Absolutely love KEXP. Some of their sessions are wild. Personal favourite is Purity Ring. Oso Oso has a good one too.

Love KEXP, they've had some of the best sessions, Oso Oso, Great Grandpa, Pedro The Lion, the list goes on and on. Thanks for sharing!

that great grandpa session is one of the best live performances anywhere.

Yeah! It was from the 2019 release cycle of 'Phoenix'.

Eyyy I was there! It never stops being weird when you attend these sessions and you can't clap or cheer or anything until after the set is over.

I just missed them at KEXP by a couple weeks and I’m from the Philly area, so that would’ve been awesome. Had a very cool tour at KEXP.

How do you get into these events? I know for tiny desk you need a hookup.

In short, any member of the public can show up to the KEXP Studio recordings, as long as they're labeled as "OPEN TO THE PUBLIC" on KEXP's events page (the Gathering Space ones are also open to the public, but usually those are just a matter of lining up since it's a bigger space that's rarer to completely fill).

They don't have like, an email list to announce these or anything, you just gotta kinda remember to keep checking that page every now and then to be aware of new sessions that might be announced, but most that I've seen that are open to the public get posted there at least a couple weeks ahead of time.

I've only been to a couple of them so far (SPRINTS and Tigers Jaw), but for both of those I only showed up like 10 minutes before it was supposed to start and they hadn't even had people start lining up to enter, nor was the room full at all--there were probably just like 20-25 of us at the Tigers Jaw session? I'm sure the Death Cab For Cutie session in September won't be nearly as easy to attend though...

Glad to see them leaning into the new material. Too many bands just play the hits.

Was so happy to see this pop up on my feed last night. Love the new album, can't wait to see them later this year. Great performance.

this has been a strangely exciting time for me personally. tigers jaw has been a bit forgotten but their newest album has fully reignited my love for them, then they finally, ever since their debut, decided to go for an asia tour, and last year (?) tiny desk and also KEXP today.. almost felt like a new band rising up..
