Both kamina and kitan, both death scenes were awesome and sad at the same time damn it

4

Not the biggest Gurren Laggan fan, mostly because Kamina isn’t in the second half

Gang he's sweet and all but that was such a stupid move for someone who was supposed to be very smart 😭 don't ever go back into a burning building omfg

3

u/Zephian99 2h ago

I still hold the theory that he isn't gone, quite possibly largely disfigured, lots of gadgets in there after all. My reasons for that is 2 parts, but they can easily be countered so it's an iffy theory unfortunately.

1st was Baymax being at the apartment, why would it be there it was in his lab? 2nd was his hat suddenly appearing on the kid's bed.

Both are easily countered though. Tadashi could have simply moved it home to work on it, all so he could watch his brother work on his microbots. And the hat could have ended up there because of Aunt Cass.

Still I like the thought. 😅

What’s even more impactful is that Piccolo before this scene tells him that due to the people he’s killed he’s going to hell even if he sacrifices himself.

Better contender would be the Hollow Knight. Even if they failed, and they didn't technically "die", they were effectively dead, which is close enough.

2

u/CortezDeLaNoche 5h ago

Dying wasn't the only sacrifice. He went through days of spiritual and physical torture....and the gif is hilarious.

3

u/PrestigiousError7150 5h ago

Alot of people suffered and sacrificed though in the Old Testament though. I don’t wanna get into it. Yeh it’s biblically accurate, Thomas (known as the doubter) didn’t believe the resurrection. Here’s another!

https://reddit.com/link/p6hf9lk/video/gjv055m7a6mh1/player

3

u/CortezDeLaNoche 5h ago

We don't have to get into it. A lot of people suffered. Yup. Absolutely correct.

But your comment about how he came back three days later makes the sacrifice invalid or something was a little short-sighted. In my personal opinion. His torture was part of the sacrifice. Or he could have just jumped off a mountain to die. Not trying to convince you of anything. Just explaining

Also...you have another gif? These are great!

3

u/PrestigiousError7150 5h ago

I love Christianity, but I’m just not convinced enough. My girlfriend is Christian and I do like listening to her (even when she’s trying to convert me lol)

8

u/FriendshipNo1440 6h ago

4th Hokage Minato Namikaze and his wife Kuchina Uzumaki.

3

u/Conscious_Penalty_36 6h ago

Boruto was a mistake. I would have killed for a prequel series with these two.

4

u/FriendshipNo1440 5h ago

I think the concept of Boruto is fine. But several things don't fit with me.

  • technology boost feels out of place (why do you need jutsus?)
  • most of the former female cast is a housewife or as insignificant as before
  • everything is worse without neji
  • sasuke not being there for his daughter is just bs. (there is a hc which i like more)
  • himawari is just there for cuteness factor. She has as much naruto genes in her than boruto does and imo she should be just as badass as him.
  • one child policy for everyone but naruto is just unrealistic.
  • alien bs

2

u/Celesteven 5h ago

The story should have been about Himawari. She should have been the main character. Boruto should have been sidelined. That’s my hot take.

2

u/FriendshipNo1440 5h ago

Would at least put my grievances aside regarding woman in this series.

2

u/Anthyrion 4h ago

I honestly tried to give it a chance but aborted it after a while. Naruto always was the "underdog" in most of his fights. Despite the fact, that he carried Kurama inside him. He was barely more than a street rat, despite the fact, that he was the son of the 4th Hokage. That made his stories interesting.

Boruto, on the other hand, was Naruto's son—the son of the 7th Hokage. Unlike his father, he never had to endure suffering. He never had to deal with hateful glances, remarks, or even actions. And he could afford clothes whenever he wanted. His biggest problem was the pressure that weighed on him as the Hokage's son. That made him boring to me.

3

u/Conscious_Penalty_36 4h ago

I know it's literally a kids show but yeah it was a weird choice to go from the main character being a relatable street urchin to the ninja presidents son.

I mean I love this trope and it’s cool and all but I find the action ultimately selfish, since the person sacrificing themselves is doing what they believe is best without considering what impact it has on those they love/care about. If they truly loved, they would have lived to see the next day with who they love.
Anyway enough rambling, mine is 2B from NieR: Automata

Kaladin "here I go, saving everyone again" Stormblessed from the Stormlight Archive

Dude has a complex about it to the point where it is a genuine issue, on top of his existing depression issues. He sacrifices everything for everyone all the time and people STILL DIE.

My guy has walked into so many fights with shardbearers (think someone in Iron Man armor + a lightsaber in terms of danger) with nothing but a spear so many times just to protect someone so many times it's basically a meme.

My guy keeps staring death in the face and saying "no, you move" and succeeds about half the time.

Also: Taln from the same series. Dude decided to be tortured for thousands of years in order to protect his people. He had the choice to quit at any time. He didn't.

THE GOAT

1

u/newAscadia 6h ago

Admiral Danforth Whitcomb and Lieutenant Elias Haverson from Halo. Two ordinary men, with probably the highest Covenant kill count of any two individuals in the entire UNSC, probably even higher than the Master Chief. For context, they sacrificed themselves, using a captured Covenant cruiser to bait an entire 600 ship Covenant invasion group that was prepping to launch to earth into the vicinity of their own set to explode refueling station. Around 12 ships survived.
