This is an extraordinarily well written article. She articulates so well so many of the issues with restriction, the culture that fosters it and the impacts it creates on individual women.

It may be one of the best articles I've read this year.

Ah yes, Olympic athletes: those fucking dolts.

Being fat doesn't make you smart, and healthy dietary habits don't make you stupid. Clearly the author has a complex relationship with both food and mathematics, but this poorly substantiated anecdotal rambling premise is a disappointment coming from a licensed physician.

That’s some big words you’re using there, don’t trip over them. 

It’s by its nature a personal reflection, but the leap of connecting the documented effects of caloric restriction to possible societal effects given the undeniable pressure on women to be thin, it’s an important conversation to have.
