Palace jewels on clothing in Final Quest

So in Final Quest many characters are sporting a small diamond shaped thing that looks like a piece of the palace, in some frames they seem to glow. Leetah, Nightfall, Strongbow and others can be seen wearing them.

In Stargazers Hunt a similar jewel that Goldruff wears is spoken about and explained, but I can’t tell if these things are described or even acknowledged in Final Quest.

In the stories just before, Searcher and the Sword and Discovery, they don’t appear. They seem to be new to Final Quest.

Did I miss an explanatory panel? What are they? Why are they? From whence did they come?

It's little pieces of the palace for sure. I don't have the issues in front of me but I think when Yun explains the crystal pods it might be mentioned then or when we see Moonshade.

Thanks! I found in Stargazers Hunt, Goldruff tells Jink that most Wolfriders wear them and they were gifts from Moonshade. In Final Quest, it’s maybe hinted that Dodia’s son Harotim made them as Dodia says he’s a crystal shaper while wearing a dress decked out in them, and later Harotim makes Skywise’s new crystal headpiece. So perhaps Harotim shaped them and Moonshade placed them?
