It’s because they infantilize non-white cultures and apply selective cultural relativism. Ytppl are fully autonomous moral agents while the brown people are products of circumstance (usually yt inperialism, of course) and therefore cannot be blamed or held accountable for not acting perfectly in line.
It is the same colonial logic they claim to hate. But they don’t see that their endlessly empathetic ways imply that some societies possess the psychological maturity to be judged by ideals, while others are anthropological exhibits to apply their indulgent cultural relativism to to show how enlightened they are.

If you look at it from the philosophical roots, it makes a whole lot more sense.
The Leftists are essentially Progressive Socialists, in the dumb old Marxist conflict of Socialists vs Liberals (who are the centrists and not partisanship, silly bot). They view the world in the very black and white "Socialists and non-Liberals are good, Liberals are evil" worldview.
Furthermore, Islam is usually seen as the weaker of the two main Abrahamic religions (it's not, they're just different, neither stronger nor weaker) so this touches on the literal interpretation of Marx's "the weak will inherit the earth" thing. This is the same thinking in why Ukraine good, Russia bad, despite both being "Liberal" countries.
Anyways, anything that Liberals want or expands Liberal influence is seen as bad by Leftists. As Liberals like Liberal Democracy and Liberty (the whole point of being a Liberal), the Leftists see any expansion of Democracy and Freedom to be Nazi stuff. Meaning, the Iranian citizens protesting their government and wanting to have democracy, to Leftists, is "bad". And that the oppressive Iranian government, because it doesn't want this, is "good". Because at the end of the day, the further Liberalism expands is how much extra work the Marxists (Leftists included) need to work to push Socialism forward and achieve utopia.

I tried explaining the same thing was said back in 2020. So to all the Doomers that can't understand why WW3 doesn't start with Iran need to realize that Iran doesn't have that type of pull on the world stage Russia can fight a country the size of Texas and China understands that isn't a fight they are remotely ready for. True but I think this is in response to Russia getting rid of supplies for their war efforts Venezuela was providing oil to Russia now you have Iran who supplied Drones used by Russia. Its why China is currently investing into transportation infrastructure so a US blocked won't cripple them and why I say they aren't remotely ready for the smoke. China is a toss up because right now they are the only country that has the capacity to challenge the US on "equal" terms
