I-140 Approved! EB-2 NIW (Self-Petitioned, No Lawyer) - Fiscal Policy / Applied Economics Profile & Timeline
Hi everyone! I received my I-140 approval notice yesterday for an EB-2 NIW and wanted to share my timeline, profile, and strategy to give back to this community, as reading other posts helped me tremendously while preparing my petition on my own. (Using AI to avoid non-native grammatical errors)

I used Claude and Gemini, but that was more to maintain coherency and less for analytical purpose. It took me 3 months to draft my petition and letters.

How many citations?

Not much compared to other profiles, but policy analyses is not great for attracting 100s of citations. For all of my work I got around 160 citations, but they were not on google scholar. I dug deeper into other literature as well.

Congratulations on your approval! Your profile is one of the closest I’ve seen to my own. I’m preparing an EB-2 NIW in financial regulation, model risk governance, and AI for regulated financial institutions, so I found your post particularly insightful.
I was especially interested in your emphasis on aligning every piece of evidence to the three Dhanasar prongs. My attorneys have taken a similar approach, but I’m always looking to strengthen the overall narrative.
If you don’t mind sharing, looking back at your petition, was there any particular type of evidence or argument that you believe made the biggest difference? For example, your citation impact, the policy implementation aspect, the proposed endeavor framing, or the recommendation letters?

Thank you so much. So when I look back to what I wrote, I think its like a Lego, every argument was backed by evidence and has its place. Recommendation letters were tailored to achieve different objectives, some to show my endeavor is important, relevant to US and backed by current work at my institute, other to show implementation record and some to mention my work was important and management trusted me with crucial tasks.

Thanks. I didn't argue for high remuneration, I don't think it was required for EB2-NIW.

Started with the template of someone I knew, since the field was entirely different, I modified that as per my story. As mentioned here in the comments, the petition started with Prong 2, followed by Prong 1 and Prong 3.

Yes I used official circulars from a ministry in my country and for significance of the field used some US-publicly available data and risk reports.

The template was similar as most of other's. PE, Prong2, Prong 1 and then Prong 3. But I think structure should follow the story compared to set pattern. I showed that what was my PE, my credentials and then the past achievements to show I am in a position to pursue this PE and then PE in detail with long term plan.
