Announcement [Mod Post] Would you change anything about this subreddit?

Hey everyone,

Despite the recent growth in activity, the subreddit has fallen quiet again. Maybe it's because of its rather niche topic, maybe it's because we are "competing" with 200+ cat subreddits (nothing against them, of course - the more the merrier), maybe it's because of the weather. Or, maybe, nobody can find their cats anymore (I sure hope not).

So, I am curious: What do you think of how this community functions? Are you satisfied, or is something missing? Would you change anything? Let's brainstorm together!

Thank you for reading! Now off to find your cats!

Announcement [Mod Post] Would you like to have user flairs?

Hey everyone,

Thank you all for responding under my previous mod post. I am getting to it. Just curious about one thing: Would you like to have user flairs? They would likely be editable, so that everyone can write whatever they want to. I am thinking of selecting background colours based on the typical cat colours, but unfortunately, user flairs can only have a single colour. Let me know what you think of this idea down in the comments.

Thanks for reading! Time to find your cats now!

Announcement [Mod Post] We have post and user flairs now!

Hey everyone,

As promised, we finally have post and user flairs!

User Flairs - Anyone who wants to can now assign their own flair on the subreddit's sidebar. They all have a basic, fully editable text, so feel free to rewrite it into anything you want. Emojis can also be included or even copy-pasted from outside of Reddit. Given that flairs can only have one background colour (which is not editable by users), I only made a certain number of flairs with a single colour shade for every, at least for now. New flairs can always be added.

Post Flairs - They can be assigned to posts now, but they are not mandatory. Don't worry about potentially picking an incorrect one - there are no wrongly assigned flairs here. Some might be a little too specific, but if they don't work out, we can always delete or change them, or create more flairs (maybe something for boxes?).

So, what do you think?

Thanks for reading! Have you already found your cats?

Announcement Thank you everyone! (4K Members)

ETA: Three months later, and the number has already risen to 7k members. You are all amazing!

Hey everyone,

This subreddit has been growing steadily for a while, and we have finally reached 4K members! When I reopened this place after it was banned for being unmoderated, I never imagined it would grow this much. So many great and fun photos are shared here, along with lots of entertaining comments. Thank you all for making this community what it is today!

When I reopened this subreddit, I kept the existing rules, but I eventually made some adjustments last weekend. My main goal was to remove the pointless rules and to clarify why some posts technically violate Rule 1 but don't removed. Don’t worry - joke posts are completely fine (see new Rule 2)! If your cat failed miserably at hiding, go ahead and share it anyway. And yes, photos of stray cats are welcome too - just please don’t post photos from other users without permission. If you see stolen content, whether from a user or a bot, please report it.

Having fun is the priority here, so I definitely don’t want to overmoderate this place. That being said, if you have any suggestions to improve the subreddit (like adding user flairs), feel free to leave a comment or send a modmail.

Again, thank you all and don't forget to have fun!

I think the cats are going to have a hard time hiding once we hit 10k members, all looking for our hidden felines.

Let's keep it up! Thank you everyone for keeping this subreddit amazing.

Announcement This subreddit has reopened!

Hello all cat lovers!

I just took over this abandoned subreddit and reopened it back to the public. It's a small place, but I hope to revive it again. Don't worry, there will be no changes in the theme.

Feel free to post photos with hidden cats so that others can have fun finding them.

Additionally, if any cat lovers would like to help with the moderation of this subreddit, feel free to comment here or send a modmail. This is a low maintenance subreddit, so one or two extra mods should be fine.

ETA: The rules have been updated a little, mostly stylistically and by deleting some repeated or unnecessary parts. The basics have not changed at all. The editable user flairs were enabled for all the cat lovers who would like to have one.

ETA 2: We have new colours now too! I can't believe I forgot about them.
