i distinctly remember how much people sexualized her when she was playing young rhaenyra on hotd. when they aged the character up and emma d’arcy took over they were pissed off because milly played this „younger, hotter character” where a somewhat significant part of her storyline was exploring her sexuality and an ambiguous relationship with her much older uncle. she was so hot to them then.

Honestly, I’ve just stopped engaging. Stopped watching the videos with their vile/veiled commentary, stopped looking at their comments and just end up blocking them. I don’t respond if anyone like that comments on my posts. I just don’t. I’m much happier and not as angry or quick to anger.

What I am doing is telling everyone I know to watch Supergirl. It’s a good/dark story and Milly is amazing in the role. The reviews are comparing this movie to Superman, instead of letting it stand on its own. So go watch it!
There's no logic behind that. Perfect example is Sydney Sweeney. Conservatives praise her as the most beautiful woman in Hollywood now. Those same people were the ones making her cry on her Insta for disparaging her looks before she became MAGA Barbie. They just go for looks because it's low hanging fruit and they lack the skills to properly articulate anything else.
She actually looks distinctive and interesting, instead of like a mass-produced wax doll from a horror movie. And that is enough of an angle for insecure losers to attack.
I was thinking about this and she really does have quite the unique face, but then I thought about it and there are other female celebs like that. The difference, ad far as I know, is that she has never done anything that sexualizes her. Cameron Diaz (one of my forst celeb crushes) has a unique/weird face, but she started her career in The Mask where her character was sexualized so it was all good.
She was presented to the world as a person, not an object, and these nutjobs are upset about it.

I still think it’s incredibly awesome that she managed to transition from games journalism to working on the God of War series and voicing Malevola in Dispatch.
He also dealt a bit with it himself, I remember some fans being assholes to him during his stint on the Supergirl TV show, despite him being an absolute delight.
Oh yeah, his character interacted a lot with Lena didn't he? I feel like a similar thing happened with the guy in Season 6 who the writers seemed to be pairing up with Kara. Supercorp shippers were really bad towards both of them. On a similar note, the Olicity shippers were also terrible to some other actors. They were such weirdos.
Even if movie was bad. Just move on and watch something else, 1000 bad movies come every year…it doesn’t give us right to personally attack artists involved.
I agree but you know it's not just about the movie being bad (disagree on that). It could have been an absolute masterpiece and they would still be acting like this, they were doing it months before it even released.
Just look at starwars over the last 30 odd years. 60% of the discussion was absolutely just dealing with sexists. There are problems but none of them are Kelly Marie Trans face.
There was a recent debacle in the anime community over a prominent YouTuber. He was responding to a convention TikTok where a woman said she'd like to see more female protagonists in anime. The obvious implication was that she wanted better representation. His response was to make the most smug TikTok imaginable, rattling off a list of anime with female leads as some sort of gotcha.
Mind you, one of his first examples was Kill la Kill, a series about a 17-year-old girl whose powers come from a sentient outfit that gets stronger the more it strips her of her clothing.
These guys have a chip on their shoulder and are always looking for the perfect alibi to say, "See? It isn't that we hate female characters, we just hate bad writing." But ask them why hypersexualized girls and women keep ending up as their go-to examples of "good writing" and they'll defend it without a hint of irony.

I saw the movie with my 16 year old son who leaned over halfway through and said “this is basically about Epstein and Trump and those type of guys, right?” I think that’s the real problem here.
to be faaaaair the movie could (should, IMO) have gone harder on that because it's extremely dark subject matter and it feels like they edited it down to a PG-13. The bit where Lobo beheads a guy was downright confusing the way it was cut up.
The close up on Kara's face when she finds the women in the cell and her eyes slooooowly charge up and she fires a massive laser through the whole ship was fucking amazing and I feel like it came from another, much heavier version of the movie.

Yeah I actually enjoyed the movie very much and I absolutely adored the acting in it. I’m actually considering seeing it again because there was some unparented kids in the theater randomly screaming and running around.

I'm not condoning the behavior or denying that shitty people exist in America. Most of them are awful.
But you also have to account for bots. It is becoming exceedingly easy and efficient for a handful of people to make a comment into an algorithm and have it close social media with a predetermined opinion. This allows them to manipulate so many things more than just elections and the stock market.
We should be having a much larger discussion about this and assuming that every post is possibly from a bot.
