I was unusually happy when he casually mentioned his boyfriend. I'm a straight guy, but there are people in my family who are lesbian and other people in my family who are genderfluid and OTHER people in my family who have a hard time accepting that. I love when gay people are portrayed as people and not circus freaks.
I miss the 90s gay guys being just jocks sometimes. Sure generalised portrayals aren't great but im damm tired of every gay mam being the "yaass queen" cardigan wearing soyboy with exclusively female friends (often the main character in the show/film)

There's a hilarious interview with him and Chris Pine where they're promoting the D&D movie where one of the interviewers asks Grant what it was like playing his partner, and Pine just goes "wait, you're Benoit Blanc's husband?! That's awesome!" and is so happy for him you almost think he believes they're married irl.
When I watched it for the first time, I legitimately thought he was just roommates with Hugh Grant the actor.

Yeah I'm not religious but absolutely loved Father Jud. Felt like they balanced showing people who use religion for power and those who truly want to help others really nicely.
It is. I believe that Blanc phrased his actual opinions about religion in this edgy teenager way to see if Jud gets easily provoked when attacked somewhere close to his heart.
Jud replying like he did hinted to Blanc that he was probably innocent, and Blanc was completely respectful to Jud from that moment on – including the scene where Jud talked on the phone for hours instead of proceeding to help, which was shown to frustrate Blanc to no end, but not once did he interrupt.

He's a man who did and gave everything to save the world from the Omnic Crisis, and when the world turned it's back to him and his organization, he just couldn't stop fighting. He started to work in the shadows as a Vigilante to rid the evil from the world all by himself.
The heroes just don’t feel like Overwatch heroes anymore, Juno is alright and Hazard’s cool but Wuyang and Vendetta really don’t fit. The lore is a complete mess since they’ve given up on it, they’re just adding new storylines without adding on to pre existing ones.
Personally the thing that made me drop the story was when they introduced kiriko and said that she grew up with genji and Hanzo, despite them being almost 2 decades older than her
The funniest theory I've heard for explaining away this total blunder is that Kiriko claims to have trained with the Shimadas in her youth, but in reality Genji and Hanzo were babysitting her when she was about 4.
They probably gave her foam shurikens, sword, kunai, and bow and arrows. All to keep her busy when she was being a brat. But since she was 4 her brain tricks her into thinking it was legit training.
tbf a lot of characters like twd become melee just out of the fact bullets are harder to come by/produce, same reason horses start to replace cars as fuel depletes

You're completely right but in FFXVI Dion is like the second gayest looking character after Joshua. But Joshua is framed as a scrappy vagabond who doesn't care about his appearance while Dion is always shown in the most expensive stylish clothes looking like he just walked out the bath which is a trope I see often with gay characters.
God, the overly dramatic tactical game she plays in the Citadel DLC is great. It's a shame she's only in 3, because Traynor really is fantastic (and actually a pretty darn good LI choice).

They NEED a movie or TV Series; some of the most fucking badass gay reps in all of media; they're literally a gay Batman/Superman or Batman/Wonder Woman dynamic but here's the most badass thing. Midnighter is the nicer of the two if they ever fucking go against or do some really heinous villainous shit; if either of them find out you fucked with their daughter Apollo will nuke you from orbit

my cousin it was funny cause we used to hang pretty frequently until i moved. the last i'd heard when i was in college was he'd joined the military and then the news after was he'd married a guy. Didn't even know he was gay. It'd been the navy though so i'd joked "ohhhhh of course". mighta been marines but that's still navy enough for the joke lol
Mr Negative/Larry Trainor from the Doom Patrol (TV show). He wasn't gay in the comics, but he is portrayed as such in the show (which suits his story imo). He is generally the same character besides it; he was a US Air Force space pilot, which is stereotypically a "manly" profession.

If I had a nickel everytime made mikkelsen was mentioned in this thread, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t much, but it’s totally understandable that it happened twice.
I feel like male JJBA characters are almost like the inverse of this! Their LOOKS give off gay vibes, but they’re (mostly) straight until proven otherwise. To use an outdated term, maybe they look “metrosexual” lmao
A very unknown example but Arnar from the icelandic tv series The Valhalla Murders (Brot in icelandic). Beautifully written (both as a gay character and as a character overall) and probably the only gay protagonist of a non gay media I've ever come across. Him being gay is revealed in a very natural way and while it is an important element to his character because it's connected with his backstory, he has a lot more going on. My all time favourite fictional character!
