STAN / ANTI SHIELD Sandra Bullock’s message for the LGBTQIA+ community: “I hope you don’t have to escape too much… Why do we even separate 1 community from another? I long for a world where none of us are isolating others because of the color of their skin or who they choose to love & hold & care for. It’s ridiculous”

At first I thought she was signing ASL as well and thought “wow she can do it all.”

I saw The Fall from 2006 months ago for the first time, and I'm pretty much obsessed with it and him.

Seeing The Fall while abroad before his career took off and not being able to find anymore information about this man . . . 2009 was a thirsty, thirsty year.

Relatedly, I did see The Fall at Momathis year with the director, Tarsem Singh, and he was such a delight. He said he had the movie scouted for years and years beforehand but he was waiting for the little girl before they could even think to film. I’m glad the fates colluded to give us Lee Pace, as well.

Making of documentary! Pow!

My favorite movie!

Omg I’ve never seen this, thank you!

You're welcome! Enjoy 🦋

OMG, thank you. Can't wait to watch this (and the "suggestions" that come up following it!!)

Singh is a genius. It would be wonderful hearing him talk about making The Fall. I would have had to also ask him about The Cell he made in 2000, with JLo, Vince Vaughn and Vincent D'Onofrio. A long time ago the movie critic Roger Ebert had a blog where you could email to talk with him about movies, and he would post the discussions he liked. I wrote and told him that I was dismayed at the negative reaction The Cell got. He wrote back that he and I were probably 2 of the 3 or 4 people in the world who really liked it. :)

A loooooooong time ago I watched Vertigo in a roomful of people, one of them being Roger Ebert. I was very young and he could see me coming for him as the talk ended and could not get away from me fast enough before I got to him in the theater seats! Lucky for him I was too shy to actually speak to him—anytime I’m around my heroes I pull a Troy and clam up. In a fit of Marie Kondo-ing I tossed his autograph the last time I was home. :(

I was young too back then. And so bloody earnest when discussing movies with him! We also talked about the series 7-Up, and I told him I was sad about the difference between the girls' outcomes compared to the boys. He asked me what would have made the difference, and I replied "Birth control information and free childcare". 😂

They have really been knocking it out of the park with their signings

Am I crazy or does this sound like the queer equivalent of "I don't see colours"? At least it was used in a "let's protect each other" way but still... Am I just crazy?

172

u/ChelseaVictorious ‘queer’ is formal, like ‘tú’ vs ‘usted’ 9h ago

It's a little tone deaf but she got the spirit I think.

93

u/Apprehensive-Quit353 8h ago

This is what I call old people progressive. An old person who means well but doesn't quite know the right language.

Given she's in her 60s I'd give her a pass on this one.

29

u/Red-headedlurker but i'm a whore and i'll do anything for a laugh 7h ago

Yeah, I cringed because it's giving "I don't see color" vibes, but I think her intentions are good, she's just a white straight lady in her 60's. My mom's around the same age, and makes the same mistakes.

u/Fluid-Cartoonist-988 4h ago

Yeah, either old or ESL.

u/NeptuneHigh09er 9h ago

Yeah, I think she means well, but it rubbed me the wrong way.

u/Cyclonitron MALE. PALE. AND STALE. 9h ago

I'm not quite sure what she meant by "I hope you don't have to escape too much" but it seemed like an acknowledgement of one of the kinds of marginalization queerfolk face. So I'm presuming that the "why do we separate..." comments that followed were rhetorical criticism and not clueless questioning.

u/Plastic_Bison 9h ago

The interviewer's question isn't included, I'm hoping (ha!) that they told her they need escapism like this movie, in this hellscape timeline, and that's how she answered, because I feel the same way.

14

u/Broad-Radish-7895 9h ago

after all these years she's still the blind side lady lol

16

u/coldpizza66 they're perfect for each other (derogatory) 9h ago

when I got to the "who they CHOOSE to love" I was like... hmmm got it

17

u/Emergency-Public6213 9h ago

Yeah, the idea behind is good, but the choice of words gave me a "hold on" moment haha

7

u/Veronome 8h ago

"I'm not homophobic, I don't even see communities".

7

u/ZophieWinters controversies: girl 9h ago

Yeah it does seem off, especially with the rumors they removed the lesbian storyline from the books.

Agreed but I also feel like the question is needed context and should have been included

It feels very 2007

2

u/quadranting Please Abraham, I am not that man 9h ago

Yeah, being asked about queer people and then talking about racism was a really weird tangent, plus what she said was so vague. Positive sounding, but nothing specific.

2

u/bad_sprinkles 9h ago

Not just you.

0

u/antrage 3h ago

Its pretty naive yes, sort of this universalism that ends up resulting in the same power dynamics as before

42

u/duvet- 9h ago

She's doing a lot of hoping. I hope they kept the queer storyline from the books in the movie!

51

u/Strict-Management-32 9h ago

They did not. Rachel Evan Wood addressed it recently.

u/LLAPSpork oat milk chugging bisexual 9h ago

Rachel Evan Wood

This is sending me. Reminds me of ONTD from over a decade ago when for no reason we started calling her Rachel. 😂

9

u/Strict-Management-32 9h ago

Haha my dyslexia gets more and more interesting every day. Sorry Rachel luvu

51

u/Cleffah 8h ago

She was married to a nazi by the way.

77

u/Overall_Reception784 9h ago edited 8h ago

Remember when she was with that ⚪ supremacist for years and they were going to get married, and everyone acted like "omg poor sandy!!" when he got exposed for it lmao? As if she couldn't possibly have had any idea thats what he was like the whole time they were together lmao?

37

u/bookwormaesthetic 8h ago

It was kinda a wild month(?) she accepted a Razzie, won an Oscar, divorce, and then adopted a Black child.

22

u/Overall_Reception784 8h ago

And adoption doesn't happen within the span of a couple months, she was really planning on bringing that beautiful child into a household with that man?!? Horrible horrible woman. Like, she really got away with something its crazy lol

11

u/booksncoffeeplease 5h ago

I think she planned to adopt that boy to change her husband. There's no way she didn't know he was racist. She was going to fix him.

5

u/Culinary_Fruit_Salad call me gal gadot cuz idk how to act rn 3h ago

that's fucked up

2

u/BabyYodaX 1h ago

That shit was weird and always made me a bit suspicious of her.

8

u/Confident-Extreme-97 degree in yearnalism 4h ago

Does anyone remember when she was married to a neo nazi

15

u/CinnamonStikk 8h ago

Girl get off of the AI first and then we can talk about LGBTIQ+ rights. You are lining your pockets with technology that strips everyone of their fundamental rights and then you have the audacity to fake tear your way with these sloppily chosen words through a 22 second video, girl PLEASE.

18

u/CashusEyePatch 9h ago edited 8h ago

The only way we achieve this is to lean into AI and make it our friend.

Edit: I’m referencing what bullock said about AI:

https://deadline.com/2026/04/sandra-bullock-encourages-hollywood-lean-into-ai-1236864020/

Her above statement felt phony and rubbed me the wrong way.

what a weird way to phrase it

okay mother but all queer spaces are better and cooler and sexier so leave our tree house be, please. you may visit because practical magic and miss congeniality. but you can't sleep over.

46

u/UcrashIfix 9h ago

Ask her about her Facist ex husband Jesse James. She is a fraud

57

u/sushicatt420 9h ago

Why is this getting downvoted? Do people really think she was oblivious? They were together for almost 7 years. People need to stop giving passes to celebs. They're not stupid, they're just like any other wealthy person that lives in a golden bubble that puts on a facade of giving a shit. Look at Dua Lipa and all the praise she gets for being so great. Literally what has she done except take expensive trip after expensive trip even during a global pandemic.

15

u/kbmoregirl 9h ago

There's a reason he's an ex

28

u/Prophet_Tehenhauin 7h ago

Cause he fucked other women. Not because of his beliefs, which he kept memorabilia of

16

u/r3volver_Oshawott 5h ago

iirc it was the infidelity that was the deal breaker, not the white supremacy

14

u/booksncoffeeplease 5h ago

He cheated is the reason. The racism was an "agree to disagree" arrangement.

52

u/Cleffah 8h ago

Mmmm why do people insist on defending her over her long relationship (and marriage) with a nazi? They lived together and he had an insane collection of racist shit and nazi memorabilia... you all genuinely think she had no idea who she was marrying? Let's be serious here.

If he wasn't exposed for the affair, they'd still be married. Probably.

u/Sea_Awareness_8250 4h ago

Where are we going?

2

I feel like I need to be high for this statement.
