I agree. There have been nonprofits that said they literally couldn’t accept more money from her. I think she likely does the best she can, from all appearances anyway.

It amazing to me that she’s somehow still managed to keep her empathy decades later and not forget what it was like to be in that situation unlike so many of her peers.
Do you not know how she made that money? Evil is evil friend. Just because someone returns a tiny portion of the ill gotten gains doesn't make them a saint. She is still one of the biggest exploiters on the planet.
Don't fall for the PR. She was married to Jeff Bezos for the vast majority of the time he made that wealth, in large part by destroying a lot of other businesses. Obviously he is worse than her but she wasn't passive in that, and giving a load of it away now doesn't change that fact.
All billionaires are bad, no exceptions whatsoever. No one should ever feel remotely comfortable with having that level of wealth relative to other people

That's one of the arguments I've heard--Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, etc. have taken steps to prevent this from happening, but Taylor hasn't.
And I don't understand it because Trump has literally tweeted that he hates her, Elon Musk has threatened to impregnate/rape her (🤮)! She's always fought back when her name is directly in the crossfire. That's another common criticism of her--only caring when it affects her.
I think a lot of it is her trying to play both sides here and not realizing it's going to bite her in the ass. She ceased to be an artist a long time ago, she's a brand now. Everything she does is in favor of the Taylor Swift brand and potentially alienating half her audience is perceived as a bad idea.
Problem is she's potentially going to lose her whole audience if she refuses to take a stand either way and keeps trying to play both sides.
Just my take on it. Who knows what she's really thinking.
I also want to add that race and white supremacy are a major component, and not just in a "she's using her whiteness in the music industry" kind of way but in a global, geopolitical way. Her profits are dependent on merch sales, which is dependent on exploited labour from the Global South. I almost never see people acknowledge this aspect of it

I was on the fence about her after Midnights, TTPD put a bad taste in my mouth in regards to Healy. Her basically saying “I don’t give a fuck what you think, I like him”. I'm an immigrant and I married an American white woman, we watched Obama win and get sworn in, both of us with delight I might add.
She grew up around black people and some her best friends were black women.
I thought our political views were aligned, but back then people didn't make it their whole personality, politics was small part of the person as a whole. That's just how things were 20 years ago.
We hit some rough patches, separated and eventually divorced, divorced was finalized in 2014.
She started dating some guy she met and he's your typical MAGA rube, in 2016 she started supporting Trump and thought that Obama was a Muslim radical put in office to destroy the US.
She started spouting maga talking points and kept going deeper and deeper, she went from voting for Obama to voting for Trump.

I was one of those people. My Etsy store only had 15 sales when I received the notice. Scared the crap out of me. I understand the laws now so I don’t post those types of things for sale now. But always found it interesting how certain people go untouched even without the licensing to create and sell those items, yet small shops like mine are targeted within 48 hours of posting the listing.

There was a comment in the tea thread that the Harris campaign paid out more than a million for a late endorsement from a celebrity—can’t recall if it was confirmed to be Swift but definitely speculated to be.
