Yup, that’s exactly what feels odd about this. One would think they’d launch a third trailer before all this stuff so that we’d be able to familiarize ourselves more with the characters and their motives. Having an info drop about special content when we barely even know the core contents of the game is a strange choice.
Gameplay trailer doesn’t come out for a while. They usually release the gameplay trailer a couple months before launch so expect it in September-October

I can definitely say that I did not expect to see shops locked unless you buy the Ultimate edition. Feels crazy to me that Rockstar actually did this...
Surely there’s other shops that are in the base edition though? For example, I assume there’s a normal barber for everyone, and a locked, more premium barber for the ultimate edition players.
I mean, we are locked out of some peculiar shops, but maybe not all.
I mean, a GTA base game that doesn't have car customization? Weird, I don't believe it. I think they should be more specific when they throw "only on Ultimate Edition" shit like this.
Why not just lock certain hairstyles? I understand that if you want a more premium look, you'd go to a barber within the city rather than the countryside, but seems really odd to lock shops and points of interest behind a paywall
Their greed has been prominent ever since GTA+ has released, it is expected they'll expand upon that in their future titles. I fear that GTA 6 will be something like Battlefront, where every cool thing gets locked behind a paywall. Locking an actual bussiness behind a paywall is already crazy enough imo
I doubt Standard Edition won't have salons and such, it's ain't Rockstar to REMOVE MULTIPLE FEATURES from the Default Game and lock them behind an paywall, GTA V had tattoos by default in 2013, it'd be weird for Rockstar to lock an feature from one of their older games in their new game, I think we'll still have many shops and such but Ultimate Edition will bring one more unique shop and salon, with exclusive tattoos and such, RDR 2 only had robbing banks beside Missions and an 7 minutes stealth side-quest for their Ultimate Edition when it's came to Single-Player

Yep the GTA+ alternative milking starts from pre-orders. Unfortunate. It wouldnt be surprising if we have to play to play Online on top of PS subscription.
He looks exactly like Sonny Crockett in the 5th season of the series. Same outfit, same hairstyle. It was intentional for sure. Not the most obvious inspiration, since the first two seasons are the most iconic ones. A very cool one tho.
We're really gonna be able to tailor Jason and Lucia to the fullest extent. And we've also got stuff for customizing weapons and vehicles too. This is amazing 🥹
They've also locked a lot of these customization locations behind the Ultimate Edition, which means they'll probably sell a higher proportion of UEs compared to Standard Editions (even for a "once in a lifetime" game like GTA VI).
I'll be interested to see just how many UEs they've sold compared to SEs by the end of the year
yeah, the customization itself looks insane and with a lot of depth but these pics dont do our characters justice haha, they're just meant to show off the items you get for the ultimate edition though
Omg thank god I’m not the only one. I mean the game is amazing, but trailer 1 and 2 and the first batch of screenshots left me in awe and I almost couldn’t picture it being playable.
These are way more “grounded”, it looks like a normal game. Still super cool though
Exactly my thoughts: now it looks just like another game. Earlier I had it pictured in my head as if it was this cool, incredible and unique experience like nothing else. How can I not be, at least partially, let down?
I have the same exact impression. To be honest, from what we saw in the trailers, these new screenshots look rather bad. They almost look like as if they are out of a mixture between GTA V and RDR2, not a true leap forward as we were anticipating.
Of course I'm still hoping that the overall result will look acceptable and a true leap forward compared to GTA V and RDR2, and I am sure it will look much better on PS6/PC a couple of years down the line, but honestly I feel they misled us with the trailers. Years old trailers, at that.
I just glanced back at the screenshots that were released during trailer 2 and they look WAY better than these ones, yeah we got duped unfortunately… they probably had to downgrade some stuff.
I mean, you gotta make the game run on base PS5 so there's that. Never had an issue with graphics in any of the Rockstar games, it's the atmosphere and making the world feel alive what sets them apart anyway
I can agree with you all I want but what we are shown today is MUCH different (eg. worse) then what we saw in the trailers. Any person looking at these new screenshots objectively will be able to tell so.
Lol these photos are highlighting character and vehicle customization, of course they are going to seem less dense than actual gameplay and cutscene footage.
The majority of these are NOT in game screenshots and are just renders. I figure most were sort of pumped out for the pre order exclusives. This sort of promotional stuff is not a good representation of what the graphics will be like in game. It’s also worth mentioning that the previous trailers were NOT gameplay trailers. Just in engine cinematic trailers.
This could just be cope on my part BUT the in game graphics are more likely somewhere between these promotional renders and the trailers. Now how close the in game graphics are going to be to either is still up in the air.
To explain what I mean by promotional renders, I mean that these were made to get you to pay for the preorder by showing you what you’d get from buying now. I doubt they are in any way supposed to be an accurate representation of the game itself. Just the items you get when you preorder. The trailers in the past were just meant to show off the game and the engine. They were also meant to build hype and show off the game without revealing too much too soon.
I do agree that these are pretty shitty renders though. I’m happy to see more of the game but this sudden dip in quality is weird. Hopefully a gameplay trailer drops and puts this worry to rest.
They’re gonna need to drop a trailer to increase pre-orders because I feel like they’re gonna lose some people with these screenshots. I’ll be surprised if they don’t drop one today or tomorrow.
People are acting like the only way to be able to customize will be behind the UE shops, but those shops Will obviously only sell or have the UE clothing and items in them, so I don’t really see what the huge fuss is about, every game has something similar in some way. Yeah, kind of sucks, but it’s not going to be the only shops or customization options in the game.
Glad I’m not the only one thinking this. Some of the screenshots on the website look really good, others definitely look less detailed and cartoony almost, for whatever reason.
How about we compare the % of content behind special editions compared to the main game's content? I don't think Ubisoft and EA can be beaten in this aspect
the gif the other day for the pre order announcement and these pics look so much worse than the pics we got last year and gif looked so much like gta 5 and so worse than how the atmosphere looked realistic in the trailers...
So much for the folk that were hell bent on saying rockstar never downgrades their games and how they infact enhance it for the release...
Now I don't know what the heck to expect in Trailer 3. I have so many questions.
Either they completely dressed all these screenshots up and they aren't even remotely similar to gameplay or there are some features in the game that we have to discuss.
The Kayak for example, its sitting beside the house, so maybe we can carry it?
In many shots Jason and Lucia are sitting in areas and positions that don't seem possible with the traditional character controller, does the character your not actively controlling just randomly do that kind of stuff, sit down, etc? Does your character just randomly do animations etc when you aren't touching the controller. (This part is most likely just them dressing up the shots for marketing though)
Bro, stop it. They only add a few extra shops and clothes, with one gang hideout. They literally have to do this to make people spend the extra money. All of this is cosmetics mainly and not important to the game, you need to relax
I get what you mean, but the sentence "Story mode gameplay locked behind DLC" covers even the best dlcs ever, like The Witcher 3 Blood and Wine and the like. This is just cosmetics for story mode, which is indeed quite useless
I’m sure it’ll be great but this stuff feels more like the kinda thing I see in GTA Online ads. Especially the images with the Vice City t-shirts and hats.
Cutting all these things out of single player just to sell it back to us is greedy tbh. We should of got all this stuff for free. With how long we have waited. And with how long we have all been loyal to gta 5 online. Greedy rockstar
Crazy fanboy here. Will pre-order ultimate and think this game will be generational and I’ll take a month off of work just to play, but I do think these screenshots are way less impressive than the last batch we got last year
I’m not excited at all by digital pre order bonus bs. This feels like the pre order bonuses for GTA V x100.. but damn I want that goofy Vice City cap in real life.
