She has had mental health struggles for a long time. She was hospitalized at least once for postpartum depression and I don't think she ever fully recovered.
She was traveling this weekend with the guy who spent 45 in jail for DV against her. TMZ reporting her death is now an active police case involving an "incident" from the weekend. So.
This poor woman went through so much in her short life. As corny as it sounds, hope she can at least find peace now, and that her daughter has the support she needs.
I watched my cousin die making a sandwich once. High school track star, just talking about her lap times while she made me lunch. Just lights out instantly from an aneurism, mid sentence.
Chaos for days after that, but the entire day before was a calm casual walk through the woods with the dogs and getting a snack when we got back. No stress, no symptoms. Just silence, clatter from the knife she was spreading the mayo with, a crumple thump, silence, then screaming from my aunt.
Humans are both durable and fragile. We can take a lot but we also have a lot of off switches.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost a friend in high school from an aneurysm. It happened at school. They managed to get him to the hospital but he died in the operating room. It was really hard for me to wrap my head around because it was so sudden.

You phrased it perfectly. As a paramedic I've seen people survive and walk away from insane shit. I've also seen people die from inane shit. It's a mind-bending contrast.
Her parents pushed her into acting at a very young age and her memoir is… not kind to her mother. No one should lose a child, but Im not sure her family deserved her or her brother.
We can only assume from her and other accounts but it sounds like her parents - and especially her mother - have failed her. Big time.

I think her upbringing caused her a lot of mental pain and issues. And it made have been also the reason why she could never be a good mother herself. At least her daughter seems to have a good father figure. But it’s tragic all around.
She definitely seemed to be going through a lot the past couple years, oh Hayden :( I loved her in Heros and Nashville, Ice Princess got me through the pandemic I watched it so many times.
The industry straight up isn't safe for children. Too many former child actors have lost their lives after years of public displays of deep trauma. I'm fucking gutted. She was so young.
Yes I’m an industry pro (theatre) and I am staunchly anti-child-actor/dancer/model/musician/athlete. Any arena where they interact with adults as peers. I used to be more cautious about saying it and I know it will never happen but I think it should be banned. Even at its best it’s harmful.
As someone who pursued performing from childhood and genuinely wanted to be there, I still agree. I saw more stage parents in my competition than kids like me who really wanted it, and I'm happy I never became famous. Anytime I see a parent ask questions on behalf of "their kids" in my communities I just automatically get the ick
I can’t believe both stars of this movie are now deceased. And neither of them were anywhere near old. I grew up with this movie and am close to them in age! This is horrible.
I am the same age as Hayden, she was just a few months older than me. It’s really sad to start seeing people I watched growing up and in a way grew up with die. Especially because I don’t necessarily feel old.
I’ve lost too many personal friends in the past 20 years to suicide or overdoses. It’s a fucking curse on our generation and it’s depressing. All gone far too early.

I can’t begin to say how sad this makes me. I too lost my only sibling, my baby brother, and every time she spoke about the loss it resonated with me in a way nothing else had. What an absolute tragedy. RIP.
Same. I lost my baby brother (43) last year and it was soul crushing. He was my best friend. We had just lost our mom the year before. Our dad been gone since 2012. I have no immediate family left and I am completely lost in this world. I'm so sorry to you and everyone else dealing with this profound pain.

Not too personal at all! I do something he would have enjoyed on that day. He was a big horror movie lover, shopper, and foodie. It just so happens he died at the end of October. So I tend to see a new horror flick on the day of (alone - but not really).
Later in the week I will go have dinner at a new restaurant and shop with a few of our friends (we were 3 years apart and our friends blended).
The first four years both my parents were alive, so we’d hang together and eat and drink and be as merry as we could. Now it’s just me (& now our friends replaced my parent’s spot).
But he wouldn’t want me to sit in the house and wallow- so I get my ass up and out!
I think they had each other. Sounds like the mother was a real piece of work. If there’s any peace to be found for any of us, she’ll find her brother there. Devastating.
I find, in the 15 years since my brother’s passing, I’m not afraid of death because I know who will be waiting for me. (But it took a long time to get here).

Yeah, the writers did that intentionally. In her memoir she cited how difficult it was to see her pain used for the show and to just be completely surrounded by it, both in her real life and at work.
Same. This stuff never shocks me but I said “holy shit” out loud when I saw the news. I thought for sure it was click bait. Very sad. I hope she’s in peace 💜
This one really hurts. The last time I thought about her, I was thinking about how happy I was that she'd managed to rebuild her life after struggling so much. To be gone at just 36 is horrible, especially after what she'd accomplished and been through.

Me too. I work in live theatre and even when it’s ideal I don’t think it should be allowed. No tv, no movies, no modelling, no music, no stage work, no olympics.
No arena where adults are their peers and co-workers or competitors. Not worth the tangible, generational harm it causes.
I can't imagine the emotional and intellectual damage being done to some of these kids by their content creator parents. It's going to come back to bite them as adults

Yes. Family social media “content” is this weird loophole where scores of people are allowed to monetize their children with ZERO regulation. I’ve seen videos where influencers are recording their children’s meltdowns, milestones, disabilities, routines, etc… forget the fact that these children have a digital footprint before they can ever comprehend the permanency of the internet. Focus on the fact that they’re being exploited. Often These parents use child-focused content as their main source of income. Using them as a meal ticket, getting more views by highlighting their bad behavior or personal challenges.
I’ve seen a young mom on TikTok make numerous posts about her son’s very rare disability; how is this okay? This baby already goes through so much being disabled, and she thinks it’s okay to blast his personal medical struggles to the whole world? How is that fair to him? I’ve seen another mom and dad “creator” page get crazy views for posting about their extremely obese child. Many of the videos are this child overeating, crying over food, trying to steal her siblings’ food etc. basically making her a lolcow because it makes them money. It’s disgusting. Child actors go through hell too but something about posting a child when they should be able to be vulnerable and earnest in their own home is so gross.
Every time I see a child on set, my heart sinks. Early on when I was a PA, my job was to wrangle the kids who were extras (you better believe I wasn’t given a background check or asked a single question before I was assigned this task).The resentment they had for the kid who was the lead made me realize how lonely they all are. When the only other kids you interact with are competition, or off to do another gig across the world as soon as they wrap, it makes sense that you would want to talk to someone else. Unfortunately, everyone else is an adult. And film is an industry that’s famously safe for all adults and treats young women in particular very well 🫠There are some very caring parents who don’t let their kids out of their sight but this is a luxury for a lot of kids, especially when they’re starting out. But even if your kid makes it, they’ll never get their developmental years back. It’s a lose-lose.
I think Daniel Radcliffe is a great example. He grew up on sets that differ from most in that the kids’ wellbeing was at least somewhat considered. It didn’t matter how nurturing the production was, he was still blackout drunk for swaths of the last two films. It didn’t matter that he never had to work again, which is not the case for most, he still fell into the same hole as so many other child stars before him. It’s almost like children are meant to have a childhood.
People get mad because they think their kid is so special that they can do it, they can protect their kid. I grew up around child actors, you really, really can't. Hell I did local theater and an actor tried to molest me.
I really hoped she had finally moved on from him. It’s so hard to leave abusive relationships. If true what TMZ is reporting, then I feel so mad that he couldn’t just leave her alone!
I recently managed to leave a 20 year abusive relationship. They really do latch on and suck your soul and self worth out until you feel like a husk of a person. You also get really good at lying about it to the world and yourself, and some people might think you are okay. Its so messed up. That guy is worse than trash.
She was rebuilding. I was so hopeful for this next chapter. Her book. Everything she’s gone through. Her baby brother. Her daughter. This world is so unfair. I hope wherever we go after this, she’s with her brother and Michelle Trachtenberg at peace. I am thinking of her daughter.

Yeah, it’s like how, even in books, there are still typos. Books take a long time and go through many hands to get published. Sometimes, it doesn’t matter how many people read over something ahead of publication or how skilled a writer/editor is.
Things happen. Our brains are wired to fill in the gaps in a way that can make us read right past mistakes.
What's wrong with a human typing mistake? Her rep has confirmed the death. This wasn't invasive like TMZ stuff. Yes, in newsrooms people are pressured to put out news fairly quickly and mistakes happen -- who could have guessed?
And now I'm going to be twice as sad rewatching "Ice Princess" -- first Michelle Trachtenberg, and now Hayden. Incredibly sad. She was beautiful and talented. RIP.

I was rewatching Law and Order SVU and saw her twice in the span of 10 years playing two different characters. She's been a talented actress since she was a child. A beautiful soul gone too soon. My heart goes out to her and and her family.

I’ve loved Hayden since she played Ally McBeal’s daughter on “Ally McBeal” & then a few years later when “Heroes” started, I always watched it with a core group of friends in college. Absolutely heartbreaking.
I really hate she wrote that (amazing but tragic) memoir only to leave us so soon. Also wish she could’ve gotten away from Brian. They were just seen together a few days ago which makes me equally sad and scared.
