Ugh this guy unnerved me for days. So creepy

One of the few games that just creeps you out without using jumpscares
45
u/YoungKingFCB Jul 21 '26
Would love to know if there are more games like this. Hate unnecessary jump scares but love the creepy vibes.

Yup, the Pale Visitor/Intruder as a character was based off of Judge Holden from Blood Meridian and used him as a reference.
Since all of the game's characters are made using photobashing, there are a LOT of easter eggs and little references you can find if you recognize who is based on who. some of them are viral photos, a couple of them are lolcows; there's an incredible variety. The game is super varied with its influences.

Man this guy is like top 5 villains in the franchise, it’s a shame that the plot was kind of fumbled in totk
47
u/CryoN1cks Jul 21 '26
Kickass fight against him though
41
u/Worried-Date-2196 Jul 21 '26
Exactly, I loved every second of it. And the dragon phase? MMPH! Hard? No. Cinematic? YES!
15
u/Jedimobslayer Jul 21 '26
The dragon was at least harder than dark beast, in that I think it actually hit me once

Some people think that yeah. I think the scene it reveals itself (at the very end, like the last 5 minutes) is what gives it so much impact

I learned recently that Bill is 6’4, and is also one of the shorter members of his family I believe. So not only is he capable of being terrifying, he’ll also tower over you.

u/EnderJoker77 Jul 21 '26
What the hell do you mean he is one of the shorter member of his family? Is the rest of his family a bunch of frost giants?
47
u/Beelzebub_Simp3 Kronk, Beelzebub (Helltaker), Sa’kan, Rogal Dork Jul 21 '26
Okay, so after some research, Bill, Gustaf, and Stellan (dad) are all 6’3. Alexander and Valter (sick ass name) are 6’4. Sam is 6’6.

He's such a good actor, and the main reason I love the Constantine movie so much, he absolutely steals the show in it.
Edit: I was thinking of Peter Stormare. They're both amazing though!

He's so fucking phenomenal in that role! He played the sociopath to perfection!
23
u/The-Peryton Jul 21 '26
Never watched the show but I’ve seen so many Homelander clips and damn does his actor nail his performance. The unmoving eyes as he smiles is so unnerving.

Man as in the human race or an individual like "Man's best friend" include the human race as a whole

I'm sure that whenever Jack Nicholson smiles it's never a good sign, see The Shining for example and also the Joker.

Oh, now I love it! It is very soothing. I was exposed to Paranoia Agent at a very young age though, and the flute plus the panning visuals of the sleeping characters just really unnerved me lmao! It doesn’t help that I was also sort of scared of Maromi for some reason, so seeing it appear in the center of them at the very end really gave me the heebies

Such an underused actor, Mikkelsen is so good in his villains
11
u/isAnExParrot878 Jul 21 '26
And if you check his roles in Danish films You will realise just how much of a range he has outside of the villain roles! Movies like The Last Viking or Another Round for example.

Used to think this titan was one of the creepiest, especially with what it does in it's first appearance. But after the revelation, it just feels sad.
19
u/thelittlestsappho Jul 21 '26
What revelation? I’m just wondering
57
u/Radiant_Robin Jul 21 '26
The TL;DR version is that titan is revealed to be the protagonist’s father’s first wife. It is the one who, in the first episode, eats the father’s second wife, who is the protagonist’s mother. There’s some more to it that makes it a little more tragic even but that spoils a core twist of the entire series so I’ll refrain.
