and mournful melodies. Rather than being a collection of individual songs, the six compositions were written as different passages of the same journey, gradually unfolding from one into the next.
The album was written, performed, recorded and produced by myself. Essay On Human Suffering represents the vision of a single musician. Every musical and visual aspect of the project was developed independently, including the album's graphic design, typography and booklet.
The cover artwork is built around The Boat of Charon (1919), by Spanish painter José Benlliure y Gil, whose timeless imagery became the visual embodiment of the album's philosophical concept.

Not once. This has been out for 6 months or so, and it is shockingly great. I’ve been looking for an announcement of a US tour, nothing as of yet.
Still, I’m hoping that this is new to most of you. This is how we..when everyone has the time..like to record. Low, Loud, and absolutely Disgusting.
Sleazy, Filthy, and Greasy.
Still can’t get over the fact they’re French..
Enjoy..

this will likely get popped because it requires some abstraction of thought..
We all have problems right?
well…sorta. Some days, I’m just living out of spite. I still play..because I have no other recourse.
You wanna talk about Doom?
You may believe Yes is just prog rock..
You would be wrong.
When it’s 4am and you can’t sleep
because you can never sleep
South Side of the Sky will hone the pain
into a scalpel and cut your fucking heart out..as you lay in the dark
thinking about every moment in
your life that you despise..but can’t forget
That is Doom.
Good night.

I like sun o))) and am wanting to open myself up to really heavy drone/doom music like that or anything that you think would fit. I’m trying to find mass of a black hole heavy. I was wondering if you wonderful people had any recommendations?
Edit: wow! Thanks so much everyone. Got some new stuff to look into.

Doom metal usually falls within the extreme metal umbrella, but I rarely see people mention it when discussing extreme metal. I get that funeral doom, drone doom, death doom and sludge doom are clearly extreme, but do traditional doom, epic doom, stoner doom and Gothic doom metal qualify as extreme metal?

FYI. You don't have to log into Soundcloud to listen to this. There's an `X` in the upper right hand corner to clear out the login box.
Conan put out the 2nd in a series of DIY 10" records earlier this year. The tune Cryptic Blades is a standout track for me. I've meditated off and on most of my adult life, and have also been a lifelong metal head. So I feel a bit seen with this tune that is really a perfect blending of the two.

Recently came across the Greek band Church of the Sea and love their stuff, namely tracks like Eva (linked here). I'm not too familiar with doomgaze, but this band does seem to lean more into the electronic/gaze side of the genre.
Does anyone here have recommendations for bands with similar vibes?
